- The only female AV-8B Harrier pilot in the Marine Corps
AV-8B Harrier II is a single-engine ground-attack aircraft that constitutes the second generation of the Harrier Jump Jet family, capable of vertical or short takeoff and landing. The aircraft is primarily employed on light attack or multi-role missions, ranging from close air support of ground troops to armed reconnaissance.

Some say the Harrier is a difficult aircraft to fly. If she could fly, then she must be a pilot of very high caliber. Much respect to her.
There is a minimum flight school score to fly the harrier because of its quirks. She's a stud.
I would smash lol
from what I know Harriers are notoriously the hardest & most dangerous jets to fly.
she definitely is a cut above even the best.
@Jankeee Dogfighting does not make jets harder to fly. Harriers are notoriously hard to fly Since 1971 over 143 non-combat accidents and 45 of those FataL.
Thats like 2-3 crashes a year. 1 death every other year? Yikes!
Even the Russian gave up on their Vertical take-off aircraft because of crashes.
Jet aren't meant to hover like a Helicopter. It takes so much skill and concentration to fly the Analog Harrier. Unlike the new F35 which has digitally computer controlled hover.
To many moving parts, to timely and costly to repair. A recipe for danger & disaster.
I unfortunately witnessed 2 at Cherry point N.C. while out on the flight line. It is like balancing on the head of a pin...3 hands and 2 feet to fly them. She is a cut Above other pilots.
@@deanmiles3505 I was gonna say something similar having served there too. One lieutenant punched out twice in less than two years if memory serves me right. He came out sideways after his aircraft rolled 90° unexpectedly and no more than a couple hundred feet AGL and for a few months the poor guy had a pretty gnarly limp. He wasn't the most popular pilot due to being rather arrogant at times. I'm wondering what the AV-8B drivers are going to transition to once the reminder of the platforms are sold then shipped out to other countries or shrink wrapped in Arizona.
@@fz1000red I know this is real late. They will fly the f35 which has a vtol variant.
@@deanmiles3505 What sqdn? I was MALS-32 ASE/GSE.
Her Dad must be SO proud !!
I am in awe of this officer- she is articulate, thoughtful, caring and clearly a patriot. She is obviously very intelligent and the sky is the limit for her. With such gifted and dedicated personnel in our armed forces we shall always have the best military. And she is Beautiful. Thank you for your service and God Bless our armed forces personnel.
well said
Man her career track is PERFECT...get back from combat tour in the latest Harrier AV-8B to start training on the F-35B (or C). What a cool job
Well done young lady, you are certainly deserving of every respect for getting to where you are, and for attaining all you have. I hope that your male counterparts are also respectful of you. All the very best and have a safe and long life.
She is capable and motivated and I'm happy to be a part of one of the world's greatest fighting forces with this Marine. Semper Fi, USMC - '87-'92
About 40 years ago when I started working on aircraft maintenance in Japan, a female pilot of the US Navy came to a test flight. She was married, but she said she was working on a ship as a couple.
My hero!
Several years ago, I took my sons to an air show at NAS-JAX. We got to see a Jump Jet lift off, turn toward the crowd (as in US!) and just set there, hovering. It was quite scary having that thing aimed right at us.
Thank you, young lady for your service. You are especially wonderful and ... you have very pretty eyes! If you don't like that, then land your 8B in my front yard and take a swing at me ... I'll probably let you connect ... but one time only, OK?
And oh yeh ... I hope you had a great time in that Lightning!
An inspiration for both of my daughters. Semper Fi!
I was a designer on this aeroplane back in 1963 it’s code name then was Kestrel .
Actually?
@Christopher De Tar No it wasn't.
Nothing secret about the P.1127 Kestrel.
Congratulations Ma’am on your dedication and accomplishments. It’s awesome to see women flying combat.
The only Harrier in the USMC that’s a female.....if she went through the same requirements as anyone else who cares....a pilot is a pilot
This young lady is impressive and awesome. A credit to her family. 😻👌
I was stationed at Cherry point in the 1980's as a Marine flight equipment / parachute rigger. I packed many of the chutes for Harriers. I was very fortunate to also get a back seat ride in the 2 seat A-4. (OA-4M) H&MS-32.
Stay safe, Semper Fidelis!
Wow, I'm pretty much in awe right now. Thank you for your service Ma'am. Bless you, Gods speed.
It take a very dedicated and talented Pilot to fly that bird. So proud and glad she is up there and looking out for both us and our troops on the ground.
Semper Fi Maam. You are a leader. I'm so jealous. Oorah!
Thank you for your service to our country. 👍🏽🇺🇸
Congratulations ma'am and thank you for your service! Semper Fi

I am a usmc vet and was at Mag 32 MCAS cherry point (av8b harriers)back in the 80s and 90s...Semper fi!
Semper Fi, stay safe. When I was stationed at Camp Lejeune N.C. in 74, we had a Harrier crash during field operations. I think it was July. Unfortunately the pilot didn't survive.
...lost two in yuma, pilots also. Damned shame, both were my OIC's. Was there '79-'87...

