I have come to the conclusion that Jin understands marketing. I base this on the many projects and products BTS developed. The videos of the guys developing their BT21 characters is an example. They all created characters with back stories but Jin has promoted his character RJ more than the other guys. He designed PJs as merchandise with RJ, he wears RJ figures on his head when he performs and he casually has RJ plush toys around him. On another show, they had to create characters for a video game. His character was the most popular. There are other examples but it all adds up to him having good marketing/business skills.

I have had the same thought! I think he would do amazing in that field, he would have some huge wins and some big fails because he can have an off the rails ideas. But hey that’s marketing. That’s why I hate when he says he doesn’t know what he is good at, he was great with the maple story internship.

    • @ZariDV
      @ZariDV Před rokem +5

The work he did with Wooteo is also pretty brilliant. He already knew that there was an established space theme in BTS's music (esp relating to ARMY) and he knew that he already cemented the idea of him being our Moon and us being his Earth. So to lean into that and re-establish himself as the astronaut leaving to someday return home was really great. More so to create Wooteo, give him his own Instagram account where Jin could talk to us for the first time on Insta, then give us a bunch of cute Wooteo merch/vids etc. So many of us quickly got emotionally attached to Wooteo and started making our own fan art and considering him as Jin's second son that he's leaving with us so we'd be comforted when he leaves. Him being the first to enlist, it was genius to create a comfort plushie to soothe grieving fans who may be sad, scared, angry, hurt that he had to go away. Truly amazing at marketing and also PR.
His Maple Story ideas were all really great and well-received as well when he was pitching them. It seemed like they would have happily hired him if they could because it was clear that, even as a player, he paid attention from the perspective of someone who collected ideas to make things better.

Yes. You articulated something I had been thinking about since Wootteo launched. I got an RJ plush after the Permission to Dance concerts and I happily picked up the Wootteo merch because Wootteo is so cool. I mean, he showed up on Jin's traditional alcohol journey and now Coldplay is good about having Wootteo accompany them on their tour.
(Not gonna lie. I occasionally take touristy photos with Wootteo as the tourist, just for fun. I would rather have Wootteo in the photo than myself.)
And how about Kore and SuperTuna.

Jin's philosophy helped me a lot actually. Im very similar to him in some ways, but I always had troubles with defining my goals and dreams in life. And I thought I was living my life wrong because I lived in the present, and because of people around me I felt a lot of pressure.
And when I discovered BTS and I heard Jin say that you can have a dream to just be happy, it helped me so much.
My life isnt ideal, I have a lot of stressfull situations and I feel unstable due to things going on in my country that I can't control, but I feel so much more at peace with myself because of what Jin said. I learned to enjoy to live in the present and cherish every day.

As far as I know 2018 was a hard year because they had started to really blow up internationally and they had no one in their company who could give them advice on how to handle the pressure because no one in their company had experienced what they were going through. I saw Jin saying that they were on the brink of breaking up when V suggested they go away together and talk it out. Poor V couldn’t stop crying even when he went off stage. They are so good at offering hugs when one of them is upset.
Yes, ‘bidet’ is a French word and what we here in the west think of as a bidet is not what you think of as a bidet. In Europe it’s a bit like a toilet without a seat and with a tap (faucet). Unless you buy a Japanese toilet/bidet you won’t be getting a jet of water or hot air to dry you off.
They have lived in several different dorms. I think the one where we see them in their bunks is the second one. Last year the lease was up on their last one so they moved all their stuff out because they’d been living in their own apartments for a couple of years. By that time they had separate rooms except for Jimin and J-Hope who continued to share.
Jin thinks of himself as not having much to offer but we know better. His mum used to talk about his brother with her friends but not about him. However, when he was accepted to university other pupils in his school went to look at the guy who got into the good university which did a lot for his self esteem. Jin has a child like quality to him. He loves the character he designed for their BT21 cartoons. He thinks of RJ as his son. He is thrilled if he sees a staff member with an RJ item on their bag. He carries a big one on the plane to cuddle although RJ was supplanted by Wootteo when he went to Argentina. Chris Martin has a real connection with Jin and gave him a guitar. For such a big established star to do that shows that Jin is a really special guy. Thank you for reacting to this episode of Suchwita.

It was in 2018 when they almost disbanded and ARMY got to know about it from the speech you saw. They were at the 2018 MAMA and receiving the Artist of the year award. Hobi just started sobbing and then JK Jin and Tae also broke down, especially when Jin spoke.
We can only speculate what really went on at that time but from what the members said it was a combination of what you saw in the episode and pressure from so much fame all at once. They weren't prepared for that and had nobody to ask for advice on how to handle it and also their contract was nearing it's end so they had to renegotiate it.
From what Bang PD spoke about in a recent interview it also seems like they were discussing the military service already in 2018 but we don't know if that had anything to do with them nearly disbanding.

I think Jin underestimates himself and his talents. He’s too self-deprecating. he has actually worked really hard to improve his physical stamina, his singing technique, and his dancing. And he doesn’t seem to pull the “I’m older than you” card very often with the other members, which is thoughtful. I think Yoongi was right when he said Jin has his own special gifts.

