Sept. 6, 2001: I hope this week doesn't get any worse...
The 11th was at the start of the week. The 6th should be the week prior.
pretty sure it's the 9th of June. Which is also wrong because the BM incident happened may 16th (And the next few days)
Unless this is meant to be a report from a few weeks after it all went down, idk.
@RainbowsClone In the report the message from NM authorities is dated September 6, 2001.
What could possibly be worse? A terrorist attack that kills thousands? What are the odds of THAT happening?

Nothing happened to the Aperture Science Laboratories Computer-Aided Enrichment Center.
@@nathanchapin8445 If we're to go off of what's said in the games and such, the lab was simply locked down, and nobody knew why. This AI stuff is getting spooky. 5 years ago this would have genuinely alarmed a lot of people. Really only the monotonous voices, especially the one of the off-screen reporter in the news conference, are the major giveaways.
99% of people would not know this is fake. Most people are not paying attention.
@@christoffesedao3579 With everything as hopeless as it is now, why would you want to?
Nice to see the first 90s-2000s U.S. newscast on this channel. Dan Rather sounds a bit off, but I am legitimately blown away by how accurate Rumsfeld's cadences and speech mannerisms are. One small critique: the Microsoft logo at 0:17 is from 2012, it should be the famous Helvetica wordmark from the 90s instead.
Was also gonna point that out, but hey, already done, so thanks chap
@@Epentibi You should also do your homework on military equipment and uniforms. The fighter jet is an F-22, which entered service in 2005; the uniforms are OCP/Multicam, not adopted until the 2010s; and the "tanks" on the railcars are actually M88 Hercules ARVs, basically giant tow trucks. If you need to consult with someone you should do so- I and many others can assist you with this sort of stuff.
@@Epentibi also I recommend using cars made from the early 2000s and below
The TNO stuff is already great, but this makes me realize that this format has pretty much endless potential.
My buddy used to work at Black Mesa as a security guard. He quit before the incident, thankfully, but he told me about some weird stuff going down there.
He ever meet that Barney guy who went crazy and posted that video where he claimed to have fought aliens and zombies during a power outage or something?
@@apexone5502 The usual government stuff. He used to guard top secret shipments in the rail yard. He saw this one government guy with a suit on a lot.

If there ever is some supposed "accident" that brings heavy military response and the officials will be twisting their tongue and sweating trying to downplay it - Ya know it's time to get the hell out of there.
very realistic answer for any government, even democracies, because considering that the installation does research with materials and alien life and then an incident of this type happens and threatens national security (especially considering that the government sent military forces and then black ops agents ( CIA SAD) to eliminate the evidence and witnesses that would tarnish the government's image and are also facing aliens) and to avoid causing panic and perhaps rebellions and an insurrection against the government, it is not unrealistic for the US government to have done this, whatever country would do this
But in the end we will be invaded by the most powerful empire in the entire universe (I think) in under 7 hours.

I'm certainly put at ease by the words of Reliable Rumsfeld.
"The Black Mesa facility is located somewhere north, south, east or west of Taos" IYKYK
That's insanely well made, holy hell. Genuinely believable.
Should have used the early 2000s era Microsoft logo at the beginning instead of the current one
I love you combining 2000s news broadcasts with things like Half-Life. Throwing in real-life public officials like Rumsfeld adds authenticity.
"And so, without anyone from the national and international audience knowing that just at that moment an inter-dimensional alien invasion was happening in Black Mesa, it would only be the beginning of something much, much worse."
I love how you included the in-universe Northern Petrol into the new newscast. Very well done!

