THE PLAYERS Championship returns to TPC Sawgrass after 2020’s unprecedented cancellation after the first round due to the emerging coronavirus pandemic. Dustin Johnson - the reigning FedExCup champion and current World No. 1 - leads a field that includes 27 of the top 30 in the current FedExCup standings and 47 of the World’s top 50. With no champion crowned last year, Rory McIlroy - who would go on to win the FedExCup for the second time after winning THE PLAYERS in 2019 - will look to defend his title from two years ago. In total there will be 108 PGA TOUR winners teeing it up at TPC Sawgrass, but who will emerge victorious?

This is the hard work we don’t see props to you man
Bruh he’s not doing the work, he rolls in when it’s tournament time and looks at stuff.
@@bluepandaman and
@@yogananthang1309 the maintenance Crew do the hard work there. And its not like 2 days before. More like 2 to 5 months ahead of the tournament. Like seeding, fertilize, mowing in a certain pattern for weeks to look that perfect on the TV. So yeah props the Greenkeeper Crew ✌🏻
Amazing how much effort goes in , what we dont see.
Some of these high end courses have more work and money poured into one hole than a lot of clubs do for the whole course!
I’ve been a greenskeeper for years SO much work goes on behind the scenes
Keeping a course like this is a 24/7 job. This isn't even 1% of it. The agronomy is astounding.
I worked there in 1994. I retired from the Navy and thought i would become a golf course supt. Lucked out and got a greens keeping job there. To see if I would like it. Played both courses for free. Found out working and playing your hobby didn’t work for me. Quit after 4 months. It’s a classy course. Glad I had the opportunity, I appreciate what they do to prep the course. In 93 when Nick Price won he gave all the course greens keepers a $100 tip.
Really though, no one's gonna talk about his putting?
Better than most
@@LackedBetterName Better than most, better thannn mossttt!!!!
That’s all he can do...He’s still better than 90% of club golfers in the country, but that ain’t nearly good enough. That’s how insanely good the Tour Pros are...
@@traviscoates6878 I think we was saying that guy was good at putting, he was making them with one hand and not even lining em up.
@@Auston1033 but he also set the hole and has been doing it at that course for probably a few years now he should know the greens better then anyone
The "moisture meter" guy skipped hole 17 two days ago..lol 🤣
That’s what happens on new greens that haven’t matured yet. It’s a new green complex from last year
The greens are like hardwood bruh and that hole is stupidly hard because every ball hit on that green rolls forever and it bounces on impact.
They discussed it in depth. It's new so it's firmer.
What a job this guy has !
Can't say I'm not a little envious 😊
Except for the hours. The crew probably works 60-80 hours per week
That rolling machine is something else, look at him go!
that guy at 6:00 so alpha he doesn't even care that it went in
So they mark the hole location the round before. So players and caddies can check it out and make plans for the next round of each hole if they smart
Caddies will look for it when they get to the green as well as players. Part of the job
The will also use different color turf marking paints , I know that is what some of the mini tour course set up guys do.
This is my first month working on a golf course and so far i'm enjoying it. Would be cool to work on a course like this one day.
Great video! Just very unfortunate that the moisture meter was broken when they prepared green #17 for round 1 ;-/
That’s a new green though. The players knew that going in
"Broken" like they didnt have another moisture meter. Hmmmm
Just nice to see people happy with their jobs.
im a grown man, and 3:10 looks so oddly fun. I would love a vehicle I could drive omni-directionally in. Left turn in 250 ft... as I translate across the intersection like some poorly photoshopped dude.
Cops trying to chase me after the bank robbery but I made a left while facing right.... yea that would be cool.
Moisture reading on Thursday at the 17th green: Sahara Desert
Beautiful course. Kudos to the team.
Excellent video! Seeing the behind-the-scenes makes me appreciate the game even more.
I'm going back to school to learn to be a roller! That guy has "the" job!
Wow crazy behind the scenes
Kudos to the team doing the actual work, superintendent and staff.
Better than most doesnt matter anymore with brand new greens and different turf
I want to see him roll the 17th
The most exciting thing about golf is that roller machine
I would love to see more contend like that. Also his putting is amazing.
I want that roller machine just to ride around on. That thing looks fun.
More of this content please!
Would love this job
Beautiful maintenance and prep
Yeah this seems stressful and all but have you ever prepared a course for member-member week or jamboree (Milwaukee Country Club) (Top 100 Golf Course). We grab A buddy and a string trimmer and trim native on hole 8 and there are big spiders. Also sometimes i Worry if the members really appreciate our work. Do you agree PGA? Do I do enough?
Nice putting too, man!!!! 👏👏👏
Wicked videos, should post more like this.
