The opportunity to link Archaeology to old (and I mean OLD) Warcraft lore is so ripe for the picking, I really wish they could do something there. Like imagine you dig up an old stonemason's hammer, and it could lead you into learning about the history of the construction of Stormwind. If time wasn't a factor in development, maybe even bring scenarios back for it through the Bronze dragonflight time magic.
This profession just makes my mind go wild with ideas
Love this idea!! there are so many events through out the history of warcraft we could explore id love to see the destruction of arthas destroying lorderon or go back and see the fall of the black empire
This is brilliant. Just copy/paste from ESO. Loved it.
I've always wished scenarios were better used for this... It could be tied to chromie/archeology. It would be great for new players to catch up on real stories in azeroth and level at the same time... They'd need to balance the pacing vs xp though otherwise people just Google the fastest route. You could tie some transmogs, pets, and mounts to it for people who want to play it, but don't want to level new characters.
They could easily. Do the style of the Legacy videos and Legion videos...30 minute adventure of lore and just going around digging up artifacts and learning piece by piece in these fantastic videos of 3-5 minutues.
You mean the lore they retconed thousand of times and managed to literally destroy in Shadowlands? Ah...
Archaeology is my FAVOURITE profession in wow, I hope they update it!
Why? It's bloody awful
Are you kidding ? It is dog shit, it was dog shit the day it came out
@@Aaron-zl5gq but all wow professions were always dogshit though. they all boiled down to following a checklist and pressing the "craft" button.
I know right, the little lore bits and fun story's they sprinkled in it really made it a blast, and you could get some half decent items from it as well
Easiest change they could do that would have players flooding in to play is remove weekly lockout from legacy raids and dungeons so you can run for cosmetics.
Have to remove mount drops if you do that
Archaeology should be a way to play the game, not a half arsed profession they usually ignore. Way more fun and relevant to the world that pet battles for example.
I agree a whole ass class for it
@@S1ick865 an archeology class would never work. They wouldn't do anything useful in PvE or PvP, so what's the point?
The problem with archeology there needs to be a good writing team.
I leveled up a rogue to 120 exclusively with Archaeology back in BfA. Big mistake.
To be fair, some of us are STILL trying to catch up on (mainly Tol'Vir) rares.
That would be nice, some of the things found back in the original Archaeology was pretty cool, I enjoyed it.
One thing I hate about the storytelling in Wow is that Danuser somehow thinks it's ok to make canon lore dumps in interviews without every telling/showing the player that in-game
Idea, tie archeology to learning languages so you can talk to the alliance as a horde player.
Amazing
Geniusssssss
Really no reason to keep the two sides from communication anymore it wouldn't be anymore toxic then overwatch.
@@xenodraigshrike5052 or just generally communicating with your own faction lol
You can already do this, in the new dalaran basement you can find elixir of toughs and it lets you understand the other faction is saying
I loved the garrison need to to expand on that with player housing and a place where you can see your alts as a npc walking around and maybe change what they are wearing just a thought I'm high.
,,change what they are wearing'' aka log onto the character and transmog?
My husband and I were talking about this the other day. Garrisons could have easily been built onto with each expansion. I like the idea of your alts walking around too!
10:30 I don't want the Titans putting chemicals in the water that turn the freaking Dragons into Titan Puppets!

with the addition of a profession tool slot, my main can now breath underwater due to the tuskar rep fishing pole. Neat perk.
8:12 This is how it should always be! One of the absolute worst things for WoW's story in the entire recent history of WoW has been the community figuring out what's coming months and years in advance. It completely kills any element of surprise and hype.
Like with Anduin gone, imagine he randomly shows up for some heroic moment in a cinematic in a year or two. That'd be sick. Show some growth with him that's unknown until he's actually shown in the live game. But instead, with how it has been, the entire big, mysterious time he's spent away would've been discovered and circulated throughout the community years in advance. The cinematics are still always neat to see, but imagine if they weren't completely screwed over by the data mining.
With Anduin missing. It could be a great set-up to lead us into another faction/location reveal. Say re-appeared with a whole fleet of pirates in tow. He was on his own adventure, made new friends and enemies who didn't know he was the king of Stormwind. This would age anduin, give him a beard, a few scars and a whole new badass look with new character history, design and building.
