Hi. Lia here. I love shimmies. Though struggle with time to practice due to tutoring. But I do love it and leg shimmies are one of my favorites. You do it so easily. Love to see many more different styles to it for sure.
Hi Lia! Welcome to my channel, and thank you for your kind comment. I love shimmy too, and I hope to share more! I look forward to seeing you on the shimmy dance floor too!
@@ShimmyFitz Thank you. I will try one day once I am able to last a period of time doing it comfortably without losing endurance and rhythm 🤣 Cant wait to see more of your shimmies here. Thank you💞
That was beautiful. Thank you for the tutorial. I struggle with this shimmy because I cannot keep up with the fast pace for long. But it takes practice. Great stuff ✨✨
You're welcome! I am glad that you found this tutorial helpful. Yes, it does take practice, and it's very important to practice the correct technique! Keep going, you will definitely get there!
@@ShimmyFitz Thank you. I will keep practicing and hopefully get there one day. I will keep following you and your tutorials and hopefully improve enough to make videos on the dancing and give you a shoutout for helping me along the way.
you go sis 🥰🤩 you are so amazing and blessed at this dance sis. This is one of my favorite shimmies to watch and practice sis. I talk to you soon.
Thank you so much 🤗 I am glad that you enjoyed this video!!! Keep shimmying!
@@ShimmyFitz You got my love and support always sis so lets keep shimmying as long as we can do it
Stunning 🍑💖💖💖 I sometimes overlock my knees when doing the shimmy. But never really felt any pain. Unless you do 20 minutes of overlocking your knees, then I can see it being painful 😆 another part I struggle with is the breathing part of the shimmy. I sometimes focus on the shimmy more and I forget to keep relaxed and breath. I still have a lot to learn. WIth your teaching, tutorials, videos here, I will for sure master this eventually thanks to you 💞💞🙏
That is true, a few times overlocking won't cause immediate pain. But still, they can eventually add up. And overlocking will take away the energy of the shimmy vibrations and slow you down.
And yes, when we are first learning and practising, we always forget to relax! We tend to hold our breath but that just makes it worse. It sounds like you know what you need to do - but I totally understand that actually doing it is more challenging than learning the theory! This has given me an idea - I will plan on shimmy challenges which we can all do to keep us motivated, to practice together, and to help us all improve in our shimmies.
I'm so glad you found my videos helpful. I will definitely make more to share! Stay awesome and keep shimmying!
I just got chance to see more videos. This is wonderful 💞💞 so I watch videos in belly dance. I see dancers do these different shimmies. I particularly love this shimmy the most because of the strength in it and you can tell. And with the different shimmies. I seen some that can do Leg, Egyptian shimmy, which is it same as vibration? is it all connected together? or little different? plus you say it is one of the easiest? It is fun for sure 💞👏🙌
To my understanding, leg shimmy can also be done as vibrations, but you have to build up your technique to get there. Without the correct base technique, it will just be a shake or shimmy, without any vibrations.
For me, when I first learnt this, my teacher said it was one of the easiest shimmies, and I found it to be easier than a lot of other shimmies. It is also very fun, and I enjoy doing this even if just as a simple warm-up exercise in a cold room 😆
@@ShimmyFitz Wow ok. So you just have to build up the technique, base corrections and lots of practice, you could do vibrations on different types of shimmies I guess. I too love this shimmy the most because its fun and it is kind of easy but the more I practice, the better I will get. Also quick question. So how do some dancers have that big shake or vibration in the glutes? sometimes it looks so small but at times look so big, is it just in the technique or just depends on the power and speed you can make the glutes really move big? thank you.
It is definitely in the technique, which builds up to the power and speed! Without the correct technique, it would be very difficult to build power and speed.
However, I also think could depend on the body type and the muscle/fat body composition. People with a little bit more fat are more "jiggly", so with the correct technique, power, and speed, a little movement makes their moves look amazing. Those who have less won't be able to create the same jiggly look, because they don't have the fat to jiggle. And those with high muscle mass and very little fat have even less movement because muscles are too tight and toned.
I do notice that some people who are too toned, like athletes, look amazingly fit but they don't usually produce the same kind of vibrations even if they want to shimmy. I think they can still create shimmy movements, but the vibration effects look different.
I think that is why usually belly dancers are usually not overly toned. They have muscles to control their movements of course, and a bit of fat which allow them to be able to emphasise the shimmy vibrations.
Like for me personally. When I was super toned and fit, I could still shimmy, and I could even hit the speed, tempo, and power. But the vibrations did not look as good as when I had a bit more fat, which were able to emphasise the vibrations.
By the way, the above are just my observations. So if anyone has any corrections, I do welcome them.
P/S: I hope no one reading this has a negative connotation of fat. I hate it when people talk about 0% fat! That is extremely unhealthy. Everyone needs to have a certain amount of fat in their body, and having fat actually is beautiful and keeps us looking young 🤩
@@ShimmyFitz Wow. Great insight on this. I always wondered that. And you are so right on about that. With how some girls are toned and do vibration, big shimmies, it does not look like they are moving much but some girls that have more fat on the body can do more jiggle and I realize it now. And I agree with you 100% we need body fat on us, having no fat is not good, but also having too much fat is not good either. we need perfect balance.
I Just thought of an Idea. With how you described all this. you maybe could do a video and show different in all this. like with the jiggling aspect of the shimmy. with doing few different types shimmies like Egyptian, hip, vibration, one leg shimmy be great try Natasha. What you think? would you do video on this, maybe few videos on the whole challenge on your power and speed and vibration to see how strong you are and if there is a lot of jiggle or not? thanks Natahsa. talk to you soon.
That's a great idea! I will think about making a video about this.