His putt at the end was better than most
17 green was like a concrete pad or a trampoline haha
This is such a cool job!
True professionals these guys.
That roller looks so fun
Nothing screws up a course like a pro tournament. :)
What an awesome job
Was I the only one say “BETTER THEN MOSTTTT” when he hit that??
Love it. I still trip out on golf in general. Will there be a day where a player is so great that he will just figure out all the science and speeds of every course and dominate the sport? Will hole placement eventually change to near impossible hole in ones? Maybe a hole an inch from the water? The sport has so much potential to expand that it's crazy to think what other things they can come up with.
There's a yearly club tournament at a local course called the Sidehill. The holes are cut on the sides of slopes and the greens are quick for a municipal course 9 or 10.
@@vicO1323 What state is that?
Really cool video!
The ultimate dad
Forgot to show the cement pouring a year ago on the 17th.
Huh I wonder where the tee box was
The roller should be called the wankavator.
My name in the roller be skirting
Wonder if there's a reason for the roller going sideways?
It's only the seat that's sideways. And that's so he can easily go back and forth.
Cool vid
I wonder if this guy wanted to make everybody have a bad day with pin location if any one would get mad.
That's 100% his job. Watching a cup get cut is pretty neat too.
How do you decrease moisture if not consistent? That’s amazing!
Probably just wait longer for the next watering. So if you water 3x a day, go to 2x and check it
Some courses, like TPC Sawgrass, have subair systems under the greens that can create a vacuum in the drainage to achieve faster percolation.
@@tedmiller2334 thank you!
I want this job so bad
Does he need an assistant? Looks like a pretty sweet job
the course is beyond perfect and half the tour can't break par? Does the PGA or USGA ever try to consider how to make the game easier, esp for amateurs? It's why most quit...TOO HARD
@5:59 better than most :)
Show me a better job!!! Amazing
3:20
*Charlie would like to know your location*
ridiculous amount of preparation for a golf tournament
How do I get this job
Dude looks like Matthew McConahay
Way too much fly mowing
so like. maybe.. make 17 way less firm. like soft. or something lol . that was dumb this year, no offense
Doing the lords work
This guy is really wearing a mask outdoors....
If it was actually for medical purposes understood but because someone told him to wear a medical apparatus i find it ridiculous.
Watched to :15. Couldn't take the scarf in the great outdoors !
Sometimes it gets cold and people need to wear something so they invented scarves
If that's the thing bothering you the most, you might wanna head back underground.
Have to agree.so many sheep
@@15cuhonda6 Only sheep here are you people.
Does he really need to be wearing a scarf across his face?
Why do you care
@@GolfnGamble So why did he have it completely off when he was talking face-to-face with the other official at 4:00?
@@LackedBetterName Because scarves are not the appropriate PPE for dealing with the COVID-19
@@tanner9072 better than nothing
@@LackedBetterName It's actually worse than nothing because it produces a finer-aerosol which can stay airborne for a lot longer. Leading to increased transmission rates of the virus
lol why cant the usga be this good
He wears a mask the whole time on the course then talks up close to a guy and takes his mask off 🤦🏼♂️
My thoughts also. Masks are a joke.
yeah, it shows how far gone the US is, that companies will help normalize spreading disease like that. And of course we have the pro-disease right-wing fascists in the youtube comments as well.
@@networkedperson if you're feeling sick sray home.
@@darrensmith9640 a real genius here
@@networkedperson not a genius, just common sense. Try using some.
Last time i checked the moist meter was on charlies stream but okay i guess
All this so some dudes can hit a little ball with a stick. I don’t get golf.
That's some cheap lawn care guys !
Amazing how much effort goes in to keeping that mask on his face 😂😷🤡

Florida is open, no commies in the government here.
@@diggermeddler1169 They're so close I thought we were going to see a big ol smooch!!
commies where I'm at keeping my daughter on a vent safe :)
So many resources go into maintaining a golf course.
It's such a huge waste.
Why does the game attract only a certain type of person?
They should have watered #17 on Thur and Fri. The balls were landing like a basketball course and bouncing off. The greens also looked shabby on #17. Lazy job .
Hello Mr. PGA!
Completely disregard all the great hard work they’ve done and call them lazy based on one thing that could’ve been better. One of the hardest parts of a green keeper’s job is the know-it-all golfers who constantly give them stick despite not knowing half as much about course maintenance.
I cant wait to meet this guy on my course
Turn the water on. Green greens play better than dead greens...and look better on TV also. Nobody cares what the scores are.
If nobody cares what the scores are then why do they need better greens...?
@@ColoroadoKid More fair and looks better on TV.
Wearing a mask outside lol. Thank God i live in FL
You're an idiot.
