- Where did this come from? An Elvis duet with Billy Fury on the incredible track Because Of Love. When this turned up at our office on a reel we were that excited we wanted to share it with the world and all the Elvis fans. Our team of lost archivists did some research. Some have said it originated from the original two track master recording when Billy met Elvis and invited him to record a duet. Others have suggested it was carefully crafted by the talented hands and ears of a certain Radio Programme Producer based in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. If this is the case, who is he? I agree there was only one Elvis & will always be the undisputed King of Rock n Roll but Billy had a lovely voice & sadly like Elvis died to young. It makes you wonder what they would be doing now had they still been alive. I suspect Billy would be touring with Marty Wilde, Joe Brown & the Searchers etc as opposed to Elvis packing them in at big Arena’s. Brit R&R still has a significant part of music history. I love it all & doesn’t it get us shaking our old hips as soon as we hear it.

Billy Fury did meet Elvis, it was on the set when Elvis was filming Girls Girls Girls. And this song was in the film and Fury did a cover version of it. Thought he done this song much better than the Elvis version, but a lot of his hits were brilliant cover versions.
The song was never recorded as a duet, somebody has spliced the 2 together, and not very well.
First pop concert I ever went to was to see Billy Fury, and for raw excitement it was brilliant, Fury on stage was electric.

I always thought Billy's version of 'Because Of Love' was the better and had the edge of the two recordings. The arrangement and phrasing etc...I am sure Elvis would have agreed. This is a very clever video edit. Very impressed.
Elvis recorded it. Billy met Elvis on the 1962 "Girls Girls Girls" movie set,heard this song,loved it & also recorded it. And with modern technology the two voices are put together! Simple!

Two of my absolute favourite singers, both taken too young but both left a wonderful musical legacy for others to enjoy who weren't even born when these performers were in their prime.

@@lindatilley8018 he never had children and he wasn't married when he died but he had been married twice.
According to a biography I read, the farm was actually purchased for him by his girlfriend, and that's where he spent his final years, at one with nature and his animals - where he was at his happiest.

They actually sang this together. Billy's manager arranged it. Elvis couldn't understand Billy because, apart from singing this with Elvis, Billy just sat at the side watching Elvis. Billy was so shy, and couldn't believe that he got to perform with his idol. I don't think this was explained to Elvis but, if his manager had explained about his shyness, I'm sure Elvis would have tried to include him a bit more.

Elvis had his own style. His charisma was something that no one else will ever have.I like them both. I've knew Presley ever since I've been 13 years old.I am now 70.There is alot of people that records other peples music.Most everyone liked Elvis recording their songs.There's just one person that wasnt happy about it.(BJ).Even Simon Bridge over troubled water said that Elvis sung it better than him hisself.I give them both credit.Both of their music sounds alot better than some of this crap now
I loved everything about Billy Fury in the sixties, but to compare him with Elvis is insane. Elvis presley was and will never be emulated as he was an icon and a living God to 50's and 60's music.

I'm a lifelong fan of both these legends it was just the other day I said to my wife they were both great and they both died too young 40 is no age. This isn't a real duet just some nifty work with some sound equipment. I doubt Colonel Parker would have allowed Billy to duet with Elvis he wouldn't have wanted his commodity ( and that's all Elvis was to him) being potentially upstaged. Elvis lived the American Dream and it turned into a nightmare for him, he was far too trusting and naive and hangers on took complete advantage of him. Billy on the other hand suffered rheumatic fever that weakened his heart he never came across as the typically aloof star and was content with life and looking after his animals. I had a vivid premonition of his death which still haunts me to this day. I doubt the likes of Billy Fury or Elvis will be seen again, they weren't just entertainers they were pioneers who came along after the Great Wars when people were looking for change in their own unique way they made history. God bless and keep them both.

but billy went to present elvis a gold disk on the film set of girls girls girls.billy watched elvis all day but said nothing as he was shy.elvis said who is this guy .anyway when billy returned to the uk decca decided because of love would be billy next single release. to coincide with the movie.
WWOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!! we know that billy met the king and presented him with gold or silver discs when he visited the states . if only these two cats actually recorded this track as a duet wonder what real rockin! tracks they could have done together as a jam session ? any ideas anyone?
