as a middle eastern too-i think you'd be surprised how much the middle eastern cuisine is influenced by the Indian,my head only can come up right now with amba which is actually from India and not Iraq but i'm sure a quick google search would know more,also,the influence of Indian on African cuisine and vice versa exists!(:

When my mom doesn't have the energy to cook , she makes bhel and papdi chaat and that's honestly the best dinner i could ask for :) altho I'm surprised they didn't put more toppings in the papdi chaat , we usually have onions , tomatoes , green chutney , tanerind chutney , curd , chickpeas/potatoes and spices on top with coriander
You should attend different different weddings from different parts of India. Each part has it’s own tradition, food, culture. You will enjoy a lot. And an Bengali wedding and bengali food is ❤ you will fall in love.

basmati rice is mostly eaten in north India btw, although they eat other rice varieties as well. In other parts of India, we get different varieties of rice.