God bless you.
Capt. Pugnacious, I love it! Semper Fi from an old Maine
What a great role model! Thank you.
When i was a USMc Grape we called the AV8B “whistling buckets of sh1t”. Didn’t matter if it was a WM or MM Dark Green or Light Green, She is a Marine.
Semper Fi, Marine. You have just explained Marine esprit de corp. USMC '87-'92, Desert Storm vet.
Excellent example of a Marine Aviation Officer. SF
Cool video. My Uncle was a helicopter pilot in Canada.
Outstanding Marine! Absolutely outstanding! I salute you!
Aren't all Marines outstanding in their own field?
Congratulations Captain, hope you like the F-35.
About 6 years ago a Marine Harrier had serious issues over Imperial Airport in California, not far from Yuma MAS (where this pilot was stationed at the time of this video). The female pilot ejected and the plane landed in a street with houses nearby, burning two of them seriously. She was knocked unconscious, a not un-typical ejection occurrence, but was otherwise unharmed. Likewise, no one on the ground was injured as there was no one home in the houses that received the most damage.
I wonder if this was her.... 🤔
This is anyone interested in Military Aviation flying in all types of Aircraft to not give up on a dream to go out and do it
I think she’ll find hovering in an F35B easier. The base of the nozzles is wider.
About 45 years ago I was crazy about the A-4E Sky hawk that was assigned to MCAS Iwakuni
Idon't have that poto now, bui I live in my memory, Ilike VMA311
I worked on the TA-4F and OA-4M's of Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron 12 in 1980 and 1981. Spent 5 years of my life in Iwakuni. Love the A-4.
I discovered a love of Japanese culture while stationed in Iwakuni from ‘88-90. I first worked for H&MS 15 GSE on wing side. I came back soon as part of H&MS 12 GSE. The primary jets while I was there was were legacy F/A-18s and later AV-8Bs.
So cute and brave, weldone ma'am, welcome to Thailand
Well done so cool
Impressive lady flying a fabulous airplane...made in Britain!
Training to fly the single seat F-35 which is a joint program shared by 9 countries.
affirmative action
@@africanlipplateandbonenose3223 No affirmative action in military aviation.
Ours were made in St. Louis, MO. USA.😉
@Steve Price. Later versions of the Harrier were joint ventures between Bae and McDonnel Douglas/Boeing. So no it would have been made in US. But still has British Rolls Royce Pegasus engine.
Wait what?! She’s gonna be a Lightning pilot!! WOOT WOOT!
Jesus 10 years working on that plane and not once have I heard it referred to as the 'Jump Jet' outside of PR videos like this.
Here in Britain it's always been the jump jet....
... filipinos called them "mosquito monsters" at subic bay, the Philippines...
Didn’t think I would say this about a fellow marine but she cute and very squared away 😊👍 semper fi marine😊👍

A lady Navy pilot showed me around "her" A-4 at Vance AFB OK in 1979 while my UPT class 80-02 was undergoing flt tng. A-4 mission was to test the Navy fleets' electronic countermeasures. There must have been few tactical jet billets/slots for women in the late 1970s.
Why did you place quotation marks on her gender? Don’t you know the diff between her and him?
@@user-we5pd7ds5o I think he was just noting that the airplane belonged to the Navy, not to "her" personally.
Hats Off To You Smart Lady
Great to see That Marine Aviation is moving forward!!
Exceptional.
She's amazing!!!
Great story. Live long and well Ma’m. Cheers.
DCS Harrier pilots, unite! :D
I still don't get why few people fly the harrier in game... it's a fantastic module.

When we think of the Superman movie franchise top 10, Supergirl isn't usually at the top of the list but she proves she's a top gun. Give it wings and she could put it in the air.
Capt Casey congratulations on being selected for F-35 flight training. Semper Fi GySgt Retired. How did you do on the F-35 ma'am?
Well done devildog ! 💪🏻
We had a female pilot when I was with the Blacksheep years before this.
I once had the foolish notion there was nothing better than the F/A-18. My CO got wind of my Congressman appointing me to West Point and was excited for me and ordered me to report to his office. I wish I had said something neutral or Harriers when he asked what platform I wanted to fly, but I stupidly ignored the fact he was a Harrier driver and when I answered the
F/A-18 his response was, "My f*¢king Grandma wants to fky the F18! Why don't you want to fly Harriers?" To this day I don't remember the rest of the conversation and in the end wound up as a commissioned officer in law enforcement. I truly envy those who are fortunate to fly for the Marine Corps and all of our services. Semper Fi my friends!
He could’ve ensured you at least fit another craft to fly, why did he throw you into the Law Enforcement section after you went through all the stress of commissioning?
Awesome
From the harrier to the f35. Go PUG go!
Harrier was called a widowmaker. Between 1971 and 2002, 45 Marine pilots were killed in 143 noncombat accidents in Harriers. It's not a very good airplane when you consider everything about it.

Semper Fi!! This is a special person. We need a lot more like her. She is amazing and a real inspiration. I wonder if she got her F-35?
Why do we need more like her?
@@citizen_or_civilian Because she's a capable pilot who would likely kill the opposition in the sky. This quality in general is what we need more of, can never have enough.
Wow you're beautiful u.s pilot very stunning and impressive ...

U have no Idea how Awesome you are, I had a little sister that wanted that, ,
This IS Royal Scottich Marine in wrong uniform , what a surprise ,you have these smart beasts too.
Can’t understand why the UK doesn’t have these aircraft anymore on of the best we’ve had..
Uk sold all the old Harriers (as they were known), with all spares and of course know how to the USA for a modest amount of cash, after spending zillions on r and d in the beginning ,so we now had a down payment to the US for the latest version of our own technology!? The Mc Donnell Douglas AV8b was furthered in its service by having the tail plane finished in Carbon Fibre derivatives that enabled much longer periods between re skinning of the underside in particular! Still just in service in the US I believe? Phenomenal aircraft for it’s time! British at its very best!
@@nigelparker5886 I'm suprised they'd retire them all like that, there definitely aging but we push em a little with some upgrades, likely to be replaced by the F35 vstol variant, i cant remember its designation.
@@nigelparker5886 The US - will remain in Marine Corps service until sometime in CY2029 - Italy and Spain continue to fly the Harrier II.

There's no missile hung under the outer pylon, that pylon has a missile rack hung on it.
