I don't think I have said this to a guy before but, Nice Rack.
👍
hahaha thanks Jackie!
The hair looks good getting that nice flow 😂😂
The black rack looks great with the van color. Warm weather is a perfect christmass gift.
Thanks Tom! Yes we can't wait!
That's a sweet rack!! You can also hide your solar panels too. Do they make these for a ford econoline?
Unfortantly not.
Looks great!
Thanks Wyatt!!!
Holy rack! Looks like the Prinsu on my 4Runner. Rugged 🚐💨
Thank you!!! We are loving it!
Very well
Done!
Thank you!!! ❤️
Looks great. Looking forward to the progress
Thanks Bill! Can't wait to finalize this roof rack, going to be sweet!
Well done!
Thanks Ryan!
@@MathersOnTheMap You're Welcome!
Love DIY projects... especially when I am not involved .... can watch others work all day long! 😂
Caribbean vacation! 🌴... NIce! Enjoy!! Perhaps a scuba dive 🤿adventure day vlog? 🤔
Ski/Snow update...
Got in two morning days (Fri & Sun) of ski at Jack Frost...
Only one "black cat" trail open...
Groomed Packed powder (24" base)... perfect for my style of carv/race!
Just livin' the east coast "Cali" dream lifestyle... 50 degree sunny weather in Ardmore... along with 25 degree with snow in the Poconos!
👍on the vlog!
haha Thanks Lee! Unfortunately no scuba diving for Taylor since she's pregnant but we'll see how much adventure we get in! Hopefully some good exploring, but likely nothing crazy.
Stoked to hear the mountain's open!
Got a trip out to Colorado with the boys, looking forward to it!
Great job! Your Nieghbor’s are characters. Can’t wait to see all the salt on the roof 😂. Looking forward to getting those deck panels up 😎
Thank you!!! Same here, can't wait it's going to be sweet!
Very cool. I’ve seen a few cool companies with similar 80-20 material usage such as Vandoit adventure vans. Seems like it’s becoming more popular for modularity!
Really nice! I like the rack a lot! Similar to the aluminess modular one. Looks great!! Have fun on your trip & Merry Christmas!!
Thanks Sherry!! Merry Christmas!!!
Well done!!
Thanks Jesse!
I think your roof rack with semi-flexible solar panels is a smart and efficient solution. However, I noticed that the Mercedes Sprinter 2500 170wb has a roof load capacity of only 330 pounds, so I'm trying to keep everything on my roof under that limit as I design my next van. I was wondering if you could share the approximative weight of your steel roof rack with solar panels, as that information would be very helpful. Thank you!
Jacky! Great question > Our 170 Stealth+ Roof Rack is built 100% from aluminum minus the stainless steel hardware and is about 78 pounds total including crossbars, each 150 watt solar panel is 15 pounds, and all the deck panels on the mathers build together are 90 pounds. Total that is 228 pounds, far below the 330 pound moving weight limit. Technically, MB's designation of the 331 lb 'dynamic' load refers to the load while the vehicle is in motion, not the load moving while the vehicle is stationary or 'static'. It can handle much more weight when not moving and the rack is rated to 10x this number. Hope that helps!
Did you add any rubber gaskets or weatherstripping to the underside of the front & rear fairings? You mentioned a small air gap is needed so that it is not touching any of the van exterior, wondering if this would create any whistling or roof noise while driving? Great vid, looking to order an Orion for our van here soon!
Hey Cole, no we didn’t and it’s positioned where it won’t touch the van. There’s no whistling or roof noise either which is nice. We did have to put a weather strip under the light bar to prevent that whistle but it was $6 at Home Depot and super easy. If you’re thinking about Orion we’d really appreciate it if you use our affiliate link!!! orionvangear.com/?ref=a2DIATBU
Looks great. I’m guessing there will be a ladder on the side of the van?
100% That needs to get on soon!
great rack. How do you attach a side ladder into the roof rails?
Have to drill into it, I’ll be uploading the video in a week or two, wish I did the ladder before installing the deck panels
How were those two long rails, that hheld the carriage bolts installed onto the roof ? Since that wasn't shown, I'm guessing they were on when you purchased the van?
I didn't create a video of it, since it was repetitive with my first van build series and a little too dry for van build series 2.0!
But here's the video! the exact pair we got is in the video's description - czcams.com/video/b9r9k4ugQ0I/video.html&pp=ygUdbWF0aGVycyBvbiB0aGUgbWFwIHJvb2YgcmFpbHM%3D
Nice rack, Kevin! 🍻
Thanks guys!
like the rack but doesn’t work with a side ladder 🙈
I got good news it does! czcams.com/video/92GksovVKcA/video.htmlsi=qzgdiyS9MXdxctwJ
We have a surf pole and surf hooks on it now too
Kind of a crazy price for an 80/20 based system tbh
600 Watts of solar is going to be NICE!
Right! We are stoked!
Looks great!
Thanks Matt!!!
