- Guest instructor, Dave Holland, shares a couple Ocean drums and a few Arab rhythms you can play using the Dum, Pah, and Chick sounds. Dave shows you how to play the Dum (bass), Pah (Slap), and Chick (edge strike) sounds and then combine them into rhythms such as Malfuf and Maqsoum.

I still say Dave should've pursued a career in radio. It's not too late to do so. 😉
Worthwhile video. My ocean drum was made by Remo, as I recall, about 25 years ago, and it's still going strong.
Anyone notice all the sea drum players Dave mentioned have really fun sounding names?
Thanks Dave, this was a great lesson. I've been wanting an ocean drum, and made me want one even more. I'll be sure to pass this around to all of my groups. Take care of you and yours, stay safe, healthy and happy!
Great instructions! Thank you!
Awesom demo, thank you soooo much!
Thank you for the interesting demo.

Cool 👍 thanks for sharing 😬😄😬
Very interesting instruments...which I've never run across. Your demonstration was very motivating and I appreciate how you presented the sound patterns you demonstrated. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it. Please share and support all our teachers.
Thanks, I'm subbed :)

That's awesome! Can you guys make a video about cinematic percussion?
I have an ocean drum I should be using more. I saw this come up just before leaving for work. I will have to check this out more tomorrow when I have time. I use middle eastern drumstrokes myself. I'm curious to see what is used in this video.
Thanks Dave and Kalani! Maybe we could get a part 2 on shaking/rolling techniques for these drums?
Great idea!
I'd love to buy a frame drum. It's not cheap but also not crazy expensive and the rhytms bussinnn
I really loved your video! Thank you so much for sharing it❤ I recently got a 16” ocean drum and have tried following your video. I am having trouble with the chick sound because I can’t seem to keep the drum In place without falling therefore I can’t seem to keep the rhythm any advice
Does anyone know of a machine or device that would rock the drum back and forth for sleeping
Splendid tutorial! I am considering to buy a Meinl. Which size is yours in that video please?
what size is the first ocean drum
Çiftetelli is famous from turkey 😎😎
Wasn't this guy in Judas Priest?
Mmmmm if I'm taking anything from my kitchen it sounds better.
Ocean drum, Take me by the bum
If you're chewing gum, Can I please have some
