FINALLY!!!!! Hubby and I watched your video on how to get the a/c in our travel trailer up to speed and man!!!! Best modification ever!! It took us about 4 hours and we taped up everything inside the box that the factory should have done. We didn’t have a measurement for the improvement but we took a quick 2 night trip at a local campground for a trial run. We were totally shocked at the difference. Our 30 ft camper has one a/c and it’s always been a struggle to camp in the summer in SC and surrounding areas. Well, that’s old news now. We had to keep raising the thermostat from our previous settings. Actually got a little chilly :) So excited about this project and so happy for your helpful advice. @@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS so what if you have a double side vent. So you’re saying you won’t need those anymore since the RV has the roof vents? I think I have 6 in my living and kitchen and then 1 upstairs and 2 in the bedroom. Bedroom stays very hot. Also I have 2 units. I just want to make sure if I do close them up it would be able to still push enough air out with them being closed.
Great video and even better modification. It’s easy enough that anyone can do it. When I opened my unit up, there were so many air leaks due to a poor installation at the factory. After I got mine done, it’s noticeably cooler and quieter. I live in Texas and normally don’t do anything here during the summer. With this mod, tinting the windows and adding reflectix over the windows, I was able to cool my RV from 92 (inside), 104 (outside) to 75 in about 90 minutes. Best part, was the whole RV was cool.
I’m in Florida. If it’s 104* outside, it will be 120* inside. 30’ Jayco with one A/C can get it down to 80* in about 30 minutes. Anymore, I leave the thermostat at 78* and all is well. If I try to cool it down to 72*, it struggles significantly
I did this upgrade today but in addition I removed all 5 registers. These were all retapped. The two near the ends I built a dam to stop air passing register into dead space. In addition I cut some of the registers 1 1/2” mount height making it easier for cooler air to flow into them. A full days work for a retired guy but the flow is much much stronger and I believe will be way more efficient! Thx for the tip to get me started!
I did this and WOW, what a difference! Air is now evenly flowing throughout the entire RV instead of just in the rear where the unit is. And YES, its MUCH quieter! Don't have to raise volume on TV when A/C kicks in anymore. Took 2 hours after supplies in hand.

This inspired me to seal up my entire box. Have not build the baffle system yet. But using the metal tape decreased the overall noise of the AC unit dramatically and now all my ducting is working great. Actually my ac shut off and kept the trailer cool at 78 with 106 degrees outside. It was amazing. Thanks for the great video

Just finished and WOW. I've only had my TT for a week, but I wish I had done this day one. Slightly quieter, but much much more cold air from all vents. Just makes complete sense once you take it apart. Thank you for your instruction, sir!
Such a great detailed walkthrough of the upgrade. I upgraded the two air conditioners in my RV. What a difference between the output and also how much quieter it is. Thanks for putting it together!

Hi friends. I saw you shared your link in RV Content Creators and wanted to get over and check out your video. Thank you for sharing it! This is really neat. We have talked about how some parts of our RV have better air flow than others. Adding the 45 degree cuts was a smart way to get a flush fit. The tape seems to be very forgiving once you get the parts mounted in there. Thanks for your great tips in this one. Great job!
This has to be the best ac modification video I have seen!! I will be doing this!! I am also changing out my dometic sensitive touch thermostat to the easy touch. Thanks!!
After months of putting this off, I went ahead and did this modification. 100% worth it. About 2 hours worth of work and $25 in supplies. The noise being reduced and better air flow. Should have done this before we even started using the camper. Thanks for the great content!
Just finished doing this following your video how to, man what a difference it made... with higher ceiling my AC did so so in keeping it cool during summer camping trips, can't wait to try it out.
I used your video as a guide on my 2018 Wildcat 5th wheel. I say guide because much of it wouldn’t work for me. But seeing how you did it enabled me to modify where needed to get it done. Immediately saw a marked improvement in air flow.
I had the steel divider with spot welds attaching it to the flat sheet metal mounting plate, but my fan discharge was not centered so I had to tweak the teepee from your layout slightly. I went a step further and insulated around the whole vent opening with reflectix bubble wrap and aluminum tape. The cooling capability is 100 times better. My bunk area is getting much more flow. Actually, all the vents have higher flow rates. I suspect cold air was getting sucked and pushed into the hot side. My system cools so much better that both the blower and compressor cycle on and off. Thanks for posting this.