This feels like a new type of horror where you just look at the hyper realistic news reports about upcoming end of the world. Good job/
Eh, don't think it's new - Local 58 was a thing before, but this with the help of AI (or VO in general) feels more natural
@@ChainikVladNatural? It looks fucking uncanny. The mouth movement is bizarre. The ai voices are wooden. Never mind that it's written like shit.
This is literally the coolest thing ever, after having just watched this documentary from 2008 called Wake Up Call - New World Order, this footage just blends seamlessly with that perfect early 2000s conspiracy unfolding vibe.
As an environment artist working on the opposing force and blue shift remake, Operation: Black Mesa, I almost wish it were possible to include something like this as an Easter egg. I'm not sure if it is though due to source engine limitations, but this really does feel like a slice of half life bleeding into the real world.
Excellent use of footage, I particularly like that you included the shot from inside the Titan II missile silo. I'm curious what was that subterranean water reservoir that resembled the half life 1 sewer system/lower canal?
0:17 that's the wrong Microsoft logo for 2001 ☝️🤓
The English is janky, like it was scripted by someone who doesn't speak natively.
Epentibi touching on Half Life content is a huge and welcome suprise. from looking at other content creators trying the same thing (and succeeding), news reports of the Incident, Xen invasion, 7 Hour war and aftermath would be incredible
you never fail to deliver
Am I the only one that noticed the Black Mesa incident takes place only 5 days before 9/11?
but didn't the incident occur on December 5, 2000? and the seven hour war at the beginning of 2001?
Poor Osama the interdimensional aliens took the spotlight from his big bad evil plan :(
@@federalinvestigationbureau5814 people say it happened in the 1990s 2003 or 2000 but I personally believe it happened in December of 2000 never heard someone say right before 9/11
Yeah, the black mesa stuff got overshadowed completely.
I still remember being a kid back then and some people were talking about some "Free man" with a crowbar, probably another terrorist.
People watching this on 9/6/2001: "Man, can this month get ANY worse?!"
I dunno, I'm looking forward to that new Japanese turn-based strategy game getting released... should be interesting. :)
I was in the 8th grade when 9/11 happened. I watched the second plane hit the tower live as my mom was yelling at me to stop watching TV and brush my teeth. Seeing Donald Rumsfeld give press conference about Black Mesa took me right back to being 12 in a weird, not so great way...
If Dr. Coomer doesn't make an appearance, I'm not watching
Sadly he was at a Canadian university giving a lecture with his colleague Dr. Gooner when all of this happened
Oh my god we need more of this Half LIfe stuff. It'd be interesting if you could try to incorporate the EAS broadcast messages from Black Mesa into the second part as I think it would add more to the immersion.
This is terryfying, why is this so well made
If this is happening 5 days before September 11th, wouldnt that imply 9/11 was a cover up operation for the Black Mesa Incident?
Maybe Bin Laden saw the aliens and was like "damn, lets give the americans a break"
the incident must have occurred on December 5, 2000 and the seven hour war on February 2, 2001 based on the two videos of that guy who made the situation in the world after the black mesa incident and its consequences at national level (USA) and global level
Man, that old CBS tune was a blast from the past.
This is horrifying.
Just think - while that press conference is happening, there is a man in an orange hazard suit running around murking soldiers to the tune of Modern Major General.
There's part two. We are truly blessed 🙏
They also mentioned Northern Petrol. Cool attention to detail.
Only thing that threw me off was a US soldier wearing OCP when we were still in BDUs back then
I noticed that you used VHS cassette glitching and artifacting in order to help mask the tweaks to people’s mouths when getting their lips to sync up with the dialogue for the video. Definitely helps that the video is grainy as well. I’m impressed, good job! 😊
Soldier wearing the camo from the future, they used woodland in 2001 not the OCP
They also showed Struker vehicles that didn’t begin production until 2002, but there’s a level of suspension of disbelief there I guess.
Striker that is the correct name of the vehicle but you are right the US army was still testing the striker and it had not entered service and mass production in 2001 (and the black mesa incident did not occur on December 5, 2000? and Did the Seven Hours War happen at the beginning of February 2001?)@@warweasel2832
On this guys's defence there's an interdimensional alien invasion going on caused by human experiments and the black mesa research facility has developed stuff like the TAU cannon and the displacer cannon so maybe they developed that other stuff sooner
The games also had VTOL aircraft that were only in experimental phases at that time. Half life is not a series that worries about realism lol@@warweasel2832

@@SDVHILzseriolih its still unknown what exact year resonance cascade happened, it could be any year from 2000 to 2009
This is pretty good and im watching live, you should make a Seven Hour War news broadcast
no, first he has to do it about the destructive meteorological events and disposition of alien life on earth, then about the joint committee of both the Democratic and Republican parties on the incident and the testimony of the former administrator of the black mesa research facility and the employees survivors, then the chaotic situation in the world and then the detection by the United Nations and multiple space agencies of the arrival of the Combines and then the Seven Hours War and the unconditional surrender of all UN members
This is unbelievable good - especially the Rumsfeld briefing. I have no idea how you did this, but you are a master. Well done.
Nice choice of stock footage in 1:21. I think it's the Titan Missile Museum near Tucson, AZ.
Fun fact, the incident opened up a wormhole in time as well as space, which is why this broadcast has a Microsoft logo that didn't exist until 2012
ABSOLUTE CINEMA
this is genuinely good work, subbing for part 2!
0:32 Did they sample it from Mike Tyson or something? "Black maytha retherch facthilty"
The interview with the soldier is a bit of a mistake. He's wearing the modern OCP uniform while back in 2001 they would be wearing BDUs with either M81 woodland or tri color "coffee stain" desert camo.
I know it's sounds dumb, but maybe the HECU were testing out new gear for the military, before they send the new gear to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq they decided to use this incident for "trials on the field" stuff.
@@OnxGrid"Afghanistan and Iraq" bro the black mesa incident occurred even before the September 11 attacks, so there is no invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq

You need far more attention for these videos - great job !

