    Great review. I'm happy I got the GoPlus and not this one. That lower d-ring is at risk of snagging on something, no front bungees, feet exposed if you accidentally hit a submerged rock/branch. Certainly not worth all the extra cost vs the GoPlus.
    To create spacers for the daft square d-rings, get some polymorph plastic. I use it for many kayak mods myself as it is easy to reshape if you get something wrong. Just warm it and wrap around the bits of the d-ring that you don't want the clip to go.
    I don't even bother with PVC patches for my punctures now - I clean then warm the area with a hairdryer or a kettle of hot (nowhere near boiling though) water, dap on a bit of polymorph, which instantly bonds to hot PVC then deflate, warm the area again and press the polymorph flat. If it goes wrong just rewarm it and reshape or use a credit card to remove it. I've fixed a big hole in my 10psi kayak with it as well as my 15psi paddleboard.
    I paddle the GoPlus skeg-free myself but the skeg box tends to fill with mud as I portage so I intend to use some polymorph to create a dummy skeg that is like a small rail the kayak can glide on while being dragged instead of risking damage to the PVC or skeg box. If I can be bothered I may even make another that fits a castor to quickly slot in for longer portages.
    I bought 1kg of polymorph and that honestly feels like it will be a lifetime supply despite me using it for a thousand household fixes as well as for my kayaks, paddles, dry bags, e-scooter, bike, giving loads to friends, etc over the last two years. Realistically, 500g would likely be more than enough for anyone.

      I'm glad to see I'm not the only fan of polymorph plastic :D I've used it for all sorts too, although mostly vac mods. I like your hole repair tip - cool :D

    Good review Karl. I like the stability of that one but i'll be keeping an eye out if you do an up dated review. Like you i'm a bit concerned about those squareish D rings.

    Oh and I agree with the comments on the D rings and the floor… you must let me know what you do / how you do it when you said you’d fit your own D rings. And how you’ll seal the floor drain up because I think I’d like to do that too 👍🏻

      It's a good boat and you can tell they've thought about the design... It's just some of the aspects are a bit, lacking! I'm planning a mod vid for this one. It's the first time I've had to do anything like this :D

    Thumbs up for the video, presentation and review but I'm not of fan of that one. Twin fins, lack of circular D-rings and cockpit floor were all well made points Mr K.

      Thanks Ben. Nope there's no particular reason other than the first ones I saw were fabric covered and I tend to avoid those. I have a small fabric covered one already and they're sluggish.

    • @MoreThanJustaCleaner
      @MoreThanJustaCleaner  Před 2 lety

      It's a really good question and I'm sure I can answer it. I love the stability, rigidity and capacity of The Ironing Board and The Brent is along the same lines. The Pea Pod is also stable, hella robust and a good paddle. The Jackanory as you say is sleeker and faster. The Blueborn is fun on the sea and the lightest of all my flotilla.
      The Riber is really stable but so damn heavy and bulky and a crap single paddler craft. That's my least favourite along with the Blueborn because it's lack of versatility. The other 4 however all have strong points. But out of those it's fair to say the Ironing Board is the one that's surprised me the most.