Did one of mine today on Dometic, Huge difference!! Thanks, now to get a day off to tackle the easier one in the bedroom. Great video by the way. I used a table saw to rip angles etc, don’t recommend if your not good with a table saw. Kicks back easily. ET.
I just completed this modification. It came out great. However, I did run into one challenge in that my power supply wire ran across the cold air side which I didn’t realize until I was half way through the modification. I can share some pictures of my work around that others may appreciate
I did this before my last 8500 mile trip down through Arizona, Texas and Mississippi. What a difference. Our trailer was freezing. Thank you. One thing to remember WHEN YOU TORQUE THE LONG SCREWS BACK DOWN THEY ARE TORQUED TO INCH POUNDS NOT FOOT POUNDS.
VERY NICE! I was worried until you got to the teepee (triangle on floor) to held direct the air. Was pre-building in my head, but jumped ahead. GREAT JOB/IDEA, I’ll be wrapping mine up tomorrow. Thank you.
I did this last August when I replaced the AC unit. I am so happy with the outcome of the operation of the new baffles. Thank you so much for your instructional video. The AC is working so much better.👍👍👍👍
I am absolutely amazed how well this modification is working! We have only done the front a/c and I am not sure we need to do the rear (bedroom a/c). Since we have a different coach, if we do the rear a/c we will be using 1/2 foam board. We are in the high desert in Southern Utah. Outside temps have reached triple digits, but the inside of our Palazzo has not been higher than a comfortably dry 80 degrees! Noise level has been reduced, but not drastically.
Good stuff. I try to never use the dump vents, never seemed smart to have cold air come out right next to the intake for hot. Your cold comes out & goes right back in. Good plug for Josh the RV nerd! Love his videos!
Hey Ross I did this two years ago and it has been well worth it. My AC’s are Coleman Macs which I think are a little easier. My son’s ac is dometic like yours which is just little more time but worth it, his wife loves how quiet it is.
Great mod and instructional! A little sneaky how your tape just appeared tho, that was rather labor intensive. I'm not a qualified handyman but neither am I a slouch. I put 7 hours in on the ac unit and 2 hours in on the vents(not described here, just remove the cylinders and tape the transition from duct to each vent) After finishing the ac unit I had 39% greater airflow and a 4db reduction in noise. After doing the vents, airflow improvement was upped to a full 50%! Recommended if you don't mind putting the time in.
Ok finally did this and it worked great. One slight modification I did was to block off the port leading to the bedroom vents as we have the 2nd AC. My wife commented on how much quieter and cooler the living area is. Success!
I had installed a similar device (tepee) a couple of years ago, but it was not as sealed as this method. Today I used your method. Was hoping for more air flow and lower noise. My lase device utilized some noise reduction also, so no improvement with this method. But the increase in air flow was 21 % which is significant. Very happy with your method! Definitely worth the effort.
I love this video! We just purchased a camper and where it was at, they could only hook a generator to it to show us how everything worked. He said the air worked great. We got home with it and needless to say it didn't cool and the bedroom was hot. My husband gets a kick out of me watching videos and fixing things. I watched this video, purchased the items and went to work. We were both amazed at the difference in made in this a/c!! Your instructions were great!
Thank you for your informative video. There is many videos available showing the same information, but yours was by far the best. I followed your instructions step by step and quickly got the job done. What a difference. I appreciate the help. Thank you!
Dude, this was incredible advice. I built mine today, took me less than an hour in total and i had to have doubled my airflow. My divider had fallen out of place so there was nothing separating the warm and cool sides. I’ve never heard my ac kick off and on until now. I think all in i spent maybe $30. Great video
Just did this and the difference is amazing. Thank you so much for showing this mod, you save me $170 I was planing on spending on th AC Airflow system.
Great video. This is a great upgrade and highly recommend it even for brand new camper. Much better air flow. This definitely should be the standard to prevent freezing up issues. The manufacturers should work with RV Air and incorporate their product into all campers. Thanks again for another great video. Keep it up and happy camping.
you are so good at demonstrating as you talk us through all the steps! keep on,, keepin on with what ya doin! cuz not just anybody can make a step by step , it takes a certain kinda person that can communicate their knowledge so thanks! its gonna help
Pull all a/c vents and seal the gap between ceiling and vent with a/c tape. We went with RV Airflow System. I'm a licensed a/c service technician. only loosing the dump vent is well worth it. Great job on self manufacturing kit.
