I'm back! I've touched on Game of Thrones before, but this time I felt like after the finale I had to give it at least one more shot. This song is a medley of various themes and motifs from the show (can you hear them all?) telling an epic tale of two queens. This should go without saying, but MAJOR SPOILERS ahead in both the lyrics and video!
Lyrics:
High in the crimson towers
Hate between a mother's eyes
Certain of a costly price
To pay when fire survives
When all she loved has left the keep
The rains above us gently weep
And wash away the blood as it goes cold
And so she spoke
And so she spoke
The lion of Castamere
When none remain
To mourn her reign
So proud yet founded upon fear
Gates swung open wide to wretches
Lowborn pay the price in blood
Placed upon the precipice
Of near rising flood
Terror in the hearts of children
Worried that the war's come home
As the sound of wildfire burning
Nears the lion's throne
Let it be fear she told them
Let it be fear they know
Let them become ashes now upon the fallen snow
Blind with the power and fury
Numb behind the dregs of wrath
Set to pay the costly price
And tread a father's path
When thousands battled in her name
She stormed the gates and showered flame
To break the wheel but then would forge her own
Let it be fear she told them
Let it be fear they know
Let them become ashes now upon the fallen snow
Burn them all down to embers
Servants and lords the same
Show them all fire and blood to win the mad queen's game
And with the swords lain down
They screamed 'til the bells cried out
In search of some mercy their hope became fear
Their hope became fear
And it fed her rage
Her lust for the lion's cage
She'll stand down for nothing
Until they all cheer, with no one left here
Castamere
Let it be, let it be fear
Castamere
Let it be, let it be fear - Hudba
I will never understand why Cersei thought it would be a good idea to purposefully antagonize an increasingly unstable Targaryen with a full grown flying nuke.
Bad writing.
@@kittierdelyi9083
How is it bad writing for a character shown to constantly make stupid decisions out of arrogance to make a stupid decision out of arrogance?
@@NivMizzet89 Yeah, last season was a bit rushed, but it made sense. Cersei always had an ego and anger problem and usually let that override her intelligence. Not to mention after the deaths of her sons she had little to hold her back, because when she was willing to swallow that down, it was solely for their sake.
One that gets me is why everyone is shocked by what Daenerys did saying it was out of character. Like...did they watch the same show I did? She'd always been nuts and excessively violent against her enemies. Just up to that point it had been against people we liked seeing it happen to. Only thing that held her back was her inner circle, who at that point were all dead, gone, or sharing her need for revenge. She'd been unstable for a LONG time and had then completely lost her support network that balanced her out. Out of character?? Frankly I am surprised she hesitated...
@@baileyface54 All true statements, but that doesn’t mean it was intentional. It wouldn’t surprise me if the decent writing complexities you found were simply coincidental parts of writing that worked out well despite being rushed plot points.
@@baileyface54 All true, Cersei made bad decisions all over that backfired on her, she did nothing out of character and same for Daenerys, she spoke of burning her enemies and their cities to the ground from the beginning. I guess only thing that held her back was the conflict of the talk of "the wiser men" vs everything she lost because he listened to those "wiser men".
Last season lacked cos the usual depth was missing, conversations and character development all we got were the results, it was like "just take this and that"
Breathtaking! This song feels like a love letter to Ramin Djawadi and all the incredible themes he has written for this show: From the Rains of Castamere in the choruses, to The Light of the Seven and The Night King and Daenerys' theme in the climax of the song, you have perfectly captured the colossal scale and magic of Game of Thrones.
And I hope that no matter what people might think about the episode this song is named after (or the entire final season in general), we can at least agree that this song is an incredible tribute to one of the most epic achievements in television history.
Thank you! I'm glad you thought it was a fitting homage to the original compositions. Seeing him perform last year is an unforgettable experience and his music has inspired me in a profound way. I could only ever hope to pay tribute to his mastery, let alone live up to it.
@@SoundOfTheAviators meh, not really into Thrones, more of a Sci-Fi guy myself but you and Gavin kicked ass over on his channel with A Thousand Eyes
No! Your breathtaking!!!
