  • In 2014, Argentine football side (and Pope Francis' favourite team), San Lorenzo de Almagro entered the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores, as the second-lowest ranked club in the tournament. Few expected them to battle their way to the finals, where they faced the lowest ranked club of the contest, Club Nacional, of Paraguay. The Argentine squad, through incredible skill and dedication, won the tournament for the first time that year.
    This is the story of San Lorenzo, and their first Copa Libertadores win. The unforeseen, unexpected, and unpredictable: San Lorenzo's championship was truly an iconic moment, in the Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores.