It doesn't have to be pirates, it could be a clan of spies from an Arabian landscape or Samurai from a Japanese centric expac.
The cinematics are complete dog shit what are you talking about. Blizzard should be ashamed
@@johncampbell9107 The in-game style cinematics are, yea, they're horrendous. I meant a more official style cinematic
@@aishaboy Sounds a lot like Varian's adventure in recovering his memory, I dig it.
@@jarofpickles4057 you mean the dragonflight cinematic? Yeah it "looked" nice but god damn it almost put me to sleep. Remember when their cinematics would give you chills? What exactly about that cinematic was awesome? Some stone guy takes a nap. Climbs a tower and falls and in swoops a dragon to catch him. It was awful. I literally felt nothing
Bring back Brawler's Guild.
I honestly don’t understand the logic behind removing content like this and mage tower. Make new rewards and challenges. Make it seasonal. $64B no excuse (other than the 64B might fall through)

I have always felt that Blizzard's handling of the game has been like having a DeLorean only to use it to go 20 minutes into the past.
Hope blizzard managed to make a fun experience worth playing. Best of luck 🤞
Wow has been centred around instanced content and Archaeology is a perfect example of a form of non-instance content that we like to do out in the wow world.
I think that point at the end was important for making WoWs story telling come across better for people. If they really want to push towards more character and central story driven narrative, they need to alter how they tell that story. I ended up only bothering to watch the cinematics on youtube along with lore speculation from people like Nobel or you Bell because it's a much better story experience than all the noise and random story points you try and piece together in game.
FFXIV's cast cutscenes let exposition happen in game through characters as they develop. WoW has struggled with exposition, often relying on books and other out-of-game media.
Whenever we start to talk about cosmic forces in WoW I want to put a gun barrel in my mouth, the game never should have gone in that direction.
If they give Malfurion the "Slyvanas treatment" and leave him in the Shadowlands, but he's technically ALIVE still-- then I'd be OKAY with that. As long as they do it well, him taking Ysera's place could end up being a pretty emotional moment. I'd only hope Malfurion would return again to Azeroth one day like Sylvanas of course.
Sylvanas can fuck off and never return to Azeroth.
Hope arch gets fun and more than a basic gathering prof!
As for the Death lore etc... it's just that they don't put enough in to make us connect enough dots, on a character- and world-building level. I don't get invested enough by a couple of characters speaking only exposition lines to one another like they so often did here, even if ignoring all the stuff in the books. Tyrande is one of my favourite characters and I feel like not only was she a vessel of Elune, she was a vessel of story exposition and you just don't feel like you're there with Tyrande the person as much. Same with Jaina... one of the character's closest npc friends by now, but she just has no personality except to respond to lore revelations or story beats. They just need to find a way to make it feel more real, and not most everything moving from a to b as quickly as possible each time. I get they don't want that but it's how it ends up feeling for me.
I do think encryption is a very good step, since one of the problems is the fragmented datamining that is almost impossible to dodge if you are around wow communities.
In retconlands a lot of characters felt like stereotypes rather than individuals
Heh, I thought you were gonna say the order villain was the God Emperor of Mankind from 40k
"you can miss huge chunks and still be ok" is biggest relief i might actually try wow out again if choregast isnt needed
ESO has an amazing archaeology feature. I hope they take ideas from that
Playing as dwarves, bring me Archeology back! right bloody now! (Please!). I'm returning to WoW hoping for lots of world content that I can wander around and do and brilliant professions (hopefully).
"Long term stretch goal." This sums up one of the biggest problems in WoW. My irl employer uses the exact same term. Video games aren't supposed to feel like work, they can have stuff you work for but it shouldn't feel like a second job. Having to log in every day and put in hours because you have to is work not fun. I hope that is a development philosiphy change that Blizzard is willing to look at.
I may try to hit on Tyrande when Malfrion is gone. The Fel might be a problem tho, but I'll try a blindfold.
I don't play blue - did Malfurion do anything after waking up? I remember him telling Tyrande to be quiet and getting hit in the back with an axe.
Anyone else think the Suramar withered training was a better version and probably precursor to Torghast?
Danuser still does not grasp that he has to adjust the narrative to the medium. Having story-content timegated by events or even just patch-sequence requires a different approach to the structure of you storytelling, even if the story itself is good (which it still was not in Shadowlands).
