    Came across this video when my left earbud stopped charging and working all together. Turns out the magnet in the case for the left earbud just fell out of place. Extremely easy to fix after watching this video and just wanted to send a thank you for saving me from buying a new pair of earbuds.

    My Jabra 65t's plastic snap did break off like he said so I had to put a rubber band to keep it from opening. My son has a noncharging 65t case which thankfully he has not thrown out yet and is no longer using so he gave it to me. I just swapped the internal components from my case to his by following this tear down and now I have a working, closing case.
    Thanks, man!

    Yeah I also wouldnt mind you tearing the earpieces down :D
    My right earbud is at like 25% volume for some reason. Poking a hole helped a bit I dunno why but I think a lot of dust has collected inside and the only way to clean them out would be to break them. :(

      Earwax? Small Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol cuts through most of that gunk quickly. In the earbud; don't ever put a Q-TIP in your ear.

      Just want to say thank you and let you know that this is the first ever comment that I received on CZcams and it's a compliment!

      My biggest problem with these is the fact that they are not even kind of loud, at least IMO! And I'm not just referring to bass I'm referring to EVERYTHING! I'm pretty disappointed

    • @mrteardown6478
      @mrteardown6478  Před 2 lety

      Hey Derek. I recently got a cheap (or good value?) Chinese "airpods" and it's like 2x louder than the Jabra. And I'll probably do a video covering that at some point.
      But as Austin Tran Duy Anh has already pointed out, poking/cleaning the vent hole on the earbud might fix the volume issue. I haven't tried it myself but will definitely look into when I'm more free.

      @@mrteardown6478 knock off air pods that aren't complete junk, I'm all ears?!? One other bad thing about jabra elite 65 is that they don't fit my ear no matter what size ear piece. Something else people might want to consider before purchasing.

    My right bud doesn't work and there is no light, so it doesn't charge either. I tried this to see if maybe there was something inside preventing it from charging but nothing :(

    • @mrteardown6478
      @mrteardown6478  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Betsy. You mentioned your right bud isn't working so I assume the left is and the charging case probably is working too (because you can charge the left bud?). If you have a multimeter, you can check if the pogopins for the right earbuds are providing ~4V across them.
      Just a long shot. Maybe find an external power source to charge the earbud directly and see if it will bring it back to life. A variable power supply is the best choice. The gold contact closer to the speaker hole is the ground and the other one is ~4V. You should see a small current (~0.3A) flowing into the earbud.
      If you do have the equipment but are unsure of what to do, please let me know. After all we are dealing with li-ion batteries which should be handled carefully.

    Hi, when I charge the headphones they only last me 45 minutes. I have cleaned the pins and they still won't charge for more than that time. I bought a new case thinking that was the problem but they still lasted the same. D.o you know what the problem is?. Thanks

      How old are your earphones? Probably the batteries INSIDE the earphones are worn off. You can replace them with ordering new batteries from i.e. Aliexpress. But reassembling the earphones could be tricky when it comes to glueing back. Of course it is not gonna be perfectly factory sealed ever more. But with a strong glue i.e. loctite it could be still great. Worth a shot.

    Hi Mr tear down. My right earbud suddenly stopped producing sound. I tried the hack on Reddit to poke the small hole on it but it does not work. I need the teardown for the earbuds to see what that hole does. If you could help me I'd really appreciate it.

      @mrteardown6478  Před 2 lety +3

      Hey Austin. Thanks for your message but I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you.
      Your problem definitely got me interested in taking it apart but I am currently busy on other things. I took a look at the reddit solution too but I don't understand how poking the vent hole would fix it. And your earbuds "suddenly" stopped working so that seems to be different to what other people described.
      I assume it's still charging, powering on and connecting properly? I'll reply to this comment again when I can find time to do a quick teardown but sorry for now.

      @@mrteardown6478 yes the buttons still work. Just that it does not produce any sound. I had this once before when I went swimming with it. But it was fine after one day leaving it dry. Now it does not seem to work anymore. Sometimes when I wiggle it and press down the mic, it works. But when I release, it doesnt. Appreciate the reply. I might have to get a different pair. Perhaps not Jabra anymore :(

      This guy's earbud worked after a while. Maybe the water has caused some contacts to rust. Maybe try the rice trick to absorb the moisture? Good luck!

    Hey, do you think it's possible to convert the latch mechanism to a magnetic type by placing a few neodymium magnets inside the top and bottom halves?
    I'm asking because my hinge broke along the flexible plastic portion and I'm considering the above to fix it. For now I'm using a piece of rubber band to hold the top and bottom pieces together for charging the buds.

    • @peter-and-morag1892
      @peter-and-morag1892 Před rokem

      I had the same problem. I use black duct tape, cut to the same width as the hinge, up the back of the case and over the top to about 10mm from the front edge of the lid. It's worked faultlessly for the last 6 months.

    • @adityasethi0033
      @adityasethi0033 Před rokem

      @@peter-and-morag1892 Thanks for sharing. Using duct tape is a great idea.
      Now I'm considering combining both the duct tape idea as well as the magnets idea, just so I can get rid of the plastic locking tab and not fear losing the top part of the case.
      Imo, it's a bad design from Jabra.
      If they can use magnets for all the sensors, it would've been a nice addition to have a magnetic lid as well.
