Russia's Chechnya marks capital city's 200th anniversary with 200 weddings

- Two hundred couples got married to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic in Russia on Friday. The ceremony was held in the capital's flower park and the Chechen government organized massive celebrations for the city's anniversary.

There are almost 20 million muslims in Russia. Islam arrived in russia around 7th century AD.

If a Russian were living in France with a French passport he would still call himself Russian unless he's a wimp and abandoned his culture. And we Chechens use 'Russian' as a swear word amongst ourselves. If someone does something wrong he's a "russian". If someone's an unbeliever he's a "Russian"... So call a Chechen russian he's gonna fight you.

Chechen girls marry inside their nation only, mixed marriages are very rare exceptions. Noone will beat anyone up for "laying eye" on a Chechen girl, provided the guy stays decent and polite. It's about cultural restrictions which dont allow for Chechens to marry outside their nationality. The same rule counts for Chechen guys, too!