Howdy from South Texas Summer! It’s 103 and full sun outside right now, but after this mod it’s 72 in the main part of or 37’ Open Range fifth wheel with thermostat set to 71! I have only done it to the front AC. The bunk room vents in the back are blowing hard for the first time. My kids are now fussing it’s too cold! Thanks for the excellent tutorial and time you put into it. 🥶
I watched this because my AC was barely blowing and wanted to try this before installing a second AC unit. Well it turns out that whoever installed the AC unit put that metal bracket in backwards and the air was mixing! I flipped it 180 and now it blows way harder! I plan on still doing this modification though because that summer heat is right around the corner
THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO - WORKS GREAT! Just made the change two weeks ago - went on a 5 day trip in still hot Texas (not today - 37 and brrr) and it was so much better. We did not have to turn on the Closed Captions when watching TV, could actually talk to each other, and all but one vent was blowing great; BLOWING STRONG IN THE BEDROOM. Certainly plan to open the vent cover to the vent that is not blowing well to determine the problem, and will examine all of the vents so just make sure everything is looking good. The jigsaw works great, just know that you may need a mask and may want to try to contain the particles - they get everywhere - and they cling; but they vac up too! THANKS AGAIN!
This was a great video to follow along with and gave me a solid foundation to work from. My project wasn't nearly as easy, though. The ducts were in the middle of the opening rather than at the end so I had to cut my foam a bit differently and it took a substantial amount of time to figure out. That's most likely due to be trying to engineer it perfectly, which didn't happen. 😉 The separator foam was only 2", but cut to fit the wiring through openings and the control box to fit directly into upon reassembly. I may have to redesign part of it as the intake opening is a bit small now but I think sufficient for the time being. I feel more airflow at the vents and think things are sealed far better than factory. When it was first pulled apart I found obstruction at the ducts right away from excess roof material and cut that away before taping the area and resealing. Overall, it was a fun but long upgrade. Thanks for the guidance!
Thank you so much for sharing. We have a Imagine XLS 22MLE. I just made the change. The noise is better, and we share see on the next camping trip in August to Buttonwood, PA. I used Gorilla double face tape to hold my electrical box to the side. Again, Thank you for the video. Fellow PAer.
I’ve watched a few of your videos now for mods as I’m getting ready to go full time in an RV. All I can say is you are providing an amazing service to many of us out here without a clue and have definitely gained me as a subscriber. Can’t wait to scroll through more and more of your previous videos
Great video. I did this exactly like your video and I am amazed how quiet my AC is and how much more air is coming out of my vents. I have a 2022 Grand Design Imagine 17MKE and this should be how they come from the factory. Thank you!
Thank you for the great video with great details I have a 2023 Imagine 2600 Rb with the exact same AC I did the modification yesterday and wow what a difference Thank you 😊
My control board just took a dump yesterday. I plan on converting it to a twenty four volt with parts out of my truck today and will incorporate this seal and baffle idea you are pushing. I'm an HVAC tech so on my own stuff I have liberty in doing what I want.
Great idea. I purchased the rv air flow a couple of years ago also works GREAT, but costs way more. One other suggestion that I did, at the end of the duct work runs I put a piece of foam to block off any air leaks at the ends of the run. All of it helps a lot. Just wish the rv builders would insult the roof better. Keep up the good work.
You should pull your vent registers and check to see if you have air leaks going into your ceiling. I had three of my seven ceiling vent with large openings. I use the same A/C tape on all of my vents. Good job on your video, I did both of my A/C, big improvement in air flow
Please add some before and after decibels this is one of the best mod videos I have seen. Need to reseal my roof acs and will install this mod. Great job on the video.
I didnt take measurements but the readings i gave at the beginning of the video were averages based off of 4 or 5 others that did it at the time I recorded this.
Thanks for this video! I did everything but the teepee to direct the flow. What a difference! Side note: Why the hell can’t the manufacturer do a better job than this???
I just did this mod today on both of my dometic units and man what a difference. It cooled down my MH a lot faster. Going to see how long it takes to cool down in the heat of the day here in Las Vegas.