It was hard not to think of that 'kid' who always had to top people, which made me think he hadn't really read any of WoW vast lore. He also suffered from ''tell don't show' nothing about the Jailer makes me think that he is a planer. We never really had to deal with him and the threat wasn't very real. Personally Shadowlands should have been the Therapy expansion. Every leader gets to meet a dead loved one or two, and we find out Sylvanas literally wants a do over (we've already done time travel no biggie) and so does everyone in the Jailer's army so they have a reason to join him that isn't simple mind control powers, we even see he has Arthas locked away and that he was suppose be plan A. to wreck the place, but he died so the Jailer is going with plan B and use the young prince by stuffing the soul of Arthas into his nogg'n so we can have some good ol fashion ptsd and a reason for Sylvanas to wanna switch sides. But not before we have Genn Greymane and Tyrande tag team her in a fight. (Seriously that bit about Tyrande having the the final say with out Genn was utter bs.) it all plays out the same, Arthas gets burned up but not before parting words of wisdom along with Anduin's ghost dads. Everyone learns we have choices or some after school message and enjoy what little character development Baine Bloodhoof finally got after talking to his dad in the land of the dead.
I'm hoping warriors get better between 61 and 70. Seems like warriors always get the corn cob right in the keester without ez-glide. Come on Blizz!
Warrior is always good tho
in what way are warriors currently not good lol
Warriors are busted. And so much self healing
I'm going warrior this xpac. The talents are so good and prot is insane.
I just wish they added reforging back in. Absolutely no reason they got rid of it. It added a great sense of customisation and let you min/max more.
So incredibly annoying
Any word on a talent tree for fishing like the other gathering professions?
I've always wished the Character classes had voice actors behind them to link the character to the story a bit more. The one thing about WoW that has always put me off is how we do all the hard work and it's the Special Characters like Kadgar, Illidan, Tyranda and others who come in at the end and get all the credit. Other games, like Knights of the Old Republic did this well in the beginning.
More iteration on classes? Maybe they could actually spare a dev to work on mages for a change because goddamn have they been abandoned.
Regarding content being more optional to do, Torghast is a great example. I played shadowlands casually, not rushing to get power or worrying about my characters power. This way, I played Torghast when I felt like it and never over grinded it and as a result, I loved it. It was a nice half hour of running around, messing with different classes. I had such a different expansion experience than most and enjoyed it for the most part.
Archaeology definitely needed a huge revamp so I've been loving all the Dragonscale Expedition stuff.
archeology was intersting in cata, and it was never improved, or even done well in later expansions. it was under utilised. Legion was the best moment to make it relevent, but they missed the point.really they should have removed it 10 years ago.
“It’s like putting fluoride in the water.”
Me: ….riiiiiighht…..
I get what you are saying at 6:35 ish to 6:45. But I think they were mostly speaking about Zereth Mortis, which was a blast.
Blizz shoulda said the titans gave em oatmeal instead of chicken nuggets. Way less evil analogy 🐱
It seems like they're trying to give the cast of characters some personality similar to how ff14 does it. I like that you can chat with some characters around the prepatch gear vendor.

I have to commend the Final Fantasy Cinematics team. I have never played Final Fantasy, yet that cinematic elicited a genuine deep emotional response. I actually felt for the protagonist 😊
Man, I really miss being hyped about wow. I miss legion terribly, I enjoyed that expansion so much. Ever since then the game has just been so unenjoyable and always felt like a chore. I'm coming back for Dragon flight but I'm skeptical.
Need a height slider for all races.. +10% to -10%..
"Something cool in the future" is totally just a couple pets & mounts
I'm hoping to one day see class order halls return and/or more class related stories in general.. currently not super hyped, but willing to see how it turns out~ may check in if reviews are good and if patch release frequency/content release is greatly improved.
Class order halls are why Legion was my favorite expansion. They were all so unique and really played into the class fantasies. I leveled more alts than I ever had in a previous expansion or since. The fact that they're just sitting there unused is a complete shame imo.
I plan on leveling and then doing only solo shuffle unless I want the set bonus from the raid. I’m glad you can do the content you want and not forced into other content
Wish u would include links to these articles ur reporting on in the video description
I think the Yesra poltline could be great if done right as I think she was very underused in game before her death.
