    • @captaincouldverc
      @captaincouldverc  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah if you're not running in heavy gravel areas like me, this shaft is almost useless.
      But for a person who only has gravel options to bash in, this is a game changer.
      Never used to get a single full in this car until without driveshaft breaking from the gravel. I stopped driving the car for over a year cause the problem was so often reoccurring.
      Luckily rcawd was kind enough to send this out for me to try.
      Now my little 3s typhon is unstoppable.. well almost 😆 🤣

    On my kraton 4s glued a little foam piece to motor and battery strap, seems to keep rocks off drivechain.

    • @captaincouldverc
      @captaincouldverc  Před 25 dny +1

      I thought about trying to attach something like that to the motor heatsink, but then decided, if I'm going to something about this problem I've had for 3+ years, I'm going to solve the right way.
      Metal is far superior to plastic propshaft, and the foam is prone dryrotting.
      The choice of solving the problem in the long term is clear and obvious.
      Metal propshaft is the winner.

      Those RCAWD metal diffs are 💩!
      They make yokes for the plastic 3s diffs, those will help tremendously.
      For the slipper, I recommend a 4s slipper. They have extra plates and metal spur. I would suggest getting the arrma one cause the rcawd version isn't that great.

      I absolutely love my 3s Typhon, I live on a gravel road so I know all about those damn little rocks. I got a chassis bag, no more rocks or debris getting in. It has zippers down both sides, Velcro holding it to the chassis sides, really saves on the clean up time. Fine dust particles is all that gets thru.

      I've ran the debris nets. I'm just not a fan of how they don't allow the heat from the electrics to escape.

    That loud ass squealing is why your stripping out diffs… sounds like it’s way too tight already..my Typhon is whisper quiet under heavy acceleration

    • @captaincouldverc
      @captaincouldverc  Před 9 měsíci

      That squealing is actually motor bearings failing. And the spur mesh was a bit tight in this session. Replaced the bearings last weekend and it's much less noisey now.
      But the diffs are fine and have been great since the HR yokes were installed. They were taken apart last weekend aswell, they are still in fantastic shape.

    • @roadrunnerorange
      @roadrunnerorange Před 3 měsíci

      If you kill your diffs - its those bigger wheels. Stick with 1/8 buggy wheels. The squealing is the crappy stock slipper - the new center diff takes care of that, handles much better, and more even tire wear.

    • @captaincouldverc

      If you're having diff issues and want to run bigger tires, go get some aluminum yokes.
      You would be surprised how strong these plastic diffs are.
      The best 3s diff upgrade is getting aluminum yokes.
      Once I replaced those a few years ago, I never had diff issue again on my 3s typhon with these tires.

      I did that before I did the yokes and still had problems. Could've been exacerbated by the heavy mx28 tires.
      But once I changed it the plastic diff yokes, every diff problem I had went away.
      Still running 1 plastic input too.
      The plastic yokes flex, and the yokes are what keep your input gear properly meshed with the crown gear. Lose the mesh, lose your gear.
      Replacing them with aluminum was something I wish I would've done sooner.
