I never thought I could be so effected by someone I've never met. His death is so incredibly hard to deal with. We ❤ you Allison.
@Sarah Lyman --- I feel the same way; to have never met someone and feel so touched by his life and death is really a testament to his spirit. I'm so saddened that he felt he could not go on, yet he was so loved. I'm heartbroken for his wife and kids.

Twitch's death hit me so hard and I don't even know him. I can imagine what this precious family is going through. I've followed his career from the beginning. He was such a beautiful person. It broke my heart when I heard what happened. I love that Allison continues to talk about mental health and his legacy in a positive way. Sending love and hugs.

I dont think she is okay though but because she is doing so well for the kids then she is doing okay in her head. What an absolute tragedy this poor woman has been through - going through. Agree it’s a long road. Her kids lives are forever changed. This is a serious trauma and she seems to be trying to figure out how to move through it. Feel annoyed that people felt a need to do box her into this glossy afternoon special when the convo could be about the realities of suicide and suicide prevention. Wishing her and her family lots of healing on the road ahead.
Alison was my absolute favorite dancer on that first season of SYTYCD, and I loved watching tWitch-the humor and joy he brought to his dancing. Years later I wondered what had happened to Alison Holker, and was delighted to learn that the two of them were a couple and had a family. Likewise, hearing of his death was devastating. I’m not surprised that she is handling this with such beauty and grace, just so sad for what everyone lost.
I can’t help but to think that if things were as good as she says, and I don’t doubt that they were, what went wrong? I think that’s what people would really like to know. How does this happen to a family that is so joyous and supportive?
This is what I’m wondering too. But it’s still so fresh, she might be more open in the future. Not that she’s not being open, but there is an elephant in this conversation.
That's what mental health issues do. They consume you regardless of what's seen on the surface. It's like asking someone who has a broken bone, "why is your bone broken if everything in your life is going so well?" ❤
Sometimes the happiest or what appears as the happiest might not truthfully be. And he clearly kept it to himself clearly to, horrible deep place to be in. Heartbreaking but its more common than you might think
It was a personal battle he was going thru himself. Depression isn’t a choice …I go thru it everyday.
Ffrom what Kallan(sp?) has mentioned they would "check in" with each other. So there was for sure mental health stuff going on, but we all mask it so well that no one ever expects someone to die from suicide. :(

As a retired pro dancer and fan of Twitch, I loved him SO much. God bless his family. Allison is clearly such a wonderful soul - her children are so lucky she is their mom, and I wish all of them the very best. ❤

This is what our world needs more of, living with love and joy. I hope that this makes a difference in the truly inspirational way we can learn from this tragedy.

I'm so happy to see her talking about their lives. I hardly knew who Stephen Boss was, not having watched Ellen's show, but seeing their love shining in all of their dance vids, made me very sad and shocked about his death. Her grace is just astounding. She honors him, beautifully.

It’s sweet to see her positivity, I think it’s a coping mechanism. What he did was selfish no matter how much everyone wants to sugar coat it. His family never deserved this.
I get how it can appear that way but you also have to realize he wasnt in his right frame of mind to do what he did. I dont think for a second that he wanted to leave his family or leave them without a will. The internal pain must have been so hard for him. That is how I look at it.
Absolutely! It's more sad that he felt that he could not talk to his wife about his demons.
Maybe he wasn't selfish and didn't do this to himself. Allison's story and the police investigation that was closed too quickly are both full of holes.

Based on your statement, it sounds like you’ve never been through mental health struggles because sometimes people do snap. I would just like to know from a professional perspective why some people don’t reach out. But whatever he was going consumed him. Suicidal thoughts are very powerful and can often take over any logic. I’ve experienced it.

I watched Ellen for a long time, when Steven came on the show it made it brighter. He had a special thing that many don't have. He made you feel love happiness, just for entering the room. I obviously didn't know him personally, but you could feel it from the tv screen. He was just pure light. I have cried the ugly cry for few celebrities that have passed and Steven was one of them. He truly was a light that brighter this world. He will be missed so much. 😭😭😭RIP Steven Boss.
Allison you are the definition of strength. instead of hiding in your pain, you are showing what strength is. How you can still be standing. I know you missed him so much. Keep being strong for your kids & especially for yourself. Rise those kids to be good human beings just like their dad. Because we need more lights in this world to shine.
Mental illness is no joke. It can take you to very dark place and sometimes you can't climb back up from that dark hole. That's why I always say that this country needs more resources. Free health care. Because most of time people don't get help is because they can't afford health insurances. The mind so very delicate. Steven that was pure light happiness pure love, couldn't climb back. This world is doomed. I just hope our government does more and changes things so not another Steven is taken from us.

I can’t help but feel like this isn’t completely forthcoming. She spoke mostly about positive, happy emotions. That is good to try to have a positive outlook, but also you do need a space to express and work through feelings like anger and sadness which I imagine have to be there as well. Her kids need to be able to work through that when they have those hard emotions too. It feels like that was just glossed over. I also want to know how aware she was of his struggles.

I came here hoping to find her talking about the emptiness she feels losing a man filled with so much joy and how she’s coping not being able to give back that joy and be there for him and how she hopes to fill that void. I didn’t expect to see a fully healed woman talking about her husbands death like a little hiccup and how she and her family have moved on.
She was gold digger in the fire place in my opinion when she was on So you think you could dance. She kept pushing herself on him.
He was a meal ticket for her and the little girl she had at the time.
This was not some love story it was a set up.

Well, she seems to say the right things, even if she shows no real emotion about Twitch. What she says could have been written for her as well.
She's describing this sort of Disney life, which is very hard to believe considering the fact that he struggled so much that he ended up taking his own life. I very much doubt Stephen would've taken his own life if everything was as rosy as she describes it. It's as if she's still holding onto this public image they created, that eventually seems to have suffocated him.
No marriage is that rosy. I believe he genuinely gave it his all, but something happened between the two of them that leveled him and quickly sent him over the edge. Society is quick to diagnose a suicide as "depression" although many people are pushed to their breaking point and see suicide as the only way out. A lie never lives forever.
@@nonambe7891 why does it have to be a marital issue? You have no idea why he took his own life or that he wasn’t depressed. Many people can mask depression very well. Anyone that saw these two together could see the love they had for each other. Even the dancing video filmed just 2 days before his death showed that. Suicide never makes sense to us because for most of us, we tell ourselves simply couldn’t ever do it. I’m sure at one point he thought the same. People loved these two together but for some reason people have become cynical and want to make her the issue. Like they need somebody to blame. Suicide is never understandable but it happens for reasons that for most, we’ll never know.

Sometimes when people take their own life it’s because of internal struggles with in their own mind & has nothing to do with their families, work, kids or life in general….that’s what mental illness is.❤

I’ve always loved these two. I remember watching them in SYTYCD. I’m amazed at Allison’s ability to speak so eloquently so soon after his death. It sounds like they had the perfect family. It just makes me wonder… were there no signs? She didn’t speak on HIS depression. It’s important to tell the whole story so people can understand. With depression, there’s the good, the bad, and the ugly as they say. This makes people think you can be skipping along along in life as happy as can be and one day snap. That’s a scary prospect for those who don’t understand depression. Im not judging… I’m just saying nobody’s life is perfect. My ❤ goes out to them… especially the children.
