I get nervous when a sample provider doesn't showcase their legato patches.
A demo of the legato patches would be great ;)
Anyone else been watching far too many walkthroughs trying to make up your mind which string library to get with limited resources?
I've been at it for nigh on three months. feelsbadman T_T
LOL! This is where I am right now... Checking out Solo Strings for the first time...
Hadn’t any idea strings could sound this good. Think I’ll sell a kidney tomorrow!😜
thought about it for two days. Compared solo strings from cinematic and spitfire. went with spitfire. no regrets.
Lol !! ... yessir !!! been at this for 3 weeks ... downloading tonight and tomorrow ... and the next day .... and the next ... and so on ...
Some bloody lovely sounds in there. I can't wait to see how much the whole library has grown in a couple of year's time.
I just came here to thank you for my favorite solo strings library.
I currently use this library alongside Bell's solo violin to cook all my chamber writings.
The perfect balance is achieved here, not too much ram is used, and the resulted sound is stunning!
I definitely need to get this library! Looking very promising, and now there are all these useful articulations that I missed in the original one! Can't wait to buy them!
I'm very excited about this
Woah, all together sounds amazing.
Hi KONTAKT, good to see you again.
After watching walkthroughs of solo string libraries I actually bought some. I'll share my comparison here: Spitfire Solo Strings, VSL Synchronized Solo Strings, Cremona Quartett.
Most important for me is legato, since shorts usually sound good anyway. Making a string melody sound well, that is the tough job with string libraries, solo strings in particular.
1.) VSL is a beast, it the most powerful, but you need to learn to program, plus I find the constant vibrato (i.e. lack of real vib control) in VSL Solo Strings a bit annoying. It makes things much more difficult than they should be. VSL appears to be an old library. Apart from that... still great library.
2.) Cremona Quartet: nice. Vibrato rate and frequency can be adjusted, legato sounds good, very well sampled. Quite realistic sound with much less programming effort. But: less articulation options than VSL of course.
3.) Spitfire Solo Strings: Sorry, the legato patches are simply abysmal. Try to play a run or a slightly moderate passage. Legato transitions are far from seamless, very unnatural, you can hear how notes are "glued together" (via legato transitions or script?). Try to play a run without vibrato (like most string players would actually do), you are left with sound fragments only, completely unusable. Vibrato control is ugly, too. You can hear very clearly the morphing between 2 (is it even more?) different layers. And the two layers appear to have been recorded on seperate sessions (or string player / instrument), they sound nothing alike. It is not quite different to BBCSO String leader, not a real improvement.
Sounds great! but what about portomento control and bow changes? This is so important in a solo strings library
I agree. Any news about that? Did you figure it out? 😅
I like it sound great. £300 is a reasonable pre order price too but adding it to the £600 needed for chamber strings which sound great I think is a bit much for amateur bedroom musician like me. Excellent demo.
Thank you Mr. Thomson
Sounds great. Specially like the flautando and bass harmonics. I like the progressive idea - was looking for this naturally vib added on long notes for years. What’s really pity is the lack of flautando for the viola :(
Hope you will add it in an update
Please a walktrough with Mr Henson and his Appiziture master piece. Its glorious!
Anybody knows how to cut the reverb off? Mines have too much and I don't know how to remove it to get that tight sound that is being displayed in the video.
The cellos sound particularly nice
THANKS!
Just now bought one..Great work. (guess a bit late discovery for me)
AMAZING
i like the library, sounds nice. but some sounds are so agresive for my taste. and others so sweets i like this more sweet sound..pizzicato and some others are sooo lovelys...thanks for this.
What is the slider control thing you use for volume, expression, etc?
does anyone have any recommendations for alternate solo strings libraries that are better? cinestrings maybe? or is this top of the game?
GREAT! how can i do TREM SUL PONT with PORT OR GLISSAND? thanks? a legato with trem sul pont i want
This will be library number 35 for me. What will you think of next?
Hi Paul, I own the original solo strings package you released many years ago. Can you tell me what the difference is apart from the visual UI. Are they the same samples or completely new recordings
Is there a legato option for violin virtuoso? I mean not as an other patch but as a key switch..
Love Solo Strings - the BEST!!! But... It’s hard to change the articulation in a Key Map switch - for each instrument with some different positions. you get used to one layout, switch to another and then you need to rebuild for memory.
This is probably the string library that would benefit most from legato patches. It doesn’t appear to have any. Maybe I’m wrong. It sounds amazing. Great video.
I'm confused. I have Solo Strings but my Violin Virtuoso patch doesn't look like this. I also can't seem to find the keyswitches, which is making me program a violin solo in really difficult...
Why choosing this library more than the Sacconi's one (except the double bass presence, I don't see the point )?
Could you use this as a string quartet ?
My spiccatos are not very good. Which plugin would you recommend if in need for the best spiccato sound of violin/viola?
Does this library contain all the same stuff as the Solo Violin patch?
Is IT Just working in Kontakt?
Legato demo? And why only legato for the 1st desk violin? No bass legato either? Odd choices.
List of all articulations at the very bottom of product/buy website - link in the description.
NocturneRecords Your response has nothing to do with my comment.
You get what is listed- that's all. Best way to get reply from vendor is to open support ticket at spitfire not CZcams comments. Have a good one Mate.
The point of CZcams comments is to voice your opinion, positive or negative. How is that concept so lost on people?
Portomento/Glissando?
Hi *Paul* , Why is it not available until July 12?
