I've noticed a ton of banks and financial firms are already opening (and some closing) apps for Summer 2025 internships. Those are my target areas, and I'm worried I'll miss out if I wait till I arrive. I'm tempted to start applying now, but I'm kinda stuck on some application questions: Work authorization in the US? (I will be by Summer 2025, but not yet) Which uni to list? (My upcoming US one or my previous Indian one?) What address or phone number to use? (Don't have a US one yet) Should I go ahead and apply now or wait till I'm in the US? Any tips on how to handle this? Thanks!
1. You should absolutely start applying right now. 2. Yes you should have work auth DURING the internship which you will have. 3. The US university because you will be enrolled with the US uni during the internship. 4. You can use your edu email (if that is not setup yet, then just use your personal email for now) for your phone number - you can put Indian number now (but make sure to change that as soon as you get a US number) - a lot of applications might not actually ask for phone number because email is the primary form of communication.

I think they help less in pool hirings (internships and new grad) as compared to normal lateral hirings because the #applications are extremely large (think 30,000+) - but there's definitely some value to it (even if it's not substantial)

I think luck plays a huge role in things. I've been lucky in a lot of cases, so things have been smooth for me.
