    after 8 years of attempting to do this on and off and never succeeding, tonight I decided to commit to learning how to do it. After watching this video, I finally got it. I swing my arms back and then bring them up and in, though. That just happened to work better for me. It's such a feeling of accomplishment to get this skill. Don't give up! Keep pushing!

    I find that doing a diving one-hand cartwheel with the hand far away was extremely beneficial. For example, if you cartwheel looking to your right with your left hand down first, doing a diving one-hand cartwheel where you skip your left hand and plant your right is nearly an aerial.

    @vwoods2 good question. the difference is where the lift is coming from. Yes, my arms throw forward but they do a full swing and the lift is actually when my arms are behind me. unlike a front flip where the lift is over hand kinda like you're throwing a ball. The timing is different. In this type of throw you want everything to connect down first (arms, legs bent) and then lift together (arms in back, front leg push, back leg kick)... hope this helps!! feel free to ask more questions :)

The thing i need your help is like to get to know how to restab more in depth and can you also show how to do windmills like with a flow because when i go back to my normal position i slow down and don't know how to do it in a swift motion. Would be great if you could put this in your next video, btw THANKS FOR REPLYING!

  • @monicamiyagi
    @monicamiyagi Před 12 lety

    @Lax4life9161 I agree with DawgFL. Front flips are completely different. A regular front flip takes off from a punch (two feet) which, especially on hard ground, can be more difficult. There is a front move in gymnastics that has the same kind of take-off as the aerial I showed, very similar to a 'loser' in breaking.

  • @monicamiyagi
    @monicamiyagi Před 12 lety

    @xVitinho10 I am right handed but I do all my skills as a lefty when it comes to gymnastics. Everyone is different. Usually you can determine if you are a 'lefty' or a 'righty' with your gymnastics skills just by trying a handstand or cartwheel. Whichever leg you naturally have in front is what you should train.

  • @monicamiyagi
    @monicamiyagi Před 12 lety

    @supersmashgopher Yes Bobabada... is right, a side flip is tucked and you land sideways. But you can throw a side flip with this same technique as an aerial. I do my side flip with the exact same arm swing but tuck and grab my legs instead. With side flips you can also run and punch, taking off of two feet or do it out of a round-off which is a different technique.

  • @scottiemartin7558
    @scottiemartin7558 Před 11 lety

    i used to do that a lot. if u take gymnastics classes, then try to do one on the spring floor. the spring floor gives you extra power and it does not hurt if u fall. it u dont take gymnastics, then try one on a trampoline. if u dont have one then the only thing to do it be brave and do it :D

  • @luislam96
    @luislam96 Před 12 lety

    @supersmashgopher A side flip is a flip (tucked) and an aerial is basically a no-handed cartwheel. Also, a side flip is harder and the set ups are different.

    @BboyingIsMyPassion Not sure which technique you're using but it sounds like you're landing short which is a rotation problem. Yes, try getting more height by pushing off your front leg and more rotation but kicking you back leg harder. A big thing is getting the timing right with your arms as well because if that's off all the kick and push isn't gonna get you anywhere. Landings come from take-offs, focus your energy on a good take off and the landing will be easy. Let me know if that helps!

    i actually got rid of the hands one day at the beach cuz i felt like i bailed out of the move and 'accidentally' landed on my foot... just whip your torso into a stretch position for your leg while kicking up hard with the other then bust a slight jump. for me to do this move i have to focus more on whipping around my upper torso and swinging my arm hard to make that happen. if i dont whip my arm i cannot do this move. although im a newbie at this. im also a guy and not that flexible
