I'd love to see how you print, cut, and use a stencil after seeing you make it in Photoshop. This would help so much!
John Otinger yeah that would be great
I agree with John otinger , please :)
Yes please do that, I'm waiting on a video just like that!!!
Would definitely like to see a part 2 of this and watch you bring it to life! :)
Enjoy watching your videos! If you start to do more tutorials, I would love to see your paint process and the process you do when it comes to cutting out detailed layers.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I have been working with stencils in my artwork for years. This has now made my stencil creation process 100% easier. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU.
:D Glad to hear it!
Awesome, never knew how to do this! Thanks. Could you do a video explaining the rest of the process? Like, cutting them out, how to spray paint etc?
+Liesbeth L (Liz) Yes I will! :)
+Simply Sara Art Please, do it, the only thing that stuck me is how to separe the layers between them, every time I try register one by one they just replace it ! X(
+Simply Sara Art Yes, please do make a new video on how to go about this process. My friend and I tried to make a stencil with your method. We are just about done. Just did the 2nd layer, but it doesn't look exactly right. Not awful, though.
+Simply Sara Art, I would love to see this tutorial!
+Simply Sara Art Would defenetly like to see the rest of the process I notice that wen I see you cuting the stencils they seem "traced" not printed so I assume you trace them to a thicker paper?... also how long do you let it dry between each layer etc... gratz on the rad art!
Awesome! I loved your last how to video but the new one is even better!!
I'm totally inspired Sara. Your the first person I've seen doing stencil on youtube through a montana vid. Straight awesomeness! Now even motivated to create art and paint my town with it. Thank you for this channel and techniques your sharing. Once I do one I'll share it with you. Blessings!
+Yo Double R Nice! And thank you. Looking forward to see your work!
Thank you for this simplified tutorial. You rock!
Love your work sara
great video, you actually explain really clear!
Love the video tutorial, Sara!
Sara we need part two lol I love your art
Damn you are a badass! After trying to cut out a simple stencil and failing 4 times, I finally did a search on CZcams and came across your older video. I was blown away by your art and patience. Thank you for your new tutorial I really do hope you continue documenting the rest of your process. I've been binge watching your other videos and each one leaves me more and more inspired.
Id like to see from print to cutting them out! Can't wait for part 2
Yes I would really like to see you paint this image on a canvas so we have a full video of all the steps.
I'd love to see part 2!
A tip can be to not deselect after you've removed the white, then when applying threshold to the next layer, you can see where you stopped and how much will change when moving further to the right.
ahh thank you so much!! love your work
can't wait to see the next tutorial 😃
Amazing!! Thank you!!❤
Great Video! I've always wanted to learn how to do this and you explained everything simple and easy! How do you print it out and what do you save it as after doing this ?
Awesome tutorial. Thank you very much!
thank you for sharing your wonderful work. I will try to do something simple.
Hey Sara! your work is very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! :)
Derp derpa lol! Awesome tutorial, I miss working in photoshop and illustrator. I think I'm going to pick it up again.
you explained this really well
i have a question on how you transfer this into like your paper or stencil paper or whatever that you are gonna cut out each layer. How do you trace all of the three stencils? and if you are trying to make it pretty big how do you transfer/ trace it onto a bigger size canvas?? i hope i made sense? hope to hear from you soon!! love your work btw hella inspire me!
Would love to know the answer to this also.
+brownprider19
Each layer gets printed separately and the colored (grey) parts are cut out.
Photoshop has an option to print any size you want, and it will spread those prints over multiple A4 sheets of paper. You have to glue or tape those sheets together to form the large size that you wanted.
you print it on multiple pages yo
I flippin' love your art! Really looking forward to a step-by-step tutorial as you mention in the video, hope you do it! *fingers crossed*
Anyways, thanks for sharing Sara!!!😄
+yaniii09 I will be making them :) dont worry. might take some time since i dont have a mic for my camera and would have to do voice over but I will get it done :)
Thx 4 this great tutorial. How do you print youre larger stencils??
I would also like to see you paint this one. Thanks for sharing!
AWESOME!!
Thanks for sharing. I love your videos.
thats dope
amazing ......thank you so much
Great tutorial!! would love to see how to do the actual cutting and painting process so that I can follow along! :)
Hi, love your work! what type of paper do you use?
How do you print to size your stencils? and as always i would love to watch more of your work Sara
How do you do the multi colored layers like your Flash art?
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!
Very Helpful!
When you planning to paint this out!?
This tutorial was very nice!! Very simple! Could this be helpful for tape stencils? I sometimes do tapepainting art stencils..
thank you Sara!
Can I ask what kind of paint you use for your stencils they look amazing!
i love your work i recently started a custom skateboard painting business. I was inspired by your ones.
I would love to see a part 2 also how would i deal with tiny islands and small details .
thanks
Love your tutorials! I was just wondering, what would you do if you wanted to create a layered black/gray/white stencil, but also wanted a layered colored part (like the eyes). How would you separate the two parts?