Great song to the worst season of TV series ever. Such a shame... Still brilliant song. :)
@@essex3777 Same. I like _some_ Fantasy series (like Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters:Tales of Arcadia series and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power), but other than that, I'm more into Sci-Fi shows like Voltron:Legendary Defender and stuff. :P.
Goddamn. Getting back to this song, just wow. Even though I hate the ending, and the “mad queen Dany in one day” fills me with rage, this song is more than stunning, amazing, and all the other words I have to express the greatness of this song. Well done.
Forevermore she will be known as One Day Dany
"Let them becomes ashes now upon the fallen snow"
I came across this comment as soon as that line played XD
@@strawberryvixen4269 it was meant to be
This is a better finale than the show got.
But to be fair...
It's pretty hard to out do Aviators.
And pretty hard not to outdo the show finale
Got that right!
@@Frauger Eh, I was massively disappointing in the shows final. The series was a masterpiece, season 6 and 7 were not masterpieces but were pretty great, then season 8 was just good. For a tv show it was good. not amazing, just good. Which too everyone who was watching this masterpiece of a series it was a major let down.
They definitely shouldn't be getting rewards for best writing (like Dumb and Dumber want) but the show still managed to do pretty good despite the downturn in.... everything..... fuck. I'm defending the show but I'm still heartbroken over it.
And pretty easy to outdo the show...
The final is perfect, dumb haters.
Let it be fear. Sends chills down my spine.
I’ve never watched GoT, but after hearing the first few seconds I can tell this song is gonna be amazing.
Same here my dude. I dont understand why I'm not interested in GoT, but who cares? The song is amazing, that's what is important.
Same
Don't watch game of thrones I loved that show had it all over my wall told everybody to watch it. Now I tell people not to. It's so bad.
@@baronvonjo1929 the ENDING is bad. Now you are obligated to say "stop at season 6 or 7 whatever you prefer, then take your pick of the thousands of amazing fan theories that trump D&D fifty fold, and make THAT your headcanon. Oh but look up CleganeBowl, that's worth watching" lol
It was an amazing incredible series that two inept greedy fantasy hating wanks ruined so they could go do Star Wars
And so she spoooooooooooooke.
*I'm in love. I never get sick of your voice and your songs.*
Same here!
I have never seen GoT, and I likely will never see GoT. But this song is already one of my favorites from you, Avi. Regardless of the fandom it's from, I don't think I've ever disliked a song from you.
Same here!
Everyone writes about Rains of Castamere, and sure, it's great, but The Light of the Seven gave me such a shivers up my spine! It's so divinely emotional! Just F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C work as always, keep it up!
This is fantastic, your best Game of Thrones song yet, love the callback to Lowborn and Blood and Snow 💜
Singing along with the instruments is something you need to do more of!
Jesus. This single song is better than the entirety of the last few seasons. Well done!
Victor Snow ouch. That probably hurts. But it is true.
@@vanukas8783 Truth always hurts.
MrJ0ntsa truth that I, in fact, have never killed any human being doesn't hurt, does it?
Tohtori Vanukas ok liar.
Rj Kudwa ok yes I have killed many and detonated a few babies!
My Lord! What a masterpiece! I got goosebumps. I'm so blindly in love with Daenerys character. She's a kind-hearted queen, but they broke her heart, they humiliated her, they took her for nothing, she was made fun of and challenged so many times and she showed them a dragon in the end. Such a tragic hero!
P.S. Watching Cercei in fear is such a satisfaction!
I feel you and I think the same. And for me sad is that after all Daenerys became misunderstood and she's getting all flame from people who are watching the show ;/
This guy is incapable of making bad music.
How do I like a comment twice
Lemon Square ive been trying to figure out how to like things twice ever since i started listening to aviators
You make a second account
If only the writers of the show shared this talent but instead of music it was episodes.
I completely agree! I also like it very much!
Outstanding instrumentals and vocal performance as usual
So happy for another new song
never even seen Game of Thrones but this is powerful, that's when you know you've made an amazing song.
This is absolutely brilliant! I always die when I hear bells used in songs, they just touch the soul. I adore how emotional this song is. The chords progression is reminiscent of war and the negative emotions that come with it. You can clearly hear all of these emotions in this song, such as fear and depression from loss. Excellent job as always Avi!