The work, suddenly gtting so much attention & sky rocketing around the world
Immense amount of fame that they didnt expect. Amd unnecessary expectations thta people started to put on them
These were few of the reasons why they felt that they couldn't move forward. It ws too much & too fast. Plus they also didnt have anyone to look upto who could help them out as they were the first group to see thatamount of success
Every single day i thank them that they got-together & decided to continue forward. And now they are 4* times more popular than what they were back in 2018
With a clearer head & vision. I hope it continues this way

Jin is 2 years younger to me but the way he influenced my life is something no one did or could. Whatever he says creates impact because he is the embodiment of those words. I wonder how many in 30 can say that I know how to find my happiness. The ones who have Jin in their life are the luckiest.

  • @ZariDV

It was an amazing two-for-one deal. I've missed both J-Hope and Jin a bunch so even though I was excited to see Jin again I was twice as excited to get both of them together. I'm glad that J-Hope visited and let his presence be felt and appreciated but he didn't take over Jin's moment on the show. It was a perfect balance. It was exciting to officially get confirmation that Hobi would get an episode too!
My fave thing about Jin is that he prioritizes finding comfort in himself and maintaining his happiness but it's not at the expense of others. He's a generous person who gives of himself without seemingly asking for very much in return. So others tend to gravitate toward him and want to shower him in appreciation and respect.

In Jin’s first solo song on BTS album “Awake” he wrote it together with RM, and you can hear a lot of his early insecurity and way of thinking. He really really felt like he wasn’t that great at much but he wanted to do his best and try hard anyway. Jin is so admirable the way he keeps moving forward no matter what

I love Jin's philosophy but it's really difficult for me personally to implement it into my own life.
I think the other BTS members also learned a lot from him, especially Jimin. One time he said specifically that Jin taught him how to be happy and enjoy life. Like you said it seems like he had a big influece on the overall group mentality.

From what I understand, they had were getting so famous that they were struggling with all the pressure and high and lows of that fame. They were also more than just a band, they were representing Korea but got little support from the general public. And their work load was relentless. It was contract time and they were just so tired physically and mentally. This is the first time army heard about disbandment too and reacted with a shocked gasp just like u did 💜

  • @oliveoyl1802
    @oliveoyl1802 Před rokem +1

I am OT7, Jin-biased. The reason Jin stands out to me is cos he keeps it real and tells it like it is. He reveals personal anecdotes, group/company 'secrets' seemingly too freely but the way I see it is he out of all the members literally sees ARMY as the 8th BTS member. The trust he has in his members is the same trust he has in ARMY to non-judgementally accept them warts and all. I dont know about anyone else but for me, it gives me a warm feeling knowing that he 'let me in' his inner self/circle. That's prolly why he's got away with having 'loose lips' without suffering any backlash. His disarming honesty is a breath of fresh air in the whole fake industry.
Another plus is his self deprecating humor. Ppl misunderstand his referring to himself as WWH as prideful arrogance when actually it is just a mistake he made as a non English speaker. He meant tp say tt he thought his handsomeness was only by Korean standards but international fans also singled him out so all he was saying was tt he was considered handsome by a common standard and not just Korean. Again he was merely being cheeky and not serious.
Jin may think himself a fool but is actually wise, deep and profound. He is earnest in his relationships with ppl and is genuinely happy when ppl around him are happy. He is well-mannered and respects other's need for time, space and privacy. He 'reads the room' well and is adaptable enough to adjust to the ppl he interacts with.
I could go on and on about his focus, determination, great spirit and attitude but they are just my opinion. Dont take my word for it. Instead, watch the many vids out there that show his positive traits and shining personality in all its glory.

It was the pressure of everything they talked about it. As they were hitting heights suddenly didn't know where they were going it was the mental pressure and the physical toll. They were doing things for the South Korean Government, etc RM even talked about he didn't know who he was and where they were going anymore. I recently had to take the advice that Jin gave Suga about choosing what to remember about the past. I am prone to reliving past mortifications and thinking about what I did wrong and could have done better. This has been good for me in some ways that I learn from past mistakes but I have had at least two people tell me recently that they think I beat myself up too much. So i am working on taking the lesson learned and leaving the bad feelings in the past. And also not feeling bad if I don't remember things from the past, good or bad.
The more i have been listening to them share themselves through their solo work and promotions, the more I understand how the pressure of success can cause confusion and pain to them. I think they were just pursuing their music career and when they were put into the position where they represent so much more than that to a global audience....that is a lot of pressure they werent sure what to do with. It seemed like it resulted in them working even harder to the point where it was unsustainable. On top of that, they were in uncharted territory as to what to do with their career and where to they could go.
one of the reasons I love Suchwita so much is that we are gettung real conversations and not just soundbites for promotion.
I really hope to see IU on Suchwita one of these days soon. They were so cute together on Palette. It ia fascinating to see this side of Suga where he is comfortable around people other than his team members.
i also hope he talks to Youngjin one of these days. Perhaps they can compare notes on their respective shows as well as their rapping.
