I drove the EQC for two weeks and MBUX drove me crazy. So many little design flaws in the user experience. I feel most reviewers don't test all functions properly, they just tap around on the touchscreen and say "crisp and responsive!" And while the cabin is good looking, it feels a bit dark and cramped, especially in the back because of the small windows.

The thing about Electric cars, is that it comes with a lot of pre-conditions.
      Like having a House & a Driveway first…
Even public chargers cost just as much as Petrol nowadays.
Sometimes the charges (if you find one vacant) aren’t even working & don’t get fixed for Weeks.

Everything has pros and cons. Ice and ev's are no different. However ev's are definitely getting more pros and fast.
You don't need to live in a house and have a driveway. I live in an apartment and I charge my car in the garage of the building.
I see other people leaving their cars outside on the street, connected to a slow charger, so in the morning, the car has a full "tank".
But definitely the most positive thing of driving an ev compared to an ice vehicle is that you're not polluting the air that you own breathe, which is pretty ABSURD when you think about it.

What a fantastic walk through of these cars. I found especially the measuring of the cargo space very useful (I’m looking at the EQC vs e-tron). The deciding factor for me is a mix between practicality, efficiency, ease of use and price - in Denmark the used EQCs fit those criteria best.

I’ve got an HSE I-Pace and my wife has the E-Tron 55.
The E-Tron is a super comfortable cruiser and is a little more practical for family life. The infotainment and dash is very slick and I really rate the B&O audio.
The I-Pace wins hands down for driving dynamics but the Audi ride comfort is superb.
To me, the Jag just feels more special. Everything feels premium and it has an understated elegance the Germans just can’t match. It makes me smile every time I see it and every time I sit in the drivers seat, I want to take the long way home.

So I go the EQC - I would guess that at this level we are looking at a lot of these being company cars so OTR pricing is important than lease costs. Anyway the EQC is a fantastic car and even the base Sport/AMG model comes with decent kit levels, although I’d say less fun to drive that the iPace I test drove, the door access is a bit tight given the size and central tunnel mean makes 3 adults in the back a squeeze - ISO-FIX for the centre position would have been useful 🙂

Supercharger network matters only if you drive longer distances like on a weekly basis. If you don't, then it's often irrelevant.
And to be honest: we have e-tron 55 and Tesla M3P and I much rather drive Audi - even on longer distances. It's just soooo comfortable and quiet, and because the number of HPCs is increasing all the time, having the charging curve of e-tron is actually much better over any Tesla. You don't need to think on getting to a charger with a low SOC, because any SOC on e-tron gives you a high power.

What about a box that was just a little longer but not as tall, maybe that would fit in the eTron but not the Model X, for example.

I had one as a replacement car for a day, when I took my Evoque in for maintenance. It is a very nice car to drive. The downsides here in Belgium is the starting price of 80K euro or 68K GBP, a missing windscreen wiper at the back (mandatory to get the camera option for the rear view mirror). From an EV point of view, not having a stalk to change the regen mode (only 2), is quite annoying, should have at least 150kW charging indeed and the range/consumption could be better.
EQC and e-Tron are not built on an EV platform. Consumption and range are also a worry, as is charging speed for EQC.
The Model X is too wide and the price is also scary, but if you fully spec the others you are in the same price bracket.

  • @zerolight9420
    @zerolight9420 Před 2 lety

Tesla X is very nice, but it is really expensive. With discounts and their interest free option, the IPACE HSE is massively cheaper than every other car here. Closest to the HSE per month is a Model 3. Absolutely, if the Model X were the same price point it's a no brainer.
