Lyrical English Translation:
WIZARD'S CHILDHOOD
Raistlin:
A village was home to a small family
The mother and twins were content as could be
One brother was clever the other was strong
Their life starting out was a typical one
But then tragically, their father died
That’s when everything took a sharp turn
So that we could have a better life,
Mother swore herself to the Darkness.
After one mistake using magic -
Mother’s life was suddenly forfeit
I could tell the Dark Lady planned it -
Preying on the souls of the desperate!
That day I made a promise I couldn’t keep
I swore that I would never speak
A single word of sorcery
A little boy vowed on his mother’s memory
How could it be that I was so naïve?
Traps are not there to be left unused
And the hunt would only continue
Cruelty sparked within my former friends
All their twisted games forced me beyond the edge
And that’s how I discovered my talent:
By amusing bullies with magic.
There and then I felt my calling captivate my soul!
The one who’s drawn unto that mighty call
Can neither be dissuaded nor denied
The young apprentice dedicates his all
To mastering his studies day and night
To finding secrets Nature hasn’t told
To weaving with the Gods the threads of life
The passion for magic is a madness
Impossible to fight
I was not inclined to join a side.
I aspired only for knowledge.
It’s as if I were a scientist
and my skill - a gem to be polished.
But Takhisis, planting suspicion,
Turned the fearful conclave against me.
So, they forced the Test on the novice,
Betting on the chance it would kill me.
But I survived and swore one day
I’d fight Her face to face.
So began this game of deadly risk
Played between two equal contenders
Where a strike is softer than a kiss
Where the foes are closer than lovers
But is she the hunted or huntress?
Am I to be victim or victor?
We both dream of meeting the other:
She means to take the world
And I to make her pay!
Crysania:
If it’s true what you’re saying
Then please tell me why
You fought in the past war
On the Dark Lady’s side?
Raistlin:
On the Dark Lady’s side...
Crysania:
All the fears of the Conclave would seem quite justified!
Raistlin:

Yes, I’ll say it, she tamed me - the coveted prey of her trap
Yes, I ate from her hands and dressed myself all in black
But, regardless, I chose in the end to betray my Queen
Turning magic against her, I struck and set myself free
Now I’m branded a traitor in everyone’s eyes
Good and evil alike would applaud my demise
A despicable turncoat I’ll be seen for all time
By the world’s unfair judgment, that’s how I’ve been defined

Ever since, I’ve had these haunting dreams
From the grave I hear mother calling
And I know exactly what it means:
Magic will either be what dooms or saves me…
I like the song and all but it implies that his parents died when he was a little kid. But he and Caramon were 16 when they died, and he had already been studying magic for a few years at that point.
@@KrynnSub I know it diverges from the books a bit in places, and that's fine. It just crossed my mind when I was rewatching some of these songs from the musical.
in this case, is the character lying to impress Crysania? 😄

О детстве в мюзикле преврали, но в остальном более менее соотвествует канону.
Вообще мюзикл во многом эм...отцензурен что ли? То бишь неугодные моменты исправили :)
И да в субтитрах имеются ошибки в словах,...но это ничего, главное же слушать, а не читать... :)
Как бы сказать, сама история, это часть игры одной из веток ДНД, и там можно историю крутить как хочешь, книга Уэйс Маргарет и Хикмен Трейси это одна из интерпретаций, истории в целом. Когда люди делали мюзикл, они сами связались с ними, на что те посмеялись, И сказали, что не у них права на историю. Не много тру стори.

@@user-ri1io7yb4c мюзикл все таки делался по книгам, просто что то вырезали, чтоб не мельтешило на фоне отношений Рейстлина и Крисании.

@@user-ri1io7yb4c создатели мюзикла говорили что они делали именно на основе трилогии легенд, но брав за основу любовную линию и подгонять все именно в эту историю, отсека лишнего
