I love how Crockett and Ethan went from punching each other to being supportive brothers. We love to see character growth.
Agreed. Crockett was not likeable, but they changed his character for the better. I hope he doesn’t start a romance with that Sr Doctor. I know he went out with her daughter, but I could see them going the messy route. I hope that doesn’t happen
@@ms.t3039 What about him and Vanessa? I didn't like that woman doctor either especially when she got mad at him for not staying for that night cap he had to get up the early the next day for work why couldn't she understand that? Anyway I wanted Will with his friend that he knew in doctor school instead of that other lady that he talk to in the cafeteria in Chicago Med, no Marcel wasn't likeable especially what he did to messup Ethan and April's romantic relationship between them. But he’s charrecter matured some especially when he was with Natalie.
Like Casey and Severide 😀🤣
Exactly my thinking 😂
they're such a great duo
Woah, the emotion in his face. What an amazing scene
Yes it was
He is such an amazing actor, that's why he's my fave
yes it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read amazing as amusing and was a it confused
Very true. That was a very powerful portrayal by Mr. Tee.
Dr. Choi was being a military man at the moment of emense pain...trying to hold it in rather than screaming out in agony.
Yes fr fr
Just goes to show the fragility of a back injury- as I watched this now twice I had no idea the position Ethan was in would do so much harm- I couldn't see the strain his back would be under because I was too busy writhing in sympathetic pain with that hernia guy...
literally
@random observer i remember my father dealing with a hernia in his groin area, he had x-rays, MRI's, all kinds of scans done, finally his doctor made the appointment for him to get it surgically removed, he was bed ridden for close to 5 weeks, but he was receiving workman's compensation and at first his boss wasn't going to give it to him until my mother called our attorney at the time and called my dad's boss the next day my dad's workman's compensation check was in the mail.
I have a bad back. I once threw it out turning a screwdriver to tighten a screw on a dryer door
Oh brother, when you hurt your back, ESPECIALLY your lower back, its all over.
Even if its not SERIOUS, the pain just disables you.
It freakin sucks.
And then it never goes back 100%
Theres always that very real chance it gets hurt again. Every time.
When I fractured my spine, going up a flight of stairs or sitting in a chair wasn’t the worst. The thing that hurt like I was being stabbed was…buckling my belt.
Crockett knowing immediately something was wrong... And choi being open with him is so so pure
CRYING
Please tell me what happened with the patient and Dr Choi 🙏🙏
I felt sick when he made the face and said he needs an mri. Back pain and injuries are so bad.
I know how he feels. I broke my back just over 15 months ago worse pain ever
Yup scary ain't no joke any injuries that need MRI or CT never know what results will be
Oh yeah back pain is the worst when I was about 15 I almost broke my back picking up my father not because he was heavy but because I start experiencing intense growing pains and my back started to spasm a moment I picked them up and I collapsed it almost had to go to the hospital
Being an LVT (licensed veterinary technician) I’ve had 3 lumbar strains in the last 6 years and when I saw Dr. Choi’s face showed the pain… I felt that 😩
I'm in the same boat. LVT of six years at the time, and a back injury put me off the floor three years ago. When he turned around, I could see it in his face. I felt that. Medicine is a hard job, emotionally and physically.
I felt it too. Been having a lot of back pain/spasms recently. I'll be walking and suddenly have to stop. I get that same look.
Brian Tee is an amazing actor😱 He really is.
I recognised him from playing the villain in fast and furious : Tokyo Drift
He was brilliant back then as well
@@shreyasrao6515 lol DK😁😁
@@shreyasrao6515 he was also in zoey 101
My Brian Tee crush is alive and well
Poor Choi the look on his face and glad to see Choi and marcel r helping each other
I’ve felt that pain. Brian Tee did a unbelievable job of acting and showing what excruciating pain he was in.
I love how Choi said when he was in pain I need a mri
@@soph301 ok. But no one asked and maybe u should keep ur personal medical stuff to yourself
Ok. But u know this is fictional otherwise known as the people in it are actors but u still should keep ur personal medical stuff to ur self
Ok Sophie Jacobsen
I love the part of Ethan hold Marcus hand that melted in my heart that is the know reason why I love that sense soooooooo much. Doctor Choi made a good division because he save Marcus life great work.
the pain in his face…
Ikr,..
I myself in real life had a back surgery so I can understand the pain just from acting but I hope he comes back better
Great acting! His neck muscles made you think pain.
Nah, they made made you almost feel pain.
The way Ethan diagnosed himself with what he needs medically at the end lmao
Something a cousin who was special ops told me. When you see pain on the face of someone who has a high pain tolerance or trained to withstand pain you know they are in major pain and something is wrong' or something along that lines.
LOL i know plenty of people not special ops who have high levels of pain tolerance while I also know many in the military including a couple spec ops who don't. One special ops buddy I know when to high school with & is a Airbourne Ranger faints if he gets a paper cut & it bleeds. Not related to pain tolerance but shows that people need to stop trying to think that someone in the military or a first responder or even Special Ops are indestructible machines that can never be hurt or feel pain or anything. Their still human.