Hi Ross, just bought a 17 avenger. Just finished this mod. Great info on it (just like all your videos) keep it up!!!! Gonna do some of your other mods too. Thanks very much! Ps: Josh's videos are great too
Did it today! Thanks! I can tell that the Air flow is stronger, however the real gains here are how much it quiets the AC.. We might be able to watch TV while the air conditioner's on 😂
I just made this mod last weekend. It took a good part of the day. I had no way of measuring airflow, but there is definitely an improvement. My plenum was the same as yours - with the separator wall. Definitely a significant reduction in noise, as well. Another thing with our camper is that the ducts in the ceiling from the unit are perpendicular to the length of the camper, then it must go to "T" sections and run to front and rear - also reducing airflow efficiency.
Ross, trying to get a materials list in your description without watching the whole video in Lowe’s! I will say a year must make a huge difference in materials. The tape alone was $23.00 foam Board was $13.00 still cheaper than the $170.00 of the prefab model. Thanks for the post.
I found this to be one part of the equation. My ducts did not line up and we're not sealed to the housing. However, the second part of the equation where the vents screw into the ceiling. My vents have round flanges and these flanges were also not sealed to the duct. I also found splits on the ducts at the vent and vents that didn't even align with the vent hole made in the duct. I taped everything with foil tape, sealed the ducts to the housing and the vents to the ducts and my camper has never had such good AC. My room is ice cold. Sad part is this is a 2022 camper and I'm the first owner. Factory did a careless job.
Great video, the noise is the biggest issue for me (I live in Michigan) I’m sure this will help with that too, I guess you could cut notches in for the dump feature to work after the modification, but I think I would try it without the notches first and go from there. Thanks again 🙏👍
kind of the same for me... even though our AC ran alot prior to this, its a small trailer and it got nice and cool, but the sound difference was important to us too.
I went to do this mod on my 2022 Imagine 2670MK, and I guess Grand Design has been watching you.!My AC has had this partially done at the factory! There's a divider between the hot and cold, and a bit of a slope forcing the air into the ventilation. Great video though. You're easy to follow and enyoyble to watch.
Great video, you might mention RV AirFlow. They make an upgrade to the tune of around 170.00 bucks but those who have them love em. I have the same unit you do and may do this mod. I live and camp in the Pacific Northwest so the heater gets a lot more use than the AC. I did seal mine better but nothing near what you did. I’m new to your channel and have enjoyed your videos so thanks.
Basically the same thing. The mod costs $15, the prefab version is $170. Personally as a DIY'er, I wasn't interested in spending $170 on styrofoam for something I could build for less than 10% of the cost.
This is a very good video!! I am currently working on my unit today. I didn’t take the metal off at all which has made it much more difficult to get my hands in there. I left the center metal piece in and filled in each triangle corner to make it a flat surface for the “divider”. Yeah, I’m doing it the hard way. I can’t use a 1” board for the base as the bottom of my duct work is almost flush, no 1” space! I’m going to try to build something out of some 3/16” cardboard fir the base and have the tepee mounted to that. Hope it works!!
Cardboard or styrofoam I’m sure will work just fine. Cover everything with the metal tape to keep the air cold. Good luck let me know if you have questions.
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS wow, that was quick! Thanks so much!! I was just looking at the Wacko RV AC silencer I saw on another tube presenter. He only measured a 2 decibel difference, but said it was certainly less annoying. For almost $250, I’ll come up with something else if this doesn’t make it a little quieter. Noticed the Dynamat in your comments too.
Finished today. I was unable to build the teepee with the metal plate still mounted. Traveling Thursday so didn’t want to do that now. I’ll do that another day. However, I taped everything imaginable and built the “down” sides. Sealed the bottom off. Much better flow through vents now, AND sound dropped 6 decibels!! Very pleased!! Thanks so much for posting a very clear, concise, and extremely informative video.
Excellent modification. I did mine last night. Quick question: The Thermostat box in the return air, there is a wire coming from it that doesn't connect to anything else, I am guessing that is the wire that measures the temperature - or is it the whole box? If it is that wire, where is the best place to locate it. The AC is much quieter!! And, it doesn't seem to stay on as long - So, I am guessing that it did what it was supposed to do!
My baffle is in and I am ready to put the control box up and zip tie wires when I noticed that one of the wires is not going to any connection and has no evidence of being crimped in on of the connections. This leads me to believe that the 4 wire harness only needed 3 of the wires. I’ll test the AC before closing it all up. Great video !!