+Jillian Ketchen You would have to create an extra print of the layer that includes the eyes, and then you only cut out the eyes for that one.
great tutorial :)
That was helpful thank you!
;)
Definitely make another tutorial!!
when you print these images, which one do you use first and so on?
dude, yes. thank you!
when you print them do you do a white color overlay and a stroke so it's just an outline of everything?
hey love your work how much would you charge for a 4 layer custom pic chosen by me skateboard?
wowwww
Hello Sara, great video, thank you, just a question, not sure it is related to stenciling or not, I have a picture, kind of a band logo, I want to modify the photo in order to cut it out for painting on a T shirt, so I guess your tutorial is suitable for my work because it will be easier to cut out those area on the photo , am I correct?
Part two for sure. Especially what u use to cut it with u have cricut thinking of changing it to silhouette
Can you make a video of you painting it, but also tell us/ show how you print your stencils
it's going to be my way as well!
Awesome art, channel and love ur IG acct.
Is etsy your preferred method for selling individual pieces? Do you take custom orders?
Have you had a chance to create a tutorial for the printing to painting portion yet?
Nice one!! :-)
Can you do an island layer tutorial
do you copy them on to paper by hand or print them? I've tried both usually smaller stencils 2 or 3 layers by hand cause I don't have easy access to print onto larger paper
NICE VID....👍👍🎁
Can you do custom multilayered stencils for people to buy cause I have a picture that I would like to use but never have the time to actually learn how and do it myself and seeing your work is phenomenal and really what I'm asking is if you are willing to make me one? I want one for my deck.
Nice video, but how do you deal with islands and very tiny places?:)
+Kili Many artists go back to their print and manually draw bridges, small lines that connect those islands. With a bit of planning, the next layer will cover those bridges. There are a few videos here on YT that deal with that issue.
thanks
A step by step would be awesome, I always have issues from after I print my stencils (paper is hard to cut on and tears easily and trying to transfer it)
Am so trying that
you should make a video of you cutting this out..you know to show us the whole process and where to cut on each sheet. btw your art is amazing :)
what kind of paper do you use for your stencils?
how do you handle island layers?
what type of paper do you print off your stencil
if you use some vector-friendly software you should be able to do this way faster. ex. in inkscape you can select trace bitmap to path option and then select brightness (or colors or grays) steps as you wish
When I make a stencil and print it's really pixelated any help to smooth my
Line out
How do you print them out onto the stencil paper?
please do the vid of your process with this image :)
Hi, how you print each layer?
How do you save each layer individually? So I can print them?
What about the "white" the one with no details only the overall form? Btw nice tutorial and I really like what you do!
Is there any aktrnative to this software
Great video. Please, make video of painting this image on a canvas.
how would you make the fourth layer
How do you print them out onto the stencil paper
Sara, That was awesome, but what I need is the next stages. I do not need the color because I airbrush the images. I cannot get CorelDraw 7 to sent my images to my plotter (Graphte CE6000-24 or something like that). Any advice on cutting them on sticky back stencil would be very helpful. I have spent many hours hand making stencils or free drawing things for people. Thanks
Yes please do a video on the printing and cutting the stencil. How do you print out the large stencils?
+Kris Kozlowski I do it all by hand on posterboard. Check out my leaf video for a good look at cutting:
czcams.com/video/IabVwznjybA/video.html
+Simply Sara Art thank you
Fala paracaralhooooo!!!!! kkk
Yes, show part 2 so that we can understand the whole process.
Which app do you use???
Pls reply
is photoshop the only program u can use to do this like ur doing
So after all this, you print each layer individually and cut what's filled in correct?
I want to learn to make the template's she used for her flash and deadpool art, can someone pls help me
I've never done one of these but i started the process before. I stopped because i could't get passed how rough and scattered some spots were. Could you show how to fix that?
How do you cut it ?
i'm trying to do this on cs6 but when i delete the background, the treshold window stops working, any idea what might be causing this
How do you know what bits to cut out with the knife?
+Emilie Isen All of the colored (grey) parts get cut out.
Can you trace the different layers by hand?
Should I grayscale the image first before doing the thresholds or does it matter? Thank you!!
+Susan Hare Check about 2 minutes into my first tutorial here:
czcams.com/video/r7aZ2ez-9Mo/video.html
I hope you do another one...three years later! LOL!
when ever i try to delete the background or the white when you go to colour range my computer just says "could not complete your request because the smart tool is not directly editable" does anyone know what to do
+Simply Sara Art What kind of paper or board do you use as your stencil? And Please do a step by step tutorial!! Thanks xD
I never get the hair done.. did. u edit the hair.. ??
does anyone know if there's any simple way to get rid of all those small dots everywhere and to make the picture overall "smoother"?
