    I am very happy that the Asantehene and Voltarian tribal leaders have been too wise to be drawn into this silly quagmire. "Ghanaweb" is a Dutch owned media company whose professional mission is to grate on tribal faultlines in Ghana to cause confusion and disunity. They have always published provocative articles clearly designed to pit one tribe against another with half truths and twisted facts. So what if Okomfo Anokye is Ewe? The answer we really want from "ghanaweb"is why a Dutch media company is so dedicated to foment tribal confusion and hatred among Ghanaians. It is no secret Ashantis always look to welcome allies not push them away so if it turns out Ewes are not just distant cousins but have a prominent place in our Kingdom ,oh what a happy day! That will be a blessing to us NOT the insult Ghanaweb intended. Ghanaweb for years stroked similar provocative sentiments and faultlines between Akyems and Ashantis but in the end our two great leaders embraced publicly and brought our two tribes closer than never before. I am predicting the same will happen with Ashantis and Ewes after enough of our people awake and realize that we are but one people after all. CONFUSION TO THE VILE ENEMY.

    I could believe his story cos I used to say Ashantis and Ewes seem to be rivalries or two opposing tribes, yet they make a perfect marriage if they agree and come together on that note. I guess there might be hidden truth that prominent leaders from those two tribes took from us. I have for years asked myself this question before and luckily enough I have come across this video. If you are an Ashanti you would realize if you want to marry from the Ewe tribe your family will be firm on you and shout on you "Hey". On the other hand if you are and Ewe, right from infancy you are told your sworn enemy is the Ashanti tribe. And if you do extensive research you will also come to find out that Okomfo Anokye was a Guan(Gonja) from Awukugua and some are also telling the stories that he was an albino. Moreso, we know how powerful one becomes when he uses albino for rituals. So it could be true he was an Ewe who moved to settle in Awukugua in the Eastern region and joined hands with the Ashantis to defeat the Denkyiras and later was sacrificed by the Ashantis to make their Kingdom powerful. Sorry readers this is my opinion and may not be true but I am a true Ashanti who doesn't discriminate and open to knowledge. Let's not fight ourselves in the name of tribalism and seek to find the truth because we're all one Ghana. Thanks

      It is a deception for anyone to continue claiming that ewes are light skinned and Akans are likely to be otherwise. Average Ghanaians are dark skinned irrespective of the tribe. Light skinned people , albinos and diminutive are found among all tribes in Ghana. Konfo Anokye is not an Ewe. You can can’t assume he is an ewe who probably moved to awukugua. He was born in Awukugua, his family is still in Awukugua and descendants is still in Asante, so why this unfounded claims.

    With all due respect, the narration by the chief is inaccurate. Factual narration is important to guide us to the future and this assertion is backed by our traditional symbol of SANKOFA. OKOMFO ANOKYE'S story is incomplete without any mention of THE MIGHTY DENKYIRA kingdom which dates back in the 13th century. Anokyi was a famous high priest in the Denkyirahene's court at ABANKESESO, the capital of Denkyira , then situated in present day Manso in the Ashanti region. He was born in a town called AGONA in the 16th century, which pre dates the Anlo settlement in the volta region., some of his descendants can be reliably traced to Victor Owusu, former AG in Busia's gov't. Agona existed before the arrival of FON linguistic group to the Volta region, now known as ANLO and other groups from Benin. This comment is not intended to challenge the name used by the chief, but the high priest of Denkyira and later to Asantihene Osei Tutu does not fit the chief's narrative as an Anlo..

    • @amoahfrank5162
      @amoahfrank5162 Před 2 lety

      @NICHOLAS NUAMAH You are on point.. That is the thing, the many confusing accounts is messing the whole anokye story... If you look at how people are presenting the history, is as if Anokye had no real root with denkyiraman... In fact, Anokye became the substantive priest of denkyiraman (at a younger age) after the demise of his uncle. By the time Anokye becomes well known (to both akwamuhene and subsequently Osei Tutu) many years had gone by. Hence the reason why in his late 40s to Middle 50s he became the apex of asanti priesthood eventually ushering Asante into the realm of empire...

Current Ewes don't like the fact that Asantes dominate in almost everything. If Anokye was an Ewe why then does his people hate the fulfilment of his prophecy and blessing? For me, I don't see how claiming Anokye to be an Ewe does any good to Ewes. Thanks

      @@danieldompreh7512 Yaw Dompreh, can I please know which education you talking about? Going to school and get a job as civil servant or going to school and doing your own business? Entrepreneurship.
      Now let’s analysed:
      Fact 1. With The current state of civil servants in Ghana in numbers, Asantes a less as compared to Non- Asantes.
      Due to the fact that our mothers, Fathers, Uncles and Aunties majority born in and around 80 years and below currently didn’t go to school which was caused as a result of the socio economic stature and customary setting of most Asantes in their township as they were/ are Agrarian people ie: cocoa production and peasant farmers.
      And inspire of all these, the proceeds from their farms which is the Cocoa was used to support the Free education introduced by the then Nkrumah’s administration to carter of the education in the 3 northern regions which as a result educated a lot of northerns in Ghana who are now serving in most civil offices, governments etc.
      Fact 2. The reason why Asantes (most) were not into formal education was as a result of trade (business) due to where they are positioned on the map of Ghana.
