I wonder if the duck task was originally planned to be "find all the ducks; fastest wins" but then Alex and company had flashbacks to Guz and Desiree and "There's been another revelation" for over an hour and decided to have mercy on the contestants and crew. That said, i'd love to see hour 8 of Ardal bumbling around merrily, with four ducks found.
I've watched that entire season and have no idea where the revelation part is- please enlighten me 😭
@@idkman1539 there was a team task where they had to solve a riddle but the team members were in different rooms and had to find clues. It was glorious 😂

Honestly, the first duck tasks is one of the best tasks I’ve seen. Really highlights the thinking out of the box mindset that taskmaster encourages

After watching three series of social distancing, it genuinely warms my heart that the first thing Greg does is invade Alex’s personal space
I've really missed Greg just slightly touching Alex whenever he feels like it. and I'm saying this in 2024, where the pandemic has been "long forgotten". you just get so used to them sitting so far apart during series 10 through 12.
This ep is such whiplash from series 12. Going from everyone supporting each other to everyone immediately undermining the others lmao
And yet, when they weren't trying to cut each other they also laughed a lot with each other.
Ahhh yes we get a solid preview of this seasons trends:
- Ardle being terrible at tasks but very agressive
- Bridget VS Alex being a WHOLE thing
- Chris Ramsey CLEARLY is the biggest Taskmaster fan here ('Take your shirt off Alex!' right away is such a Taskmaster move)
- Judie being the uncontested Queen of Bullshitting terrible entries
- Sophie being the clever straightman (straightwoman?)
Surprisingly only 3 out of 5 of these trends would continue on
my first impression is that Ardal is the most normal person they've had on the show and probably won't deserve the torture he's about to endure.

Ardal is outwardly low-key, but truly game for any level of absurdity. His stand-up is very stream-of-consciousness at times.

Can't stand her. The worst contestant on the show, and the least funny by a far margin. The duel task is a perfect showcase: instead of creating an "exhilarating duel" she made up stupid rules to make it extremely boring just to make sure she wouldn't lose. I've seen her in other shows (particularly in 8oo10c does Countdown) and she's always a sore loser.

Coming from last season where everyone was so supportive and defended each other to Greg into the very first episode of this season where they try to convince Greg everybody else is doing the tasks badly like squabbling children is so funny
At least once an episode, Sophie Duker does something that would be incredibly sexy but is also equally bizarre

It’s funny to me how Bridget came into the dueling task (& every task) dressed for a Wild West shootout, & then proceeded to do something completely different & unexpected.

To be fair to Ardal there were duels with tons of objects. It wasn't always the aim to hurt the person in a duel it was more about the "humiliation" of losing. Sure the duels we all think of are pistols or swords, but those are just talked about because of the lethality of them. I think the fact that he went traditional with the glove slap, issuing the challenge before it actually commenced and also giving Alex the option of "weapons" makes it a wonderful duel.
Yes, it was a duel, yes it was most authentic and traditional. But was it exhilarating?
FINALLY. One of my favorite series. All five contestants are a delight to watch in their own way. I hope Judi Love can come back for a redemption series.

Sophie's third verse went kinda hard ngl - two polysyllabic rhymes, "dieuretic/pathetic" and "bender/surrender." dieuretic is one of those words that gets used a lot more in rap music than anywhere else, because of how convenient a rhyme it is 😅
This crew was great, all of them. Sophie apologizing during a rap battle was a highlight for me, but every single one of them made me laugh.

The hardest I’ve ever laughed at this show was the still image of Judy under the black light! That was so unbelievably funny, it gets me every time I see it! 🤣
Sophie doing a whole routine at 43:40 and everyone looking increasingly baffled and worried, followed by her immediately losing and Chris almost pissing himself laughing is absolutely brilliant.

I knew I liked Sophie. That was a brilliant rap battle. Alex has redeemed himself for the song with Guz in series 12.

Rewatch party time! It's probably my favourite series and the fact that it's 13th makes me happy. Taskmaster just doesn't get worse as time goes by and thank fuck for that. Having this relibale source of good mood has been truly great

I have no idea how to describe Bridget Christie's fashion choice during the tasks, but I do know that it's really doing it for me.
I saw an isolated clip of Ardal saying “it’s just the noise that blue makes” long before I watched the episode and even then I didn’t even question why his face was covered in lipstick or the odd words he was saying because I knew what Taskmaster does to people
That find the ducks taste is absolutely great. Definitely one of the best ones of the entire show. I do wonder how I would do on it like every other task. I feel like it would be one of the tasks I would be genuinely amazing, that or be too scatterbrained that I barely find any

Every single start to a new series I think this group of people will never live up to the last but I’m always won over.
It's so fun going back and watching Alex's first interactions with Bridget at the start of this series and just knowing what's to come.....How she's just going to slowly erode away any patience he has for her later on 😂

Usually with this show I have to warm up to the contestants and by the end of the series I love every one of them in a different way but this series I love them all straight away!

This is literally my favourite show in the world. I may make becoming a comedian my sole goal in life simply to appear on this show.
I too had the immediate impulse to strip search Alex and tear the lab apart looking for ducks. 😂 Watching that task was the instant I knew Chris was going to be one of my all-time fave contestants!

I've been as excited as I was when Alex said "other rules will be added" in the prize task very few times in my life. It got as ridiculous as I expected it to, if not quite as mathematical (they didn't use primes, squares, factors of 12, etc)
I just realized rewatching Season 7 that the box under the table for the Duck challenge is the same design as Phil Wangs "mysterious box" he brought in on Season 7 Episode 4. What a neat little call back
The Banter this episode from this cast has me coughing and weezing from laughing so hard Consistently.
Anyone from the era of cassette tapes KNOWS that the best device for winding the tape on was an HB pencil, not your finger. They are not only the perfect size, bits also hexagonal, allowing the edges to grab the spool's teeth
