- A fleet of British Army and Royal Air Force helicopters, including the new upgraded Apache model, will be taking on an important role in the next step of Nato's largest exercise since the Cold War.
Nine new Apache AH-64E attack helicopters will be making their first appearance on exercise, along with four Army Wildcats and two RAF Chinooks in Finland and Estonia for Exercises Swift Response and Arrow respectively.
"It really is about trying to scale up, to show what we're capable of projecting and delivering into Eastern Europe as part of what we offer to defence," said 4 Regiment Army Air Corps Battlegroup Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Dave Lambert.

Welcome to Finland our British friends and allies.
Thankyou for being so accommodating 🇬🇧
We've heard you've got some good Rally courses, just coming to have a go on them if thats alright?
Welcome Finland to the family.
@@OhWendy Did you finish? 😅
Your poor boy . You dont understand that like Scotland you are now a sitting target ? I wonder how many nukes are pointing at us both right now
I took part in Operation Lionheart which I believe was the largest Nato exercise during the Cold War, it was.... an interesting experience, I'm sure those that go on this one will remember it for a lifetime. My life kind of took me another way and indeed I left the UK for quite some time but I often used what I experienced during it while managing people.
Tervetuloa! Finland welcomes you!

Formidable machines. What a great unit.
Explains the whole flight of them waking me up today haha
From the UK. The Brits turn up, demonstrating support and cohesion……but I bet the Brits learn a lot whilst being embedded with the Swedes, Finnish and the other Eastern European Sovereign nations…..
Apologies but have read some negative comments about this deployment. While we are a small island nation we are really well connected across the globe. Our military training in another European, Sovereign Nation is a sign of commitment and solidarity. Do I agree, personally with all the politics, not necessarily. Am I willing to watch another country bullied/invaded….definitely not. Apologies but rant over.
@robstafford8306 The problem is your fellow countrymen and media, not you. Your countrymen go out of their way to degrade, belittle, and diminish their allies and their achievements, quality, etc. This, in turn, breeds hate in response. Any negative comments you're seeing here is a direct result of that pig-headed attitude.
They learn even more from the Russians, but none of them are alive to tell the story

I just wish we didn't cut the numbers, or really, wish we'd increased them. I know things may be changing but six years is a long time to add some spend for more depth of force.

Yes the UK forces needs more but it has to be paid for and NO one wants to pay more taxes and the UK lost nearly a billion in taxes a year thanks to that dirty pedo in Dunblane sadly.
didn't this already happen? nato had a huge exercise earlier this year or last year

What people do not understand is, that not artillery alone wins a war. Air superiority is key. And heck does NATO shine on that front.
Most people understand this
Shine against who? Unsophisticated Middle Easterners for the last 20-30 years?
@@smithers4420 Well if you listen to some commentators over the last couple of months, it seems they believe we would lose because we have less artillery. Wich is nonsense. The truth is, we (NATO) can make every opponents land look like a parking lot.

Time to increase the military big time. All people male and female under the age of 50 should have to start a two year full time military service followed by transfer to the reserves until age sixty . Those who entered the UK as so called refugees should be required to serve not less then fifteen years full time and they should not be made officers nor allowed to serve in any job that would give them access to the most secret and important military information .

At least 90, 000 troops involved in total in Steadfast Defender , that being the overall exercise , and that 90,,000 approximately represents that immediately available of Nato's 300 000 strong Response Force , this all was spearheaded a month of so back by deployment of UK 7th Armored Bde the Desert Rats, among others , the Poles involved ,and at sea UK Carrier Strike Group centered on HMS Prince of Wales with Nato escorts ,under Nato command , that deployed supercarrier by itself more than russia has operable , Kutznesov not back til later this year or next yr or maybe never.
And at same time then ,last month Norway Finland and Sweden , the latter 2 having joined Nato now , had almost 20 000 troops in an Arctic exercise in Lappland ,that being a couple or few hundred miles from Murmansk . and now at this point in Steadfast Defender , Poland and Lithuania with about 20, 000 troops exercising, training to defend the Suwalki Gap in NE Poland ,&the Brits in with this at same time
@@mnufeld8448 What will 300,000 soldiers do against a power like Russia? Russia couldn't beat Ukraine with 300,000 troops initially so what good would 300,000 NATO soldiers do if push comes to shove? It will all end in nuclear war probably.
