      A couple of points from a local. The Royal Mile is not "the main high street". That is actually Princes Street (which for some reason, apart from Princes Street Gdns, you don't actually mention. Strange, given that it is the main shopping area (along with George Street). The Royal Mile used to be the main street, until the New Town was built 250 years ago. And you mention Bristo Square as being a good open-air place for cafes/bars., etc. but you don't mention George Square, an even larger open-air bars/cafes/food area a mere couple of hundred yards to the south.

    Thank you for your video. We came back from the UK last week and we absolutely loved out time there. I agree with you about taking the tram to Edinburgh. For us was convenient and the best way to see the countryside.

      Haha thank you! Yes, I realise this subject might be a bit niche and not get hundreds of thousands of views but I enjoy passing on any information I find that might be useful to someone. Thank you.

    I live in London and I once took a plane to Edinburgh. In theory it should’ve been quicker but by the time I had travelled to the airport, got through security and then been held up for a two hour delay and then got a tram into Edinburgh it took probably the same amount of time to get a train. So from personal experience if any of you are debating between the train or a plane, I would definitely say the train.

    I booked 10 months in advance for me and friends it worked very well. Also, did the pre booking so people should take this as truth. I think we plunged and gambled too much. Overall we enjoyed the festival so well last year we will be there this year.

    What about the fireworks concert? I lived in Glasgow and we went to the festival every year! And for me, the best free show you get is the end of the festival with a concert and fireworks display from the castle, it just wowed me every time!

    It sounds like a lot of planning, organizing, booking. I'd need a vacation after this vacation. When I'm on a vacay, I like to be spontaneous and go with the flow and see where it'll get me. The only thing I'd book would be the tattoo.

    • @SuitcaseMonkey
      @SuitcaseMonkey  Před 4 lety

      Fair enough. You can be totally spontaneous here, there’s thousands of shows. I’m personally just a planner, I enjoy it and I’ve found others enjoy it too so I like to share whatever I’ve learnt from my experiences. But you definitely don’t need to do any planning. 😊

      I did it two years ago and went without a plan and no expectations. We didn't prebook anything (except the Tattoo), and it was the most fun we've had on a trip. We'll be heading back again this summer. Definitely recommend it!

      Haha, thank you Steven! ☺️ Unfortunately it’s going to be a bit of a wait for Bruges. Because we went at Christmas time I want to release it coming into winter. Before then I’ll do another shorter London video, then quite a few Japan videos as well as a few behind the scenes ones then Bruges. Hopefully it’s worth the wait! 😬

    You forgot to mention the Virgin Money Half Price Hut! Tsk. Shame on you. :-) (I'm a local) Half price tickets available on the day of the show from them. Usually located next to the Royal Scottish Academy on Princes Street. We usually buy most of our show tickets there.