Steven Cravis they still gotta create hype for it. Also, a lot of people on a budget can save up till then, instead of just being hit with a sudden library that they can't get yet.
We miss exceptional woodwinds libraries rather than numerous strings libraries x)
agree... i think we miss more woodwinds ( real woodwinds articulations, no experimental things ) and choirs too...
Anyone else having problems with external hard drives over working when using spitfire? I’ve got a powerful iMac yet I still pull spitfire data from the external hard drive. In the Kontakt player, cpu stays at 0/1 whereas disk shoots to 100% straight away. Mostly with brass on Albion 3. Could it be my hard drive isn’t good enough?? It’s driving me crazy 😖
If your motherboard controller doesn't support USB 3.0 (625 MB/s) it only has 50 MB/s.
HDD: internal (130-180MB/s) -> external usage with USB 2.0 (limit: 50MB/s)
SSD: Internal (~220MB/s) -> external usage with USB 2.0 (limit: 50MB/s)
Other slowing factors:
Is your OS on a SSD? How big is your paging memory(temporary storage)? How much RAM do you use? Another thing to consider is the fragmentation of the HDD. Check it with a Defragmentation Software. Since you're using an iMac it could also be that your HDD is slower if the file system is "NTFS" (microsoft) instead of exFAT (useable by Mac). NTFS needs a licens, so there are only slow programms that let you use it, but never saw "fullspeed" on an external HDD with a Mac. Hope I could help.
I WANT LEGATOOO
A Cat a 100% real cat, not a Dog Your name is hilarious!!!
I was asking about that Choir library they started doing some time ago. Unfortunately its quiet since. Legato patches are not even close to what "Tina Gua Viola" or Firelander Violin did. Transitions between notes are one of the hardest things to do if You want it to sound realistic. I am a fan of out of the box live play - everything but legato patches sound great. Price tag reflects amount of articulations done - its allot work after all.😶
Btw, there is only a Tina Guo Cello, not "Tina Guo Violin" or "Tina Gua Viola". XD
You are absolutely right! - not sure why i said violin :)
Tell me please, what is this midi keyboard?
Doepfer LMK4+
Dan Keen thx ))
Spitfire released a new library! yeah! ah........another string library.......k
I'm starting to see more and more negative comments for Spitfire recently....It's a shame but maybe it is time for even better Quality over Quantity from them.

Legato Patches?
List of all articulations at the very bottom of product/buy website - link in the description.
I'd seen that. Just wondering why legato patches were not mentioned or demoed in this video...
@@NocturnalRecords7 why have you replied this to multiple people? It’s not helpful at all. They are not asking if it includes legato patches, they are asking why the video doesn’t showcase them.
So You can add allot of value by adding Your comment.
Come on summer sale......
long are not legato, its that obvious. Maybe they have a new legato patch with a new technique, maybe saving it for a new video of its own. Hoping so. otherwise the rest sound fantastic. Definitely prefer these sound over CSSS
I’ve no doubt his will fall on deaf ears, however... I would love a tutorial video on how to mix tracks using solely spitfire samples. I find trying to level and pan tracks using spitfire plugins loses nuisances etc. It gets very muddy very quickly. I understand a large part is down to your ear for mixing though I think a tutorial would be incredibly helpful.
Try emphasizing the Close mic positions?
TheUltim8Apocalypse that will help with moving the track forward/backward in the mix. My biggest problem is panning.
I don't need this library but I pre ordered it. Totally nonsence but it sounds si great
A solo library without Legato?
There's legato patches included.
The sounds themselves seem quite good - but in all of these demo's we never hear any really good music - (eg: Beethoven Quartets / Tippett Concerto for Double String Orchestra) Obviously this is because these would require a reasonable keyboard technique to input notes into a "DAW". So why aren't there versions of these liberies specifically made for Notation programs ie: Sibelius and Dorico where notes can be inputted in different ways ? Only in that way can real comparisons be made with real instrumental ensembles - instead of the endless usually poor John Wiliams imatations that flood CZcams !
Don''t know man they don't sound like they are true legato, I kind of hear all of their attacks. Anyone else?
It's truly a shame that the people who ordered Solo Strings recently weren't made aware of this new library coming out... it wasn't made clear at all about the cross grade information either. I know there are alot of people who are disappointed about the lack of clarification/communication.
I have exactly the same issue. I was NEVER made aware of this new release prior to purchasing old solo strings . I purchase old solo strings less than two weeks ago, just contacted tech support to politely explain my issue and response was: “Thank you for getting in touch. Unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund or exchange on this product. We did try our best to make our customers aware that the firesale would be prior to the new Solo Strings release, and that any purchases during this period would not be eligible for the crossgrade. If there is anything else that I can help with please don't hesitate to let me know.” I am subscribed to Spitfire CZcams, and have watched every video blog of Chris Henderson and nowhere does this information tech support was a de clear to me to make educated purchase was available or clear. This is unacceptable business practice.
Anybody else with same experience?
Although from a perfectionist point of view you do not wish to give the user the option of using glissando/pitch wheel, many of us are composers, and without this option the library is less valuable, - which is a pity, because it has so many good qualities.
The Kind of scraping noise coming with the high long Samples is so disturbing...
wondering the spec of his hmmmmm like RAM
Where do I give you my money?
Finish Your Product first, then show us all features, thx.
Why does the cello sound convincing and the violin utterly fake?
that vibrato on the longs, yikessss
No legato?... Not worth this money.
Always the same libraries with diferent name...Be more original please!
Dinopolese Sharkosaur yes! That is the perfect definition ! They need £££