I just love this. I feel like it really suits the character's rise and fall.
The music was really expertly constructed and the singing was on point!
This is completely breathtaking. I've been following your work since 2012 and I can almost say that this is probably your best track so far. The instumental, vocals and lyrics are incredible. This is the kind of song that stays in your head but not in an annoying way.
I started listening to your music when I was just a little girl, around 11/12, and your music has evoluated from pony songs to very mature and powerful tracks while I was slowly becoming an adult. I think that your work helped me to develop self-confidence, especially your vilains / sad / ambiguous songs, and that's why they're the best in my opinion. Still looking forward to seeing what you're gonna bring to all of us in the next years :)
They do make great music regardless of the shows. I keep listening to No can save you Now when im playing Skyrim. Also love your pic, who did the art for it?
At first I thought that this was the greatest Game of Thrones song ever...but after listening to it again...
I now think that it's simply the best song ever made.
Continue making this amazing music...you're the best man!!
@Boris Cimprič yeah I know I already know them
Two new Aviator songs in 2 days. It's basically Christmas :D
From listening to "A Song That Never Ends" to this. Totally worth it! (I guess the song _did_ end).
This song is fantastic! I love the somber tone it has, reminds me of "When Our Bodies Wash Ashore" and "Remains".
Album or song?
@@user-cs8pb5mi7n The song
I've listened to a LOT of Game of Thrones songs by a lot of artists, but this I think is the first I've heard that manages to get across both the grandeur of this series along with its sorrow; there's so much that goes wrong in this series due to simple human error and fallible human nature, and even two women who hold the world in their hands are no strangers to the iron grip of who they are. You did this series justice, my good man, and I thank you for it. Valar Morghulis
Best thing to come out of the final season, the music and fan made content on CZcams.
I do not know what to say. Every day you grow up as a musician. This song is proof of that. It is just breathtaking, especially the ending. (Very strong reverb with a delay is a great combination.) I just say one thing - I adore you. Stay always like this, let fear be here, I don't care if you are near.
This is perfection. Now I definitely need a "Rains of Castamere" cover from you, 'cause those parts gave me chills here...
At least the episode brought upon us one epic thing. Great work!
Great song, also nice touch with the "Rains of Castamere" in there.
Best of luck with the next song :-)
Another breathtaking song - I heard references to "The Rains of Castamere", "Light of the Seven", as well as some callbacks to "Blood and Snow" and "Lowborn". My love for Ramin Djawadi's music only grew through the years, and you have created an amazing tribute that encapsulates all of the feelings I had when watching (and listening to) the show and the music. Definitely looking forward to whatever's next. Also, I think you should do a cover of "Rains of Castamere" - your voice sounded amazing during the chorus/bridge, and I think it would fit it well.
First "A Thousand Eyes" with Miracle of Sound and now this. I don't know what I should put on repeat now xD. Great as always! Definitly love the "Rains of Castamere" vibe.
To me personally, A Thousand Eyes.
Create a playlist and listen to both of them.
Exactly my problem right now, lol
@@nataliasilenska4661 You could always just listen to both at the same time lol
My gods, this song is gorgeous!
I especially like the way the theme from the official soundtrack for the series is sung at 3:20 - how the Queen Mother theme from "Light of the Seven" is conveyed by voice. Organ melody perfectly complements the voice.
Great job!
The bits of pieces taken from the Rains of Castermere are subtle enough to not be obvious but still extremely well put into the song.
This is probably the best thing that happened to internet. Like ever.
The Mad Queen gives way to the Queen of Ashes
I really like how this song references "Rains of Castamere", however, I am a bit unsure about how I feel about the line "The Lion of Castamere". As I understand it "The Lion" refers to Cersei which I find a bit odd given that she is not of Castamere which was home to a house that served under the Lanisters.
I really like the song, just found this line a bit weird lorewise.
I think it makes sense if it's taken more like an in universe metaphor, if I remember right House Reyne fell due to their own arrogance, thinking that they were as much a lion as those of House Lanister. Castamere could be taken as a place of pride, a place of arrogance, a place of glory that will inevitably fall.
By calling Cersei the "Lion of Castamere", she's being likened to those of House Reyne, someone prideful and arrogant, thinking their claws are as long and sharp as their enemies.