It might be your thermistor wire. Watch this: RV AC Coil & Filter Cleaning - Air Conditioner Maintenance Made Easy! czcams.com/video/5iQp_UOqjdE/video.html
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS it turns out it’s an unused wire on the harness. Tapped it off and the AC works better than ever. Both cleaners arrive today so I’ll get on the roof in the morning to clean the unit per your video instruction. This will make a big difference in the Arizona sun. Thank you!
Just did this to my camper 20 minutes ago. What a difference. It’s crazy now much the factory metal wall bracket blocks the vent intakes. The ac is much quieter now and it blows way harder. It sucks in alot more air now too. Very curious to see how well it works with the Florida heat.
I recently did this mod to out MallardM26 and WOW!! The difference is felt instantly and the reduction in decibels is noticed too! All the areas of the tt have cool air flowing and everyone is much happier and relaxed during our summer use months! Now if only I can improve the flow for the furnace vents! 🤨🤔🤔

Thanks Scot, appreciate that!!
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS For sure. You are totally rocking it!
Many thanks from a resident Florida RVer. A simple, yet effective, solution to increasing air flow for one of the most important things in my RV!
This has to be the best ac modification video I have seen!! I will be doing this!! I am also changing out my dometic sensitive touch thermostat to the easy touch. Thanks!!
Thanks Tony!
had the Easy Touch installed in my 2021 Lance. It is AWESOME! Well worth the money!
easy touch video being released this weekend, check it out!
czcams.com/video/o0-Yvr3YPQo/video.html
After months of putting this off, I went ahead and did this modification. 100% worth it. About 2 hours worth of work and $25 in supplies. The noise being reduced and better air flow. Should have done this before we even started using the camper.
Thanks for the great content!
glad to hear and glad to help!
Just finished doing this following your video how to, man what a difference it made... with higher ceiling my AC did so so in keeping it cool during summer camping trips, can't wait to try it out.
Thanks for the feedback Brian.
I used your video as a guide on my 2018 Wildcat 5th wheel. I say guide because much of it wouldn’t work for me. But seeing how you did it enabled me to modify where needed to get it done. Immediately saw a marked improvement in air flow.
Glad it helped enough to figure yours out Dan!
Thanks for posting this.
thanks for the comment Pete, glad to help.
Did one of mine today on Dometic, Huge difference!! Thanks, now to get a day off to tackle the easier one in the bedroom. Great video by the way. I used a table saw to rip angles etc, don’t recommend if your not good with a table saw. Kicks back easily. ET.
good to hear Emil, good luck with the other AC.
Glad it helped
I am absolutely amazed how well this modification is working! We have only done the front a/c and I am not sure we need to do the rear (bedroom a/c). Since we have a different coach, if we do the rear a/c we will be using 1/2 foam board. We are in the high desert in Southern Utah. Outside temps have reached triple digits, but the inside of our Palazzo has not been higher than a comfortably dry 80 degrees! Noise level has been reduced, but not drastically.
awesome, glad it worked out for you. thanks for watching!
I just did this mod using your video as my instructions. It worked great and took less than two hours. Great mod, great video. Thanks!
Glad it helped Eric!
Good stuff. I try to never use the dump vents, never seemed smart to have cold air come out right next to the intake for hot. Your cold comes out & goes right back in. Good plug for Josh the RV nerd! Love his videos!
Best explanation and walk through I have seen of this modification. Great job thanks!
I agree with you Randall, this shows you every piece. very clear.
Thanks for commenting Randall!
Hey Ross I did this two years ago and it has been well worth it. My AC’s are Coleman Macs which I think are a little easier. My son’s ac is dometic like yours which is just little more time but worth it, his wife loves how quiet it is.
Good to hear Jeff! Hope the videos help.
Thanks for a excellent illustration. Getting ready for a two week trip gotta do this. Much respect OH IO
Have fun!
Success!
Glad to hear, thanks for the update RB.
Glad it helped
This works! I did this on my camper, plus re taped the duct work at the registers, huge difference in air flow! Definitely worth the time!
Glad it helped
I did this on my motorhome with both A/C’s. The difference in cooling volume of air was fantastic.
nice, thanks for the comment
I love this video! We just purchased a camper and where it was at, they could only hook a generator to it to show us how everything worked. He said the air worked great. We got home with it and needless to say it didn't cool and the bedroom was hot. My husband gets a kick out of me watching videos and fixing things. I watched this video, purchased the items and went to work. We were both amazed at the difference in made in this a/c!! Your instructions were great!
That is awesome!