@@craighanson-rc1md Very true. Everyone no matter how strong they are have a different type of pain tolerance. My special ops cousin who told me about the pain tolerance does in fact have an issue with pain when it comes to his brothers when they rough housed when they were younger and then all went into differnt branches of the milltary. He said that there was always something about the punches and slaps they all did to each other the brought them all to their knees. That and their mama's wooden canoe paddle on their behinds.
I really hope Marcel is the one who brings down Archer, he’s bad news
YEP
Ethan never should have hired him in the first place because the red flags were there
Jay Ray yea but ig he was tryna be nice idk
Love archer! He makes it so good!
You think!? He was badnews from the start.
Wish they'd back it up a minute before he went in. The range of emotions. Greatly acted scene 😢
I hope dr choi doesn’t leave the show at the end of the season because of this
he won't! he'll make an appearence in the 12th episode and he'll be back in the 18th.
man hes such a good actor
I seen the pain in their eyes looking at one another glad they talking and helping one another😊😊❤i love them all and miss those who left😊😊
Great episode and the acting was at premium level -- as per usual.✊👑💣🔥
1. Most doctors I know would not try this more than once before throwing their arms up and saying surgery is needed. Honestly I didnt know it was possible to fix a hernia this way until this video most go right to surgery (unless you’re overweight then it’s lose weight ASAP but eventually surgery)
2. The whole episode is on Hulu right now so I just watched it in it’s entirety. I suggest everyone watch it to get the context of why Choi fought so hard to keep this patient out of surgery but without spoiling anything, this patient had extenuating circumstances that made surgery particularly problematic.
3. I wish more doctors (especially ER doctors) would apply such a level of discretion to each individual patient and not just follow paperwork/checklists but would instead see individual nuanced human beings with their own obligations and responsibilities that they cannot ignore even when it comes to their healthcare decisions.
In my experience too many doctors push the “put yourself first so you can take care of others after” argument. And it’s a fair argument. But it’s also dismissive. Doctors don’t just do that without hesitation, it’s not fair to ask patients to.
There is a reason for paperwork, checklists and procedures. For every doctor you see that breaks protocol with a good outcome, there are 10 more who break protocol and cause far greater harm to either themselves or the patient.
@@jordanwardle11 its not about breaking protocol its about treating patients as individual patients with unique circumstances not a Medical Issue Robot you going through the checklist with.
Are you doctor ?
@jordanwardle11 I am agree
I did not watch the episode.. but as a doctor I want to clarify something. Hernias have many types and different conditions. Here is a type of hernia that is repaired manually, like Dr. Choi, and here are types that cannot be repaired except by surgery, and they are irreversible.. The matter is It does not depend on trying once or twice to fix it manually.. it has been in a hernia condition from the beginning.. and surgery is necessary..
choi has gotta be my fave
Dr Choi in the fast and furious movie is the bad guy.
At Chicago Med became a doctor.
I like her acting as a doctor at Chicago Med.
Keep being a good person.
oh my god anyone with a lumbar/back injury knows this HORRIFIC pain
I love Chicago med it’s my favourite show
I hope they do a time jump for the mid season finale or premiere, this way Ethan will be back permanently and not leave the show
I was literally thinking the same thing earlier today!
I agree, that would be nice.
@@Alice_Quach FIRE did it so why not MED
We need doctor Choi. It wouldn’t be the same without him
@@soph301 Wait...so choi is leaving the show?
Ethan looks empty. He better come back with April next time he shows up😶 great scene💯
Anything but seeing him ill or on need of recovery. He's already played that broken man on season 1.
Now he's gotta have some happiness please
We're ready to see him grow.
I mean I don’t think he looks empty he’s just been through a lot in a very short amount of time. My man needed a good therapist while he was on medical leave and probably didn’t
@@QuothTheRavenNevermore27 and how happy are we to see him marrying April 😃😃😃
Dr. Choi can't seem to catch a break
The way his face changed😢
oh man one time i tore a back muscle and it was the first and only time i have ever screamed in pain. insane. I didn't know back injuries could be so bad, and I had all kinds of them before! It was a rough couple weeks of recovery, too... Damn I wouldn't wish it on anybody
I think I got sympathy back pain from watching this. Geez.
since day one I knew Dr. Archer hated Ethan and was jealous of him this was all his plan to keep him away 😡😡🤬
that certainly makes sense
I think that is not the case. Ethan is Archer's weak point and out if everyone Ethan is the only one he seems to care about. Ethan is far too determined and can be stubborn to a fault when it comes to pushing himself. Archer clearly gave Ethan more chances out if guilt and respect for his friendship with Ethan than malice. I still remember his reaction when Ethan was shot it was out of great concern
Just like will halstead
NO CHOI JUST CAME BACKK
Croket lo adoro es genial y Choi lo maximo
Too bad what a shame
Poor doctor chori
I knew this was going to happen to Ethan he came back to soon Marcel tried to warn him. But no he wouldn't listen if April was there she would have flipped at him. I also knew about Vanessa when she alone with Maggie why didn't she just call her mom I mean that is her mother right?