That's what I think at least, sorry if I didn't word or explain it the best.
No need to apologise. I think that was well worded, I at least understand what you mean. And I agree with you that in that context the line makes sense.
However, I must admit that the line still bothers me, not as much as before though. I have a hard time not hearing it as "The lion who came from Castamere" because the original line "The Lord of Castamere" is to be taken literally. That is not to say that the line is to be taken literally, I believe that Aviators intended for it to be taken like you said, as a metaphor, because the line is factually incorrect if taken literally.
I find it close to brilliant that Aviators has reversed the song on those who used it to mock their foes. But I wish he would have said something else here. When he sings "And so she spoke, and so she spoke" and the melody becomes more akin to "Rains of Castamere" I believe most fans would recognise the reference and thus the mention of Castamere itself, can becomes redundant for some. At least in my case. There are many things in this song I like, including the reference to "Rains of Castamere" but I would have preferred a less direct reference without the mention of Castamere itself. Especially at the end where he sings "Castamere" in the background. My main problem might be that I am linking the two songs together because he references it. For example I just noticed, at least as far as I can tell, that before singing "and so she spoke" Aviators has not sung anything in the role of Cersei but has described the situation. But given that it is a reference to signal how the Lanisters is about to suffer the same fate as House Reyne, comming undone by their pride and arrogance, it is not a problem that he does not take on the role as Cersei and speaks because he uses the words "And so she spoke" to create a certain effect on the audience. I still find it a bit annoying because I have a hard time not taking it literally and it throws me off a bit, but hey we cant all praise Aviators to death even though he makes some damn good music IMO.
I am not a musician and I know nothing of it in regards to composing songs and music hence I cannot offer an alternative and even if I could I am not sure I would as this is very subjective.
I hope I haven't come off as someone trying to impose my view on the song or condescending. I do not usually partake in discussions or conversations in comment sections so I wanted to, for once, give my opinion on the matter. Thanks for your comment :)
@@kentate94 You haven't come off as imposing or condescending at all, I totally get where you're coming from. I took it fairly literally the first time I heard it to, I just tend to be that person that analyzes almost everything. I just thought it would be a fair thing to mention.
Thank you for the discussion! You'd better have something for us to debate in Aviator's next song ;)
Thanks, I found it rather enjoyable :) I will see if I can find anything then, depends on the subject of the song but thanks for the encouragement!

I love it! This song is so atmospheric and so powerful. It blends so well! It's such an incredible song.
Awesome! Love the "Rains of Castamere" bits you added in there... This was amazing! :)
This was one of the first songs I ever saw from you, I had randomly clicked on it a year back, and listening to it today it's still so good. I love it wholeheartedly, and not going to lie it still makes me tear up to this day listening to it.
This song feels like it could be like, put into the show. As a bard's retelling of the story, it's great. 100/10!
Amazing job! Sounds awesome!
Happy GITC day and to celebrate it with this phat and beautiful piece
Absolutely bloody awesome, pure goosebump-fuel, 'nuff said.

'The Dark Lord of the Sith'
'So none remain to mourn his reign'
'So Proud, he found it upon on Fear'

@Uncle Crispy Dany's and the twins lannister's final arc was really bad :/ Dany the mad queen while she's a Dark queen insteed is good ??? Cersei with a pitiful death is good really ???
@Uncle Crispy I totally agree with the fact that it was rushed but I remain convinced that making her a mad queen was a bad idea. She’s a dark queen, dark, tortured, ruthless but just. See her destroy Cersei and establish a dictatorship yes, see her massacre innocent no. Then it remains my opinion and I understand yours.

The three best things to come out of Season 8 of Game of Thrones:
1) Some *_fantastic_* shots and music. Writing may have been awful, but the technical aspects of the show (Starkbucks* cup aside) were always top tier.
2) The sheer output of creativity we've seen from fans in the years since, 99.9% of them (just in case) not interested in continuing the story, but instead, desperate to _rewrite_ the ending and/or give it some sense. And some of them have written some great works.
3) This song. Jesus Christ, this bloody song. It just... it _almost_ makes the ending worthwhile. Like, I can actually live with that ending, if only because I have this song to listen to.
