  • I have been wanting to upgrade the landing gear on the Kitfox since we bought it. Today is finally the day. Follow along as we convert our Kitfox Model 4 from Grove spring gear to ShockMonster Cabane bush gear from TK1 Racing.

    Nice job Scott, I did the same with my experimental clip wing Cub, only I used Acme Black Ops shocks. Added 6 pounds over stock bungees but I gained 5 mph in cruise and best of all they make me look like I’m a much better pilot than I really am.

      That's great, The Black op has a nice small drag profile compared to my Monsters. I wish i gained cruise :)

    Congratulation Scott, the Kitfox 4 is looking great now with the upgrade, next I guess on your bucket list I imagine would be larger tyres and a bigger tailwheel ! Are you going to cover the Cabane gear with skins? A new paint job and you'll be all set........I'm glad that you are back posting videos!

      Thank you 😊 I installed a temporary larger tail wheel today. I would like to cover the gear legs with something, I just haven’t decided what yet

    Killer set up looks like it really soaks up the rough landings, now you got to go test it on the Idaho gravel bars while the water is still low!

    I agree, like it. Does the brake lines you put on put up with the punishment that the braided lines do off pavement? I know that one thing I noticed about your install is that they are mounted externally on the new brackets for the gear, is that normal or just your install. Wonder about high brush or rocks and the lines exposed. I not trying to be negative, just building a knowledge for my build in the near future. Definitely want the shocks and gear mod. Really like watching your channel.

    29's, you NEED 29's, go big or go home! There is a big difference between 26's and 29's in the cush factor. You want the spinner well above your head!

    It looks great however i would be concerned that it was so difficult to install and that as you said the brackets on the plane were not square so is there any part of the new gear frame stressed out just because of the install problems?

    Scott at looks really cool I would like to know more about the gear cost where you got it and applications for tail wheel or craft the manufacture need to put some website or something in there for that thanks