So would love her to get sone good lore in this xpac to also show more of the green dragonflight lore as i think they generally have been underused. So use her to pass on the torch to the next generation and give her a proper send off by the end of it.
My only worry is do I really trust blizzard to do this right.
Not at the expense of Malfurion. There are barely any male characters from WIII left in the game, Blizzard keeps killing them.
@@Valehass I am totally fine with it if it is a temporary thing this expansion to help with a green dragon storyline and then give us back malf.
I do worry it will become a permanent thing that when they need malf/ysara for a bit they just throw the other in the shadowlands as I would hate that.
@@Lupp I actually think that could work really well, with Malfurion becoming almost like a Loa/Wild God-level thing like Bwonsamdi (and now Vol'jin?). Him and Ysera becoming something that links Life, Death and the mortal realm together, representatives of the cycle of rebirth.
@@Candlemancer yea I guess that could be interesting if done right.
Tbh for now I see potential in the story line and just hoping for the best but hard to get my hopes up as personally I think the story writing have been horrible for a long time.
But hoping it will get better so not going to get mad over story I only know the surface level of.
@@Candlemancer @thelonelysnowelf (孤独な雪の妖精) Big problem with malfurion is he's already reached level of god. In War of the ancients he fought equal with Archimonde (god of fel), Legion saw him as greater threat than any Wild God, orcs clans or human kingdoms, Ysera herself admits he surpassed her in druidism. Why such powerful character even need extra boost, why we even need sacrifice Malfurion when other creatures from Shadowlands have no problem going to reality (Kyrians, Maldraxxus spies, dreadlords) writers just want extra drama nothing more.
Honestly, was considering to give it a try since legion, but then noticed they still ask 90eur for expansion on top of sub on top of ingame shop and semi P2W wow token. That's some nerve, almost makes actual P2W games look like the good guys. Not gonna support that until it proves to be superb by user reviews, and that's a very long shot.
Totally agree. I saw that they give an option now to pay for a whole year of subscription time for some lame in game rewards. This game has become so overly monetized that I just can't believe more people do not bash them for it. They also added "pre-order early access" to the Evoker class, something that has not been done before. They want to drain as much money from people early on that way even if they drop the expansion they've already made a good chunk of money. Pathetic.
5:28 I was totally expecting you to say "agile".
2:05 what's the name of addon that makes DBM timers like that pop on top of screen?
I actually quit for most of Shadowlands due to a sort of bizarre reason. I feel claustrophobic in the shadowlands, I feel like each place being connected by these ley lines just felt closed up. Maldraxxus gave me a mental dread feeling and I hated even going there. Oribos just felt like an ominous tower in a void and mentally it messed with me. I didn't feel like that in any other expansion, ever. I'm just not sure if I'm explaining it well enough for others to understand what I mean. I have huge hopes for Dragonflight, I just hope they stop this breaking off of zones and this closed game feeling. I need wide open spaces.
Your comment about continuous delivery! made me 😃
where can I read that article he is showing on screen?
No mention of Patrick Dawson mentioning Draconids as possible allied race during the expansion to give people dragons that could be other classes?
They could already do that with Dracthyr, seriously in the cinematics are already Dracthyr with polearms and axes so why don't we have warriors as class for them?
@@williampaulsinghharika2627 But I want to be beefy
17:00 ~ In the Pre-Expansion content... for Horde it is on the Zeplin tower we use, There are a couple groups with chat bubbles, click on the chat bubbles (Stay a while and listen) they start talking with each other. Baine Bloodhoof laments how Anduin is absent, but that King Greymane actually responded to the letters, with the reveal of reports of sightings of Anduin but they had yet to be confirmed. So maybe they are already working on this idea? 😅

Look doesn't matter I've been here 14 years now what i and everyone else wanted are games that are done and ready to GOAT LAUNCH period.
Who gives a damn about whether a micro menu can be moved? They need to fix the fact that the BlizzUI is broken. I have NO addons that mess with action bars or anything, but I get constant errors that lock out my action bars. I can't click cast, I can't use keybinds, I can't do shit. I have to /reload in THE MIDDLE OF COMBAT! and this only started when they released the BlizzUI
I still remember back in Cata a vocal minority was upset that NPCs already knew of our character and that they wanted to be a "Nobody" again. Blizzard decided to listen to these people and ever sense we've kind of waivered back and forth between being important and just being a dude.
