I'll go first - Andy's Really Cool? ☺
No.. I just sound bad.. it's my signature sound :)
😂😂😂
Sounds like you're copying me..
Cease and desist!
U sure ur not using modular synths by accident?
Aw buddy! LOL!
I am a prior live audio engineer.
I used a different and most likely expensive tool.
An RTA is used with a high level of white noise in the hall.
Adjustments could go as flat as ever for the room..
I could adjust all frequencies on a 24db Eq.
I am so glad I don't do that kind of work anymore.
New studio is awesome dude! Well done 🤘🏻
Very cool Andy... I really must integrate this into my system! Resistance is futile!
This is is a very interesting use case. Live presets can be tuned to different speakers and use cases before being shared!
It took me 5 minutes to understand that this is a room correction for your monitors (wasn't aware of the plugin), the video title kind of made me think it was for your guitar cab or something. I have something similar for my AV setup with Dirac Live and it can really improve overal sound. Cool product.
Anyway, Nice studio. Looks cleaaaaaan.
Yo! Studio's looking great!!!!! 🤘🔥
Right! Soo cozy.
His monitor placement is truly impressive - its like he looked up the worst possible place to put them and thought that was perfection.
Entire reason he needs that box.
@@mycosysdefinitely not. I tried them in the next room and that sounded even worse!
@@TheGuitarGeek corners are the worst place you can put speakers.
My main system is literally in the middle of the room for free air.
My studio monitors are about 1.5m out from corners, with damping behind them.
This stuff should be in the manual for your monitors even
What a great way to keep using cheap monitors in a poorly setup room (a dig at my own & most peoples setup. Not Andy's). Also the Andy standing up angle is fun. No idea where Andy found a camera stand that was 7 & 3/4 feet high (just enough to get his height in shot) but it's fun.
Its great if you, like Andy, look up the worst possible place to put your monitors and go with it. I mean apart form being from IK
It's technically impossible for you to demonstrate your studio speakers through my wobbly office speakers. But you made a pretty convincing attempt, very nice work.
Hey Andy, thanks for the Video this was really mind-blowing. My next project is to build myself a low Budget Studio with used, repaired, not fancy Equipment. But I will surly integrate this great "Soundbooster". Best Regards Nik
Great video, Andy. Keep up the great work 😊
that's a great product, awesome new space Andy love it
Thanks Gary!
Nice demo of Andy's Room Control
Please list what speakers you are using... Thank you.
I am trying to use an ME 80 in to my powered stereo speakers and it is horrible, and also the output is not in balance at all. Was hoping it would work.
Signal path
PC 3.5mm into ME 80
3.5mm out to speaker
I have very high quality cabling, extremely high quality sound card, blah, blah blah, just sounds like trash.
great video! I noticed you have the MTM speakers as well. How does it compare to the MTM & ARC 3 calibration?
I’m going to find out soon!
@@TheGuitarGeek nice, thanks!
If you have the MTM speakers you essentially already have this.
very cool little device, just wondering how does it compare to the DSP calibration of your MTM speakers?
it's difficult to demonstrate the difference of room correction software or in this case hardware, it sounds however like it bumps the volume by quite a bit with correction on too
in any case correction makes a notable difference for more reliably being able to mix music/tones, I'm using EQ/plugin after measurement with REW software, works a treat but having this as a stand alone unit is a great idea
Hey paul! Just to answer one thing, it’s actually ever so slightly louder without the correction, with the correction I agree it seems louder but according to my level meters, it’s not. Weird right?!
@@TheGuitarGeek thanks, i guess it's probably due to the fuller/flatter frequencies in the mids after correction (ie. boosting up those dips between 180hz and 1k) that might explain it, the large bass build up probably wouldn't be picked up as much on the further mics
very cool product in any case
Seems like it could be cool for a home studio in a less than ideal room for those that don't want to go buy monitors with built in DSP and don't have the time or money to invest in gear for room measurements. I'm sure there are a portion of sound engineers, speaker manufacturers and more dedicated audiophiles who will scream at this concept, but the product isn't for them. I say a portion because there are also some professionals and enthusiasts who swear by this sort of thing, like Dutch & Dutch who have some very high end space correcting speakers as their primary offering. Whether it's game changing or not depends on the game you're playing, at what level, and what you want out of it. For some, it certainly will be.
So you need to have this device turned on every time? Kinda bad, sonarworks works better for that. Only software its better I think for a home studio
My next step after this is having a machine playing my guitar. I’ll resort to playing air guitar. I’m sure that will finally give me the sound I can be proud of.
Dude where are you? That studio looks so cozy.
Same room… new look!
Not sure how that's going to work in a live situation? Do I have to bring my computer, and do spectrum analysis before the gig?
no, you create your presets at home... get them right and then they will translate better to the live situation!
@@TheGuitarGeek How do you room correct a room you cant measure??
Andy just walked into frame.... I think that is the first time I've seen that!😂
correct! it is the first time... of many to come!
Best walk on since James Burke did his rocket launch.
21 points of reference! Nice.
Flatten the curve.
Also new studio set up. Oooh Matron.
☺️☺️☺️
Interesting. But couldn't you make the room sound better by just applying an EQ to reduce the unwanted bottom end?
Yes. But you wouldn’t be able to identify the problems with just an EQ.
The drums sounded like rock n roll part 1 and part 2 ?
I think maybe CZcams loss hinders the impact of the difference, but definitely more pronounced with the guitar.
“… but when you take that plug-in to a show, it sounds terrible” - I don’t get it. You’re surrounded by amps behind you. Just use plugins for recording and leave to computer home in the recording studio where it belongs when you play live.
If this kind of technology had been available when I started learning guitar, I wouldn't have started learning guitar. The Emperor is well and truly resplendent in his new suit, don't you think?
Why? What nonsense is this?
@@TheGuitarGeek Thanks Andy. I realise that my opinion might be unpopular, but can you take a step back from all this technology, and look at what we as musicians are trying to achieve? I do feel that young people just starting to learn guitar today might be put off, thinking that they have to know about the latest tech, when much of it is superfluous; and yes, as you correctly state, nonsense. When we get back to basics, lo and behold, we still make music just as well as when we immerse ourselves in technology.
NEW STUDIO WHO DIS??
I know right!!! 😃
Fletcher Munson in a box?
dude the problem with your sound in that room is you have your monitors in the WORST possible place. Literally you could not place them worse.
❤
Not to put to fine a point on it, my playing makes the guitar sound bad 🙄
2 minutes in, and I still don't know what it does.
Then watch a bit longer…
Sounds like snake 🐍 oil
Sounds like you didn’t watch the video and listen to the sound samples
Ur srsly promoting IK despite them being complete c#n7s who even charge you to sell your gear?
Theres so many better options than this crap, like hanging some heavy carpets. Or one of the many interfaces that has correction built in. Or one of the many amps that have room correction built in that go for 50 quid used.
Wow and it even adds volume to fool inexperienced ears
A sunburst Iceman? Have you no taste? It's horrible. The worst. :-) The other issue: use of ARC Studio proves in the first place that you have shitty sounding monitors. How about getting that right before operating on the symptoms?