If you are going to continue with half-life universe after that, I would be pretty interested to look at the news report regarding aperture science senate hearings about missing astronauts if possible.
this scratches my itch for Black Mesa vhs/eas content thank you
I also dig the usage of army footage as I think whilst the USMC were the door kickers, there was still a sizeable presence of national guardsmen handling the whole evacuation thing as well ad giving the HECU air assets to work with. I guess it’s possible to write off them being in OCP since they were being phased in and replacing the old UCP during the late 2000s
Good job, just a minor mistake. You used the modern MS logo syle in report that should be over 20 years old. Back in the 2000s the windows logo was a bit more detailed than just 4 squares
HALF-LIFE FANS ASSAMBLE!
This and the 1984 one is pretty cool, I like that you're branching out into other worlds
Tuned in for Part II, thanks.
The only thing I notice that is a bit amiss (given the time period), is the production F-22A Raptor flying four years before it’s disclosed “put into service date” found easily on Wikipedia.
"They're waiting for you, Donald... in the Press chamber..."
And then the Combine came.
Then the Pentagon bought 1200 crowbars at $23,000 a piece…
How was, literally ANY of this made? I feel left in the dust when it comes to technology these days. I know some of this is AI, but, I'm honestly floored. How was this done? A making-of would be captivating.
This was wonderful to watch, just a thing, on the microsoft antitrust part at the beggining of the video, you used the new microsoft logo instead of the one from the 90's lol
I don't know what's going on (Half Life is a game, I think? Never played it and only heard the name used).. but the whole reason I clicked was because this "happened" on my birthday back in '01. 😂 This is SO very good! If one wasn't aware of AI they'd think it was real for sure.
I love the vibe of old broadcasts and you captured it wonderfully!

Thanks for archiving this footage
I know a lot of news coverage from 2001 was really wild
Very good, but 1:49 change the word "sufficient" to "further" from "without giving a sufficient explanation".
Epentibi, you the best👍
This is the proper use of AI - not trying to have it write poorly written fiction but rather as an easy to use SFX tool far beyond the capabilities of a human trying to manually splice audio files...
It's particularly interesting that this video shows up on my feed right as I'm playing through Black Mesa right now
Love these types of things. Big tip though. If you are able to edit these digitally, then export them to VHS, then re-digitize that VHS tape. The authenticity feeling goes up by a huge factor. Applying filters to generate an analog feel has come a long way. But it's fantastic to see how these look when re-digitized.
These days Epentibi comes out with one banger after another
Worst deepfake ever
It’s crazy how this is just days before September 11th
Thank you for the description. It helps.
This was fantastic. I would love to see a version of the events that took place in Zanzibarland and Outer Heaven back in the '90s. Also, one tiny critique...Americans wouldn't print the date like that. It should read 9-6-2001.
amazing vid ! I would love to see part II :D
This was the biggest news story of September 2001.
This is great! I am appalled by the attention to detail. The sound quality, video quality, all fitting for that era. The slight pause that Rumsfeld made, when he didn't know how to answer the question. All around just a great piece of work, great use of AI. I applaud you and i'm waiting for the next piece :)
OMG this is awesome. I remember in the early 2000s me and my friends would speculate on how the US gov would communicate the black mesa incident to the public and this is right on. Great editing so cool.
Damn, hopefully they’re all ok and there aren’t any hazardous materials involved.
This is too freaking cool you have earned my sub!
That is some damn fine editing! The repetitive and slightly unnatural head tilts kind of give it away, but the follow-up clips are near flawless 👌

- Microsoft logo is incorrect, I got that thank you
- Some people ask if the date here "contradicts" the actual date of the incident, but really there isn't a canon date for the incident, even the original creators contradict with some other Valve devs, so I just picked a random time (or not so random) given the likely span when it occurred.
Also, the Microsoft logo you used is the modern version and not the one they were using back in 2001.
Minor one: when he’s supposed to say “$10 billion” he actually just says “10 billion”. Probably better to write it out as “10 billion dollars”.
