It's because nowadays civil servants want to work jobs without having any accountability. All of a sudden they think they're untouchable. They'll play the bureaucracy game when you hold them up to that accountability. You have to play their game back with them. In this case the parent needs to inform the director that they will hold them 100% accountable on a civil level (legally), even if it requires going public and demanding that the director resigns from their job. These civil servants, like within any private sector job, must realize that they're not so important to their establishment that their bosses will take the hit for them. The minute they cost their establishment money, bad PR, or risk the jobs or future promotions of their superiors etc, their superiors will show them the door and it's "Hello unemployment line." And even if the director is aligned with their teacher, when the SHTF, they will have no loyalty towards them and will look out for their own self interest and job. Welcome to the real world! I’m a teacher and the constant redirects to other people pisses me off so much. No one holds themselves accountable and it’s always everyone else’s fault. Administration does nothing and labels you as difficult for speaking up and confronting them. If you do this before tenure, you might as well leave because they’ll deny you tenure for petty reasons. The main reason there are so many bad teachers in America is because you have set your teacher standards so low that anyone can be a teacher and you pay people so badly that you have to do two jobs. In Australia I earned more as a graduate teacher than my friend in Massachusetts did after 20 years and as head of Grade 7. Her husband is a teacher in a very hard school after only having done a 6 week course. Many US teachers wouldn't be able to be teachers in Australia, and many Australian teachers wouldn't be able to be teachers in Finland due to their extremely high entrance requirement. High standards, good pay and you'll see the problem fixed in around... 40 years. To the idea of parents choosing teachers.... Just no. Every parent's favourite teacher at my kids school made a point of triggering my kid so that he would run out of his class. My boy spent a total of 3 full days in the classroom the entire year as he was terrified. He is a foster child who suffered such extreme abuse that it's used in police case studies. I advised the school that my boy is triggered to flee if you lean over him so that teacher did it every time he came in the classroom. He has done similar things to every kid with moderate behaviour problems for 20 years. It's easy to teach a class when you remove the kids who actually need your help. He is really handsome and charismatic so all the parents love him. However, I was the Year 4 teacher and I was given two Year 5 students because they wouldn't go in his classroom. The Year 6 teacher had to take another two students. Two well behaved kids from each of our classes were put in his class to make up the difference. It happens every year but because the parents love him so much the principal just accommodates it... Worst thing is he still doesn't get as good results as the other teachers in the school. Parents just think he does. In contrast, my boy's current teacher is a bit overweight, has a stressed look on her face and is not always the best at parent communication. My boy has only run out of her class once and has come forward in leaps and bounds. He, and two of the other kids with behaviour issues, have not had any problems in her class. She refuses to send homework home because the research is very clear on the detrimental impact of homework. Parents hate this and put complaints in because she won't 'extend' the kids by making them do school work at home when they should be playing. Mum's constantly gossip about her and make up reasons why she's single. I am convinced she gets a bad wrap because of how she looks as she is not a bad teacher. Fun fact - Parents and children rate a teacher's ability as higher if they are good looking. .. and kids actually get better results with more attractive teachers which always makes me laugh. Add to that the 'male teacher' being good for single kids and 'the boys.' I'm a male teacher and parents always thought I was an amazing teacher because I was a man. I left teaching 10 years ago because I, and my principal, both accepted I wasn't a good enough teacher. (Exactly what all teachers who aren't up to standard should do). I've just returned to relief teaching after having gained more experience. But my biggest issue with your system is that teachers apply to the best schools they can get into. A brilliant teacher will often apply for the nicest schools. This means the richer neighbourhoods get the best teachers. The worse teachers end up in the hardest schools. As a result, kids who need the best teachers get the worst teachers and kids who will succeed no matter how bad their teacher is will get the best teachers.

