this was easily my top song of 2023..and not for the best of reasons. but kudos to the band for creating a song that fit my situation. metal therapy is a real thing
After following the whole metalcore scene from 18 to now 34…I can say MTS is the one that always stood out from the crowded scene that’s been done over and over again. There’s so much sadness and bleakness in a lot of the lyrical content, but it just hits so hard and uncomfortably relatable. I feel bad for people who here anything remotely aggressive sounding and miss out on a whole ass experience that actually hits. I’ve always thought the best music comes from a place of pain and torment, which sucks, but at the end of the day it’s the relatability that resonates and hits hard with listeners.
Yeah, but there are tons of bands that didn't last even though they sounded (objectively) better than most other bands.

Those bands had nuance too, it wasn't all just doom and gloom. That's the biggest thing that holds emo/screamo/metalcore back: the overwhelming amount of bands that just whine about how hard life is or how sh*tty people can be.

Plus... imo, Sean Harmonis is the best male vocalist in the genre... maybe the world?
I will be honest. The lady keyboardist/vocalist totally makes this song. She has an interesting voice. More importantly that counter melody on the keyboard is amazing. Rhythm section keep that shit comin'.