I blame a lot of Wow's story telling problems on the choice to listen to those people back in cata.
Blizzard also shits all over fan favorite characters such as Garrosh and Arthas and shoves Sylvanas down our throats to please the virgin beta cuck fanboys. I'd rather be a nobody and have a good story over being the savior and watch them shit all over what we loved about the game and story 🤷♂️
We have been heroes, commanders etc. I think they should just keep going like that. Maybe do an expension where we are mercenaries, or explorers.
Wtf Malfurion and Tyrande are totally different. They're not just both leaders. Malfurion is an epic druid who was slumbering and was woken up when SHTF by Tyrande, who is a priestess. Like, can a race only have one leader? Different kinds of leaders
your point on having a more constant cast; I haven't played FFXIV but I know you played GW2 and It is almost exclusively what makes GW2's story such a joy. You meet various people, many of whom stay with you for a long time, and there is HOURS of dialogue between your NON-silent protagonist and other crew members (with much better acting than WoW I must say)
the impression i got was that steve is really irritated in how much everyone is overthinking everything, and basically all the lore mega nerds should chill out a bit and just let the game be a game.
Yeah I'm not believing a single thing Blizz talks about 'for the future'. On any level. There is no trust. They have to earn it back and I'm certainly not giving it to them without a damn good reason.
You knew what you were doing with that thumbnail.
Druid Balance forms!?!? Finally!!
I miss Archeology and I'm sure there's a few of us out there.
I saw that dragon flying being up to 800% at max speed so hopefully they make mounts start at 100% bonus and quickly work up to something more than we have now.
I feel like there should be more difficulties with Raids similar to Mythic+ dungeons. I also wish they should have zone difficulties: normal, heroic, and mythic difficulties upgrading all quest rewards and enemy difficulty.
If they add something like Korthia they should make the currency stay the same throughout ALL of the expansion with every major patch decreasing rewarded older content. This way people who have the time they can go back to older content to have a slight edge to currency.
So that's why dragons have such nice teeth.
We need an expansion where malfurion comes back as the bad*** he is and just wrecks stuff. I don't care if it makes sense in the lore. It'd be so hype. Underused character for sure
please god no - we really don't need any more "cool hype stuff that doesn't make sense". we need a consistent story that actually has some thought behind it.
thank god you're not on the writing team lmao
TYYYYYYRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANDE
Showing the cinematic next to the frame that you're talking in is very distracting. I had to cover it up with a binder to focus on what you were talking about. Just a suggestion.
This was a 19 minute video and every comment is about archaeology😂
I'm getting a really ugly case of dejavu.
"We dropped the ball with patches and content. Next time will be better".
Yeah, this time is absolutely different. Sure.
I totally agree with the bit about storytelling and how things differ between wow and FF 14. I have always said that the way they tell a story and wow is very lackluster. There is no regular cast of characters who you interact with who actually talk about the over arcing narrative of the expansion, in which you’re playing through. without that, unless you do every quest, and every dungeon and every raid and watch every cut seem possible while also reading the books, watching whatever cinematics they release, then you will have no clue what the heck is going on. Somewhere along the lines after the expansion is said and done somebody like you will come along and make a video recapping everything. Meanwhile, the people watching our scratching their heads like where the heck was this going on while I was playing the game?
Unfortunately WoWs lore has been damaged beyond repair and can never be taken seriously. It's just too much like a Saturday morning cartoon at this point and is just stringing things along as best as it can to keep making reasons for expansions.
FF14s story is amazing and is if followed along is a cohesive one that has an actual story arch. But also something they clearly had defined for years now.
Hopefully they should make content with rewards that make the experience worth the effort and that is actually fun to do rather than the same lazy copy paste grind.
Please start using timestamps.
I want my Mission Tables back!
I think Dracthyr should be able to be other classes. I mean, it woouldnt be out of the realm of possibility to see a Dracthyr rogue, mage, warrior, etc.
Personally i am going to wait they would have to do some massive damage repair for what they have done to the story part of warcraft.
i think a new patch has to feel like a new expansion to be successful
You need to change your mindset then