Thank you for your informative video. There is many videos available showing the same information, but yours was by far the best. I followed your instructions step by step and quickly got the job done. What a difference. I appreciate the help. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I've been doing hvac 37yrs ,your never to old to learn.
Dude, this was incredible advice. I built mine today, took me less than an hour in total and i had to have doubled my airflow. My divider had fallen out of place so there was nothing separating the warm and cool sides. I’ve never heard my ac kick off and on until now. I think all in i spent maybe $30. Great video
Glad it helped!
Just did this and the difference is amazing. Thank you so much for showing this mod, you save me $170 I was planing on spending on th AC Airflow system.
Glad I could help!
Thanks Greg!
you are so good at demonstrating as you talk us through all the steps!
keep on,,
keepin on
with what ya doin!
cuz not just anybody can make a step by step , it takes a certain kinda person that can communicate their knowledge
so thanks!
its gonna help
Thanks for the nice comment Kristine, and thanks for watching!
Pull all a/c vents and seal the gap between ceiling and vent with a/c tape. We went with RV Airflow System. I'm a licensed a/c service technician. only loosing the dump vent is well worth it. Great job on self manufacturing kit.
Thank you sir, appreciate the kind comment.
We have this type of AC in our trailer and I'm glad we found this. The other videos don't talk about the divider. Thanks.
Glad it helped
Howdy from South Texas Summer! It’s 103 and full sun outside right now, but after this mod it’s 72 in the main part of or 37’ Open Range fifth wheel with thermostat set to 71! I have only done it to the front AC. The bunk room vents in the back are blowing hard for the first time. My kids are now fussing it’s too cold! Thanks for the excellent tutorial and time you put into it. 🥶
that is AWESOME to hear! thanks for sharing Jesse!
Finally got around to doing this in my 30 amp 2800bh and what a major difference in both noise and airflow! Excellent video and instructions!
Glad it helped!
Did this today, huge difference. Thank you for the video.
Glad it helped!!!
I watched this because my AC was barely blowing and wanted to try this before installing a second AC unit. Well it turns out that whoever installed the AC unit put that metal bracket in backwards and the air was mixing! I flipped it 180 and now it blows way harder! I plan on still doing this modification though because that summer heat is right around the corner
thanks for watching!
This is amazing. Saving to come back too because who doesn’t want quieter ac in their RV.
thanks for watching guys!
This video was phenomenal for diy on my ac duct modification..Thanks so much for posting this video!!
Thanks for the nice comment and for watching Michael.
Thanks for sharing!
The separator foam was only 2", but cut to fit the wiring through openings and the control box to fit directly into upon reassembly.
Glad to help and that you got it figured out.
Thank you so much for sharing. We have a Imagine XLS 22MLE. I just made the change. The noise is better, and we share see on the next camping trip in August to Buttonwood, PA. I used Gorilla double face tape to hold my electrical box to the side. Again, Thank you for the video. Fellow PAer.
nice! PA is a great state for camping.
I’ve watched a few of your videos now for mods as I’m getting ready to go full time in an RV. All I can say is you are providing an amazing service to many of us out here without a clue and have definitely gained me as a subscriber. Can’t wait to scroll through more and more of your previous videos
Awesome, thank you!
This looks pretty daunting, but as new RVers, my wife and I found the factory air conditioner to be darn near useless, so this is a good project
It won’t be as bad as it looks. Most annoying part will be getting the A/C apart and getting started. If you’ve got the tools needed it’ll be easy!
Just close your vent with the slide because someday you'll want it back. When it's closed it forces most of the air to the other vents and that's free
thanks for watching
Great video. I did this exactly like your video and I am amazed how quiet my AC is and how much more air is coming out of my vents. I have a 2022 Grand Design Imagine 17MKE and this should be how they come from the factory. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Installed new AC today and did it to mine… what a difference!!!! Many thanks for the great vid and heads up!
Great to hear!
I would recommend taking a photo of the manufacturer labels before taping and closing up the AC
definitely agree Doug.
My wife and I are going to try this with our two trailers. Hopefully we can start this weekend!
Good luck, ask questions if needed!
Thank you for the great video with great details I have a 2023 Imagine 2600 Rb with the exact same AC
I did the modification yesterday and wow what a difference
Thank you 😊
Glad it helped!
My control board just took a dump yesterday. I plan on converting it to a twenty four volt with parts out of my truck today and will incorporate this seal and baffle idea you are pushing. I'm an HVAC tech so on my own stuff I have liberty in doing what I want.
