Sublimation crafting is trending, and - more importantly - SUPER FUN! If you've already got a sublimation machine (aka sublimation printer,) you know exactly what I mean. It's a real game-changer for crafting!
The biggest hurdle to sublimation is getting the right sublimation printer. So I took four sublimation printers (Sawgrass, Epson F170, EcoTank, and WorkForce) and compared them on price, availability, quality, speed, everything ... all so you can see how they line up and then pick the one that is right for you and your needs! Find out which sublimation printer I thought was the winner in this video.

I appreciate the time and effort you put into this video. I watch a lot of maker videos on a variety of topics and this was the first time I saw one of yours. Very well produced with a perfect amount of details. Never got into the weeds, never got boring or slow,, and watched the entire video without skipping ahead. Subscribed.
I loved this video, and all the comments. Thank you Jennifer for all of your time and effort into your wonderful and informative videos. And thank you everyone in the comments for your feedback, so much info and so helpful.
So happy you're here crafting with us!
Thank you for being such a phenomenal teacher! I was so confused about a few sublimation process details and you fully educated me. Thank you so much for your dedication and style... I adore your style! From the beginning to the end you just KNOW what (and most importantly how) to present all the crafty methods and tools in the most fun and effective way. You darlin' are the cream of the crop. Sooo much gratitude. 💞
That's so sweet! Thanks so much!
I love my eco tank. I emptied the ink bottles that came with it, washed them out, air dried. I put my sublimation ink in the auto fill bottles. I have not had any issues with my ink drying. I’ve had 6 month gaps between printing. My sublimation prints are very detailed, and everyone comes out great. My biggest suggestion is to turn off the bleed in cricut design space when you print.
Which Ecotank do you have?
@@johannevinet5083 ET-2720
@@michellebinder5131 very tempted to buy even if does not use large format paper. Lol
I love my eco tank as well! Mine has been sitting for an actual year as I was so overwhelmed on what I wanted to do lol, I just did a test print in may/June and the ink was still extremely vibrant, has not dried out as well and no smudges or odd markings. I’m using the Hiipoo ink just love this ink
That's great to hear that! 😃
Jennifer! Thank you as well for going through this process and touching on points that we possibly wouldn’t have thought of to look for in a sublimation printer. I’m new and want to start doing sublimation, for a bit discouraged when I saw the prices of the printers, then felt ok when you shared that an eco tank could be converted into a sublimation printer. Though, with sharing that to not have the print heads dry up, we need to pretty much always be printing, I’ve concluded the sawgrass is good. Thanks again 🤗
I've finally come to the time where I can start sublimation! Oh, Jennifer...YOU know how much I've been waiting to begin this..Thank you! I trust your judgements, all your projects are gorgeous!
Thank you! You can do it!
I LOVE THIS LADY !!!! Almost every time I have a question about something she has already made a video about it.
THANK YOU JENNIFER !!!!

Hi there, we are a factory providing DTF products. Do you need a DTF oven?
I have been researching sublimation printers and this video was the most helpful one yet. The side by side comparisions make it so much easier to decide. l love the way you explained everything! Thank you

I have the Eco tank that I converted and don't use it very often. Now I'm having issues. Wish I saw this sooner. Saving for a Sawgrass. Thank you Jennifer for the great info!

This video was super helpful, thank you. I was already leaning towards the sawgrass… your video confirmed my decision for me!

PHENOMENAL video once again, Jennifer!!
An excellent presentation showcasing the outstanding qualities and features of our sublimation printers, as well as providing an overview of the results from tests conducted. Love it. 😘
Many thanks!
Thank you Jennifer for making this video. I'm just starting with sublimation and have cricut mugpress, but seeing all the fun stuff one can print and press on anything polyestery had me wanting a sublimation printer.
I'm getting the sawgrass after watching this video it has everything I need and want (except the price)
Wonderful! That is my favorite for the easy operation of it and self maintenance.
I love your shoes! Thank you for this comparison. I’m getting a printer but was overwhelmed with the choices
Thank you!
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for all your wonderful videos.
Thank you! What a great informative video. I am brand new to sublimation and you are very informative and easy to understand and follow. So looking forward to watching more of your videos and learning from them.
Glad it was helpful! 🥳
Thank you so much for such a brilliant video! I’ve been thinking of buying a sublimation printer for a while but was unsure which way to go. In the UK the Sawgrass inks really aren’t they expensive so all in all I agreed with all your points raised and just ordered the SG500 with paper and full sized inks for £400!!! I thought that was a great price. You’ve helped me so much, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow!! Jennifer this was fantastic and so thorough! What an amazing product review and the amout of work you detailed in each catagory in how each printer rated in such category. You have saved me like a couple of nights of pulling my hair out and screaming at my final contestents for purchasing a sub printer!