She basically started out by telling this man to go see her director because of his name not showing up on some list, yet she knew who he was there for and what it was about. It's because nowadays civil servants want to work jobs without having any accountability. All of a sudden they think they're untouchable. They'll play the bureaucracy game when you hold them up to that accountability. You have to play their game back with them. In this case the parent needs to inform the director that they will hold them 100% accountable on a civil level (legally), even if it requires going public and demanding that the director resigns from their job. These civil servants, like within any private sector job, must realize that they're not so important to their establishment that their bosses will take the hit for them. The minute they cost their establishment money, bad PR, or risk the jobs or future promotions of their superiors etc, their superiors will show them the door and it's "Hello unemployment line." And even if the director is aligned with their teacher, when the SHTF, they will have no loyalty towards them and will look out for their own self interest and job. Welcome to the real world! Not too many people will risk their own job or reputation to protect the decisions or actions of a coworker. Darn, so many people are self entitled nowadays that they're literally delusional. I’m a teacher and the constant redirects to other people pisses me off so much. No one holds themselves accountable and it’s always everyone else’s fault. Administration does nothing and labels you as difficult for speaking up and confronting them. If you do this before tenure, you might as well leave because they’ll deny you tenure for petty reasons. The main reason there are so many bad teachers in America is because you have set your teacher standards so low that anyone can be a teacher and you pay people so badly that you have to do two jobs. In Australia I earned more as a graduate teacher than my friend in Massachusetts did after 20 years and as head of Grade 7. Her husband is a teacher in a very hard school after only having done a 6 week course. Many US teachers wouldn't be able to be teachers in Australia, and many Australian teachers wouldn't be able to be teachers in Finland due to their extremely high entrance requirement. High standards, good pay and you'll see the problem fixed in around... 40 years.
To the idea of parents choosing teachers.... Just no. Every parent's favourite teacher at my kids school made a point of triggering my kid so that he would run out of his class. My boy spent a total of 3 full days in the classroom the entire year as he was terrified. He is a foster child who suffered such extreme abuse that it's used in police case studies. I advised the school that my boy is triggered to flee if you lean over him so that teacher did it every time he came in the classroom. He has done similar things to every kid with moderate behaviour problems for 20 years. It's easy to teach a class when you remove the kids who actually need your help. He is really handsome and charismatic so all the parents love him. However, I was the Year 4 teacher and I was given two Year 5 students because they wouldn't go in his classroom. The Year 6 teacher had to take another two students. Two well behaved kids from each of our classes were put in his class to make up the difference. It happens every year but because the parents love him so much the principal just accommodates it... Worst thing is he still doesn't get as good results as the other teachers in the school. Parents just think he does.
In contrast, my boy's current teacher is a bit overweight, has a stressed look on her face and is not always the best at parent communication. My boy has only run out of her class once and has come forward in leaps and bounds. He, and two of the other kids with behaviour issues, have not had any problems in her class. She refuses to send homework home because the research is very clear on the detrimental impact of homework. Parents hate this and put complaints in because she won't 'extend' the kids by making them do school work at home when they should be playing. Mum's constantly gossip about her and make up reasons why she's single. I am convinced she gets a bad wrap because of how she looks as she is not a bad teacher. Fun fact - Parents and children rate a teacher's ability as higher if they are good looking. .. and kids actually get better results with more attractive teachers which always makes me laugh.
Add to that the 'male teacher' being good for single kids and 'the boys.' I'm a male teacher and parents always thought I was an amazing teacher because I was a man. I left teaching 10 years ago because I, and my principal, both accepted I wasn't a good enough teacher. (Exactly what all teachers who aren't up to standard should do). I've just returned to relief teaching after having gained more experience.
But my biggest issue with your system is that teachers apply to the best schools they can get into. A brilliant teacher will often apply for the nicest schools. This means the richer neighbourhoods get the best teachers. The worse teachers end up in the hardest schools. As a result, kids who need the best teachers get the worst teachers and kids who will succeed no matter how bad their teacher is will get the best teachers.

She basically started out by telling this man to go see her director because of his name not showing up on some list, yet she knew who he was there for and what it was about. This man was not fooled by your diversionary tactic of go see my director. His response was classic, “nah I’m gonna tack to you.” One obvious question that was neither asked nor answered in this. I’m pretty sure the little boy simply wanted to wear a dress just to play not thinking anything other than having fun and the teacher allowed the boy to do so. But family wasn’t happy about it which, at the beginning, granddad was very vocal about not encouraging “transgenderism” in the house therefore it’s not okay for little boy to wear a dress UNLESS contacts are asked for permission. If the allegations the grandfather were making are true, I wholeheartedly support his intervening with that teacher's conduct personally. I just wanna say good for this grandfather for standing up for his grandson. We need more men to do this. Men, stand up for your children. Every man with a child in that classroom should be standing up. The only way this will change is if the fathers and grandfathers become involved. Kudos to that grandfather

Google search says this happened a few years ago, and like most daycares and kindergartens, they had a dress up box of costumes for the kids to put on during free time. The kid's parents are lesbians. They saw the boy putting on a dress and told him not to. The teacher said he should be allowed to wear the costume at school. The mom called her dad to come and yell at the teacher. It's very strange to me when LGBT people are transphobic.
But, he was raising his voice, and it was evident he was angry and that should not be happening in a classroom with children present.
