It’s been years since I read Wimpy Kid but I think that tag line is a reference to how Greg emphasizes a few times in the book that it isn’t a diary, it’s a journal. So I actually like it a lot.
The thumbnail one is actually pretty good, as it’s not just a reference to how it is a movie, but one of the very first things Greg does in the first book is that he says it’s not a diary, but a journal, and the tagline references that first introduction to the series

2:06 who in their right mind thinks THIS is a bad tagline. this is literally one of the hardest lines in the entirety of universe's history. you're ogre-reacting if you think this is a bad tagline
No, it's not obviously true. It's wrong. They won't die when they're already dead. They'll die before being dead. And pretty sure it's a reference to the phrase "They'll *sleep* when they're dead." They were just purposefully getting that phrase wrong for comedic effect.
Most people die immediately before they are dead, that's the normal sequence, to be dead you need to die first. That tagline implies they're going to do those steps out of order, they'll spend a bit of time being dead, and then they'll die. And I guess they'll be dead some more after that. I haven't seen the movie so I don't know if that accurately describes it
The original cut of that movie is one of the strangest experiences I've had with a movie in terms of tone. I'm still not sure why Argento felt those scenes with the car slapstick and people not understanding each other on the phone needed to be in the movie.

The tagline for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers: Adam abducted Milly, Benjamin brought Dorcas, Caleb caught Ruth, Daniel Detained Martha, Ephraim eloped with Liza, Frank fetched Sarah, and Gideon grabbed Alice.
My personal favourite is “The director of "Grease," Randal Kleiser, brings to the screen a sensual story of natural love. Two children, shipwrecked alone on a tropical island. Nature is kind. They thrive on the bounty of jungle and lagoon. The boy grows tall. The girl beautiful. When their love happens, it is as natural as the sea, and as powerful, THE BLUE LAGOON”.