This was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much. My sister has a sawgrass, but I wanted the Epson for the cheaper Hippo ink but you made up my mind. I had no idea about the maintenance and that's a huge dealbreaker for me. There's no way I'll print that often.
That is an important factor. ❤️
Awesome video, Jennifer! I’m the person that spends days/weeks researching before making a purchase -- to the point of exhaustion - always weighing pros and cons. You’ve certainly covered all the bases.Thank you!

Thank you Jennifer Maker! I wish I had waited until you did this before I bought mine! I have the ecotank and it’s no longer working well because I don’t use it very often - lines in the colors - I’ve tried all the maintenance tricks over and over and still having issues. This was soooo helpful!

Over a year ago after much research I got the Epson F170. It was easy to find. I went to Epson's website, put in where I lived and they gave me the info on a local dealer. When I need ink, I call him and pick it up. The ink that comes with it, isn't starter ink, like others, its the full size large bottle. I've just started on my 2nd bottle of black and all of the other colors are still going strong. I also loved that I didn't have to give up my warranty. It was supper easy to set up as well. By downloading the recommended drivers and software it printed out great from the beginning. I didn't even know about ICM then. And this also allows me to print from PDF, Word, etc. I don't have to have other software unless I want to do a lot of editing. Most I do in Word. I go for months without printing anything. Not one time have I had any problems. It has never clogged or printed out wrong. So I don't know why it was said you have to print every week or so, not so. I've also printed designs up to 47 in long as well. If I decide to get a larger printer in the future, it will be the Epson 540. I'm an HP lover and just bought a new one for regular print but Epson does good for sublimation. And I'm not spending more than the cost of printer in ink each year. Thanks for the video, its good to see the comparison. I think a little more research on the F170 would help though. Just my opinion.
Thanks so much for the suggestion! 😊
There's only 1 place in my State that sells it and without going in eBay I can't get thr specialty shops online to ship it. For me, it's going to be a 250-mile drive to get the machine and potentially any ink refills.
The other information was super helpful, though!
@@OGimouse1 If you are talking about the Epson F series, Conte sells them on line and has a better warranty than Epson. If I ever go up in size, I'm ordering through them.
Excellent review. Thank you. I'm going with the Sawgrass.
Good choice! 😃❤️
Best review Lady Jennifer. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I appreciate this video because I impulsively bought a Sawgrass because I found one locally, but I already have a Epson EcoTank. I have the Sawgrass in the box and I’ve been researching to find out if I should keep it. I’ve already had the nightmare of the EcoTank leaking and needing the heads cleaned because I don’t use it often, however the more informative videos about the hazards of converting printers have been made since I purchased the EcoTank. Your perspective made me sure that I made the right call.
Awesome! You will love the Sawgrass.
This was so helpful I’m going with the sawgrass as my first printer thank you
Wonderful! Good choice!
Over the course of 10 years, I have converted several different Epson printers for sublimation. I ultimately bought the Sure Color F170 because it was made for sublimation. Just a heads-up about the 2000 series eco-tanks; when your printer starts to print dark lines and streaks and you keep running print head cleanings (which use a lot of ink), eventually the non-replaceable maintenance tank will be full and render the printer useless. There are workarounds for this, that sometimes work and sometimes don't. I just wish Epson would come out with a mid-range wide format sublimation printer. They jumped from the F170 to being $400 to the F570 being over $2000.
Wow! Thanks for the information.
Having this issue right now. Would you recommend the Sawgrass?
@@infinitykboutique5098 If you have the $$ to spend for a Sawgrass. They seem to be great printers, but keep in mind the expense for maintenance (Cost for ink, etc).
This helps a lot! Thank you!!!
@@Robinator67 very true on Sawgrass 200.00 just for ink but it does print beautifully for t-shirts and many other projects.
I have the Epson Eco Tank and I absolutely love it. I've been using Epson printers since the 1980's, long before they had color printers. They always deliver. It's so easy to refill the ink tanks and so inexpensive! It can go for weeks with out printing and I've never had a problem with ink drying. In the past, I've always used printers that take the little cartridges which seem to run out pretty fast. I've only refilled my Epson once and I've had it for around 2 years now. I've had other brands of printers over the years but nothing beats the Epson for me. Interesting video - makes me want to look into doing some sublimation stuff! I love yard flags.
Wow! So glad to hear that!
Hi what a pretty picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say Hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊
Ml white the eco tank can you not use it for reg printer like printing documents and using it for sublimation
@@bulldogmamabulldogmama5555 Yes, you can use it for regular printing and it doesn't look any different.

