- Check out the Triton Duo Dowel Jointer. Here I make a simple frame to demonstrate the tool in use.

Got here accidentally and was just amazed how much love you're putting into these videos, Chris! It's TV quality production: so much detail it's beautiful. Cheers!
This is my review after making a major project entirely with dowel joinery. This tool is very good, but it could be 'great' if Triton a) did a better job of the line indicators scribed on the clear perspex viewer which are the ideal way for the user to line up your work - the joinery pieces will NOT line up to the necessary requirements if you use these lines when aligning the tool, you need use the guide centre marker on the metal casting of the machine to get the necessary accuracy required for dowel joinery and b) produced an instructional video on lining up perpendicular corner pieces and shelf pieces or at least have clear diagrams in the operation manual that comes with the tool.
FANTASTIC
I had one of these, I found metal dowel finder pins to be more accurate in the end. The issue is the fence, after a while it just becomes unreliable, and you constantly have to check that it is flat at the top as it gets out of line after a few uses. If the fence is this much of a faff - it just isn't worth it. In the end I just broke down and bought a Domino. The only Festool I own, but a lot better...
Thanks for the demonstration 👍
Cool powertool, I think of buying it after seeing this.
Thanks very much for watching....I hope you found it helpful.
Excellent review, Chris.
I can't seem to locate the video on the modifications you made.
+Steve Collins Hi Steve....Thanks for your kind comments. I haven't actually got the modifications video uploaded yet....I'm working on it now, so it should be up in the next day or two.....stay tuned :-)
Will do.
Thank I was looking for something just like this!
Good review Chris, cheers
I was commenting on a Festool Domino video that a double dowel machine would be equivalent. Noticed you putting a lot of effort into using it and see reviews criticizing it for this and the inaccuracy resulting from having to force it.
Nice review Chris, triton are a brilliant make of tools, expensive but quality throughout and I have noticed that Screwfix has started to stock triton tools. I'm going to try and change some of my main power tools for triton brand.
Well I'm just about to watch you mods video.
Thanks buddy - hope you're well.
Yes they have indeed. I don't think screwfix have the full Triton range (the dowel jointer for instance is not available)....but they do have many of their top items.

Donde se adquiere esta maquina
hello do you still use it and do i recommend it. greetings
A good demonstration, Chris. :-)
Is there a dust extraction port for connecting a vacuum?
Have you done many tests with the 8mm cutters? I wonder whether they'd cut a bit faster than the 12mm I think you used.
I once had a cheap biscuit jointer (Ferm, Screwfix, £25...) where the fence was out of parallel to the blade and, if you pushed down on the fence, it would move, even when locked. I'd expect Triton to have made something superior, however. I wonder how it might compare to a more expensive Mafell duo doweller? Maybe you'll get to find out, one day. ;-)
There is a dust port underneath yes....but I don't bother using it. I find simply spinning it over and giving it a jiggle every now and again clears any build up sufficiently.
I was using 12mm bits here to show it's maximum capabilities....but yes, naturally a smaller diameter bit does cut faster/easier.
The general build quality seems pretty good.....just a couple of minor issues which I'll discuss in another video tomorrow.
Thanks for review.
it looks like hard work pushing that drill into the wood, are your drills blunt. I agree with other comments it's rather expensive for a dowel jig and appears to take longer.
Kevin Smith The spring in the plunge mechanism is quite stiff....I discovered that removing it make the process much easier.
Hola Estimado, me encanto la maquina para entarugar piezas de madera de diferentes espesores, de canto y diagonal, favor indicar valor y donde adquirirla, en Chile no la e visto, indicar dirección, gracias.
So what are my drill bit size options if I want to use standard 1/4 or 3/8 dowels?
I don’t know what it retails for, I one looks at the latest offers from Woodpeckers for their comprehensive doweling jig, I wonder if that is not perhaps a better buy?
Chris, I notice what looks like wood chisels with exposed cutting edges that could be a hazard hi
Hola, Estimado es una maravilla la maquina, favor indicar donde se adquiere y el valor en moneda Nacional Chile, soy del Sur de Chile Valdivia. Saludos.
No dust extraction? It really seems to battle into the end grain. If you compare thus to the FT domino, i have my doubts!
johann mendelsohn
It's not in the same league as the domino John. It does struggle more in the end grain than the face grain yes... But it gets there.
I'm thinking about purchasing this tool. would you recommend it?
Donde se consigue uno de esos tritones
Hola estimados, solicito saber si en Chile hay representantes de los productos Triton envía dirección exacta.
Thanks for the clear demonstration. Do you still use it nowadays ?
No.... I've got a Festool domino.
Just fall over your channel.
You said 8, 10, 12 mm drillbits. Is there a 6mm available, because 6mm dovels are here in the market.
And.... can the machine work with one bit only? Or would then explode the world?
Cheerio from Germany.
Alfred Neumann I'm not sure if there is a 6mm available....I don't believe so. But yes you can remove one bit and drill one single hole in needed.
bonsoir moi j ai 2mm jeux a chaque fois sur les assemblages de chants vous avez pas ca vous.
I want one...
OMG A garden gate - how's that holding up?
Guy Wren it's doing just fine so far. 👍
Thanks for the demo. Quite helpful. One question: the Triton has teeth at the upper edge of the fence in the same way as the Mafell does. On the Mafell, these are used to link into an alignment jig so that the dowels can be spread accurately on wider panels. Is such a jig available for the Triton, do you know?
And if I can be so direct: I watched your second vid first, and can really not understand why you do not mention here that Triton sent this to you to review for free. At one point, you even allude to "purchasing additional accessories..." ("...which I did"). Why? Your review would not have lost any credibility if you'd come out in advance and said "I got it free to review." On the contrary, it would have lent additional credence. Silly.
In the end, if the vids are viewed in the order I watched them they are quite informative. You've just blemished your reputation unnecessarily. Silly.
Great video, but there's no info on the model of the doweler, pricing, accessories and were to purchase it.
Noted. I will take that on board for consideration in future where applicable.
Though Im sure it has a model number.....Triton only make one kind of this tool so identifying it shouldnt be an issue. As for pricing and where you can buy it will vary depending where in the world youre watching this video.
My focus in these videos is to showcase the tool in operation....and for anyone genuinely interested as a result, a quick google search will give you all the answers on pricing and availability relating to whatever part of the world you are based. But im always open for people to pitch comments/questions at me and I will help if I can. Cheers dude.
You are completely right...!!! a quick search and the tool popped up immediately. (which is funny because about 2 years ago I couldn't find it)
Hey I have a quick question: I need different sizes of perforations and I would like to try to buy the Mafell drill bits; do you know if they are compatible? (what the collet size, etc?)
Thank you so much...
Edgar Harris I'm not entirely sure to be honest about the Mafell. But I'm sure I've heard/see somewhere that there are replacement drill bits you can get that are compatible. it may have been Trend that do them if you don't want to buy replacements from Triton.
You where right..!!! (again) I've found drill bits the moment I added Trend to the search. However, could you tell me the diameter shanks in millimeters of your drill bits..?
you are right, I've found some bits for it... Would you mind telling me the collet diameter and length in millimeters? I'll find out what is the diameter and length on the mafell bits, maybe they are compatible.
porque no en esñal
Takes two long
Самый плохой присадочник
faux faux...! machine imprécise de très mauvaise facture...
I'm still much more faster with my regular doweling jig than this.....
Plus you only need two or three dowels for this type of connection.... Go buy a little doweling jig or make one yourself and you'll go away faster than this machine
what kind of doweling jig are you using please? so many out there you know?
not good
Dowelmax is better
bad, very poor filler, the worst of all