You’re my new favorite rv channel to reference. Thank you times a billion 🙌
glad to help
I agree about the insulation. Thanks bud.
You should pull your vent registers and check to see if you have air leaks going into your ceiling. I had three of my seven ceiling vent with large openings. I use the same A/C tape on all of my vents.
Good job on your video, I did both of my A/C, big improvement in air flow
Alfred, I thought to mention that about the vents just after I published the video. Thanks for adding and commenting my friend!
Side note: Why the hell can’t the manufacturer do a better job than this???
great question!
Perfect educational video! Strait to the point and no getting off topic! Thanks for sharing this “cool” mod. I’m all over it 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Well thought-out and edited video, thanks!
Thank you Ben!
I just did this mod today on both of my dometic units and man what a difference. It cooled down my MH a lot faster. Going to see how long it takes to cool down in the heat of the day here in Las Vegas.
nice!
Hi Ross, just bought a 17 avenger. Just finished this mod. Great info on it (just like all your videos) keep it up!!!! Gonna do some of your other mods too. Thanks very much!
Ps: Josh's videos are great too
Thanks Ron, glad to have you on board!!
I did exactly what you suggested, my trailer is on another level now! Thanks
glad to help my friend
Did it today! Thanks!
I can tell that the Air flow is stronger, however the real gains here are how much it quiets the AC.. We might be able to watch TV while the air conditioner's on 😂
Good stuff!
Thanks for all your knowledge and info!
Really top notch and easy to understand and follow along.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice work!
Great video, be a good idea to take a few pictures of the ac unit service labels before you put the tape on them.
Ross, trying to get a materials list in your description without watching the whole video in Lowe’s! I will say a year must make a huge difference in materials. The tape alone was $23.00 foam Board was $13.00 still cheaper than the $170.00 of the prefab model. Thanks for the post.
Wow, I see some on Amazon for $10-$15 a roll. Metal tape is one of those things you get what you pay for though. Thanks for the info bud.
This is my first exposure to your channel. But this video is so thorough and succinct that I’m subscribing. Thanks so much!
Awesome! Thank you!
Factory did a careless job.
my ducts were misaligned as well... you think they would get that right.
Genius!. Thumps up! I see people taking out the divider, wow! I knew i could improve mine, diy vs the 84$$ fix. Thanks!
glad to help
Did this one myself. Thanks for the clear instructions. Works great!
Glad it helped!
Excellent tutorial. Will be doing this over 4 July holiday.
Let me know if you have any questions bud.
Very thorough and informative. Well done. I made all necessary modifications leave in 5 days can’t wait to test it out
nice, let me know how it works
I went to do this mod on my 2022 Imagine 2670MK, and I guess Grand Design has been watching you.!My AC has had this partially done at the factory! There's a divider between the hot and cold, and a bit of a slope forcing the air into the ventilation. Great video though. You're easy to follow and enyoyble to watch.
Thank you Jeff, really appreciate that.
Thanks William.
Isn't it basically doing the exact same thing? It's just a big ole piece of foam isn't it?
Basically the same thing. The mod costs $15, the prefab version is $170. Personally as a DIY'er, I wasn't interested in spending $170 on styrofoam for something I could build for less than 10% of the cost.
great details. easy to follow. I did everything just like you said and it's quieter and pushes more air out the vents!
Thanks for the input my friend.
Thanks so much for posting a very clear, concise, and extremely informative video.
thanks for making this easy to follow. it gets hot in florida, thinking about doing this over the next week.
It will definitely help!
Owen, it might be your thermistor.... check this video out and tell me if that looks familiar: czcams.com/video/5iQp_UOqjdE/video.html
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS That's it!!! Thank you.
Thank you!
Awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing!
As comedian Ron White would say: "Overkill!" 😂 but i love it
Just did this today, came out awesome and I finally have AC in the front of my RV ! 😂
Thanks !!
Glad it helped!
Just did this to my camper 20 minutes ago. What a difference. It’s crazy now much the factory metal wall bracket blocks the vent intakes. The ac is much quieter now and it blows way harder. It sucks in alot more air now too. Very curious to see how well it works with the Florida heat.
nice!
thanks for commenting Marcus... you just gave me an idea. Let me take a look at that 🤔 stay tuned.
Absolutely amzing baffle build man!!!
thank you!