As always, the best video on sublimation printers and comparison. I have a epson 2760 and my colors seemed dark but nothing to compare. I printed off your sunflower from my Epson 4760 and printed one from my sublimation printer. My sublimation was too dark as it normally is so I used your flower and started adjusting the colors and WOW, I finally got a good color. Now I am excited to do more sublimation. Thank you so so much. You ARE the BEST!!!🤩

Awsome information i plan to get one soon and want the best i formation before making a decision
Thank you for your excellent review. My husband bought me the Epson eco tank for Christmas last year. I used the Cosmos sublimation ink I was able to do a few projects and then two months ago I went to make a shirt for my granddaughter and it had lines through it. I tried cleaning the heads as per the Epson inst., but after a few times of trying this it still didn't clear up the problem so then I tried using a head cleaner that was recommended, well it made a mess, and then my printer kept giving me an error code and wouldn't work. Costco said they would take it back and refund it, but I felt that since I had converted it, it wouldn't be honest to return it. I was bummed this morning about the whole thing, my wonderful husband gave me an early Christmas gift, the SG500 Sawgrass! He had it wrapped in the guest room closet, and he decided to give it to me early because he saw that I was so bummed about it. Again Thank you so much! Have a very Wonderful Christmas!!
How nice! Merry Christmas!

Continuous ink systems work great have used them for years. Sublimation or not. They make ink refills simple.
Yes! 😃
I went with a converted Eco tank printer for the low costs for the printer and ink. I'm junking it and buying a Sawgrass. I got great results - at first, but multiple issues came up - some due to maintenance, and some due to the fact it was a low-end printer.
I came to the realization that ruined blanks are way more costly in time and money than expensive ink.
As an aside, here we are a year-ish after you posted this video, and the Epson F170 is STILL hard to find.
I love your videos - they are always well thought out, logically presented, and informative. Thank you for what you do!
Excellent presentation! I had an eco-tank but we're not always at home so I was unable to use it, same as you, daily or even weekly. I had my printer (bought from a friend) and only did about a dozen projects before it plugged up and wouldn't print without streaking, even after going through all the print head cleaning steps. Picking up my Sawgrass in a couple of weeks. 🙂
I hate to hear you had issues with your Ecotank but I hope you love your new Sawgrass!!🥰

Maintenance is the key!
Yes! 😃
Hi Jennifer! I always enjoy catching your videos - so detailed, yet to the point & helpful.
By any chance, can you or have you dont an update for 2024?
Great Video. One thing about Sawgrass printers you should be aware of is that they burn through ink like crazy. My SG400 would go through about 4 minutes of cleaning cycles on every power up. I would watch the ink level indicators drop as it is only 24 ml of ink. They are pretty reliable but mine has seen the quality go down after 2 years of light use. Looking for some other solution for making mugs.
What a great video, thanks.
I'm glad you liked it!
So are Kate you and your review!
I have learned so much from your videos! Thanks for being so thorough! You’re a great teacher! 👍🏻
Based various Ecotank Printers, is the Resolution listing being 5760x1440 the best? I think I’m gathering that the print resolution is the most important factor for a beginner… I don’t care about scan resolution being 1200x2400… 10.0/5.0 iso ppm means it’s slow? So if I don’t care about that either, and I have Adobe Photoshop, would this be a good fit for a limited budget? (This was substituted for the Ecotank ET-2720 that I actually ordered from Amazon. Don’t know if I should keep it…
I value your input!
