    Interesting. Thanks for the video and information
    I have a 1998 GLl1500. I don't ride as much now that I moved to Oahu. I miss those long road trips.

    Just installed the new Gen 2's and noticed the difference immediately! Less stress on the arms and shoulders. Had to readjust my back rest though, moved it back about an inch. I'm riding in a more upright position now and it feels great! I might send the seat to Wingsoft this winter and have it reworked by them. Gonna do the BB 1500 next week, I'll update if anything changes. Thanks for the info Max!!!

    I used 2 x 1.5" long hex nuts (you know like stretched regular hexagonal nuts) on the original fixings to push my backrest pad forward for my 5ft 8 inch frame. Amazing ergonomic improvement for pennies. You can cut the bolts to the length you need. Now I have the backrest pad sitting in the small of my back, and my pillion has more room too. Keep it simple guys: you can develop a biro where the ink flows in zero gravity, like NASA, or just take a pencil into space...

    • @billtaggart1267
      @billtaggart1267 Před rokem

      That story about the pen versus the pencil has been floating around for decades. What people always fail to mention is that the reason NASA didn't use a pencil is because the pencil shavings and graphite powder from sharpening the pencil in a zero-g, oxygen-rich environment posed a serious fire hazard and also just getting debris and crud in the electronics.

    I have this installed on my 2018 Tour and a couple of weeks ago after installing I rode round trip down to Woodstock GA from Central Illinois. These made a huge difference for me with very short arms. On the return trip I rode straight thru about 600mi in less than 9 hours pain free. This was a first for me pain free after riding 10K last year on this bike and having much pain across the neck and shoulder without this kit.
    Shout out to Max for doing this video, well explained and Max I wanted to ride by your shop but ran short of time I was down for the AFT short track race at Dixie Speedway.

    I had helibar risers on two ST300s. It was on a 2003 when I bought it and I loved it. On long trips it was easier to stay on the seat tank after tank. It’s not a huge adjustment from stock but they sure help
    Now I have a 2015 Goldwing and it fits me well as it comes factory

    Had the standard tour on my bike before the accident. Will definitely be adding them again once I get a replacement bike. I'm hoping I can get my handrails off the old bike because my wife loved them! Keep up the good work Max. Actually thinking of getting the bike down to you, or getting to an installer out this way to get the suspension done. Depends on how good the settlement is from the insurance!

      Max McAllister yes I was coming home from work last Thursday and had a guy pull out in front of me. I t-boned him, went flying over the handlebars. Flew about 50ft. Thankfully no broken bones just some road rash, sprained ankles and a ton of bruising.

    I never could figure out why they don't just put adjustable handlebar mounts on the bike from the factory...you should be able to rotate the bars, and move the tips forward and aft...

    Hi Max,
    I am a bit in line with your "total preference" wishfull thinking: a more "straight sensation" handgrip positioning (in fact, like stock on this 2018+), but also closer to the rider. I am aware of Helibars bringing out their adjustable Horizon product, but I am not overwhelmed by the esthetics so far. Thinking somewhat out of the box towards this "total preference" challenge, would following mounting approach be feasible : horizontally rotate the duo position risers with 180°, and exchange left with right. And then mount the bars on the sport position. Some drawbacks in this approach: that would 1) make it impossible to attach the cover again, at least using the standard bolt positions and 2) block access to the nuts of the tie-rods. But then again 1) we can do without cover and 2) tie-rod exchange is a 1-time activity when using your upgraded version ... I expect the handgrips to end up in quite an interesting position as compared to stock: a little wider, but not much; a little higher but not much; very little change in handgrip angle (still a little bit more angled backwards, but not much); and all that a few inches closer to the rider ...
    I have no 2018+ model yet, but did some test rides with it. 5 feet 10 with shorter arms.
    Riding a 2007 with a Helibars Horizon LST, and your magnificent "Traxx-Rite" triple clamps installed, 120k miles.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  Před 4 lety

      Cabling is the issue. The tiny amount of slack in the cable is removed when you install just the risers. If there was a way to use the stock bars and give them more adjustability, Helibar would have done it for sure. While people may not like the look of the round bar, the trade off for comfort is paramount over the life of the bike.

    • @hanspraet332
      @hanspraet332 Před 4 lety +1

      OK Max, appreciate your prompt response. I will perform the experiment myself later, when I have my 2018+. I do not think that reverse mounting (and left-right swapping) the risers will cause a problem on cable slack level - but possibly they will simply not bolt on properly. Agreed that the concept of the adjustable bar is superior as compared to the riser solution. The round bar is maybe not so elegant when compared to the stock bars, but in my view still somewhat acceptable. What I do not like at all is the in-your-face loose hanging cabling that goes with it : some kind of cover or clean guidance on that level would seriously improve the looks in my opinion. Maybe Harry is working on that already, who knows ... Looking forward to his upcoming detailed introduction video on those bars.

    • @hanspraet332
      @hanspraet332 Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Max. I checked the new video from Harry on the installation procedure for the adjustable Helibar product : it provided me a better viewing opportunity on the shape of the pseudo upper tripple clamp, and my conclusion is that this experiment with alternative mounting position of the Helibar risers would simply fail. You are right : a well suited handle bar / hand grip positioning is paramount for a good riding position, suitable for the intended riding activity (long distance traveling, or more sporty riding). So, indeed the new handlebar is the best solution for this. I will further check with Harry on a potential approach for cleaning up the kind of ugly looking loose cable loom situation with the new handlebar.

    Max, I wanna ask you something about Helibars. I installed them on my 2018 goldwing, they are extrmely comfortable, slow speed riding is easier. but the only concern in my mind is, the new angle of the handlebar effects the high speed cornering ability of the bike. after installation when i ride hard on twisties i felt a bit strange while leaning the bike into the curves. Is this kind of effect possible or is it just me ?

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  Před 5 lety +3

      It doesn't affect the actual handling of the bike, but since your hands are angled inward, you have less leverage compare the the "straight across" bars that came from Honda. Your bike is completely safe though.

    Max, it seems like it would push the bars farther away since the mounting holes are moved towards the front of the bike. How can that actually bring the bars 2" backwards if the mounting holes are forward of the OEM mounting holes? Am I missing something? I really need the 2" pull back.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  Před 4 lety

      It's because the new holes are angled backwards. They aren't in the same line as the original bars were.