I think she doesn't want the whole ED knowing that's her mom
Vanessa doesn’t want anyone to know, well Sharon and Daniel know. But they kept their mouth sealed
@@warh1story563 Vanessa believes her biological mother didn't wanted her that why she went into adoption department and got good adoption parents.
Maggie need to tell whole truth story to Vanessa why give her up..
@@catrachaV4 I understand but they were by themselves in alone room where noone was there, who else in that room are going to know that they're related in that room the skeleton?
@@warh1story563 but they were by themselves in that room alone.
My dad had to retire as a diesel mechanic do to a back injury, and his back hasn’t been the same since, it was icy right outside the big doors and when it wasn’t snowing they opened them for obv reason, my dad ended up slipping on ice (being a night shift mechanic didn’t help especially when the parking lot wasn’t fully lit up with lights, he fell right on his back and it hasn’t been the same since he has good and bad days cause of it, on bad days he is hunched over cause of the pain, I hate seeing that so he definitely knows how Ethan feels xD
I had back pains before and they were very painful for me and I still do get back pains to this day on but comparing them to Ethan’s are a lot different to mine
It isn’t real
@@r6zelq161 It is real for the character.
@@r6zelq161 Everyone knows it's not real. We don't need you to act like you're revealing some secret to us
Glad him and Crocket became back friends 😊❤
Its so not like archer to not be hesitant... Never liked him!! Hes a terrible ED lead! Loved the compassion there that Marcel had for ethan!!
Come on I hope Ethan come back form another rehab
Is anyone else thinking that Archer made Ethan hurt himself so he can stay the head of the ER????🤔🤔
YES! I was suprised when Crockett didn't accuse him
@@niki6396 Righttttt!!!!
Absolutely!!!! I know he did. He's a snake.
Not even Archer would do that he is scummy but he truly does care about Ethan. He felt immense regret about getting Ethan shot and was the most concerned about him besides April
@@niki6396 he kinda blamed him when Ethan was getting the mri he said he should know when to tell his doctors to take it easy
This makes absolutely no sense, at all… but it was f*cking amazing 🤩
Archer is getting his way. For now.

when drift king becomes doctor king
This is the fourth time today I've seen Ethan either injure himself or almost die. How many freaking times does he almost die on this show😂
Why was he crying when he said I’m gonna need an MRI
Hi I love you when you are is Canada how it feels but keep going❤❤❤❤
Shem,he tried to be strong
Chicago med,pd, and fire is all connected
The amount of times Choi got hurt
The look of Crockett 0:04 and the look of Archer 0:20😱😱😱😱
Why couldnt he have gotten someone else to perform the maneuver? Why risk that much for something someone else could have done without injury????
Marcel brings down archer
How did Choi get the back brace and injury was it off the shoooting? Only got acces to end of season 4
Ethan doesn't pass the tubing exam while Archer is there, but on a real patient he did it just fine. And now Archer backs up all those high risks decisions
Seemed like he was expecting things to go wrong and that would make it so Ethan would step away, he probably didn't expect Ethan to get hurt but he also didn't do anything to stop him even though he was literally right next to him
By the way he was shot in a couple episodes back and he got shot in the chest area and he needed the brace to help it help and he took it off and then it hurt his back bad and he needed a MRI so that is basically what happened and the season it is on is 7 and the episode is either 7 or 8 I think it is more 8 it took me a while to figure out what season and episode it was. I ❤ this scene is one of my favorites.
Tha'ts the clip?? Wow SHOW US MORE

Can someone please tell me what season and episode this is?
What exactly HAPPENED to Choi here??? How did he injure himself???
He got shot I believe
From what I remember, Choi had a GSW but luckily it was better then Doctor Charles (I think)
Possible Spoiler:
At the end of season 6, there was a returning patient who was in a previous episode called "take a red pill blue pill" and there was a guy who thought he was living in the matrix. Dr Archer gave him appendix surgery without the patient's consent because he snowed him with pain medication. So the patient comes back at the end of season 6 with a gun, and Dr. Archer and Dr. Choi are in the parking lot...... Dr. Choi ends up getting shot by that patient, and the patient also gets semi hurt as well, but he ends up going to prison shortly after being treated at Med. However Dr. Choi was out of work and had to go a major back surgery, then he come back and then this happens where he strained the back or twisted something wrong, I'm not for sure but he had to get another surgery and he would be off for another several months. He does come back towards end of season 7 but does make a few appearances in mid-season 7 because his dad does pass away.
Does anyone know how it turned out with Dr Choi?
Oh come on he can’t leave again he just came back 😩😞
he'll make an appearence in the 12th episode and he'll be back in the 18th but:,(
