It’s ashame that we don’t hear and sing these songs there so much gospel in the words an enjoyable time spent listening
i sing them all the time.
Bill Gaither talks about the old hymns that his and my generation grew up with . He said that we don't love them because their old, although that is a good reason because the church was spirit driven than now. We really need those old songs that are given to people like Fanny Crosby. Shr was disabled, and had and spent the time because she knew there was call on her life. Dotty Rambo had 2,500. songs published. You and I couldn't do that. She wrote We Shall Behold Him in two minutes. I should say she wrote it down .God gave it. Anyway Gaither says we love them because their good. I agree with you, we need to sing out of a hymn book. It's a study in theology. At 75 I know most of them by heart. That is good for me. I sing them all the time. They can't take that away, just like memorizing the Bible. Don't quit trying to get the old hymns back into worship service.
I feel privileged to attend a church where we still sing out of the hymn book in every service 😁

Took a big chance on changing a classic gospel song. I liked it ,just wondered how many were upset.
Nanc McDougall if you think it's not the singer which conveys the Holy Spirit to us. The calling of the Holy Spirit is what the sinner feels when he is under conviction. There are so many people who have surrendered the life to go and sing at church services. Because they have a special call on their life; God can use them, a singer, to convey the gospel that might not otherwise have been heard. One man can preach a sermon and people will come forward. Another can do the same sermon and no one responds. A good example is Billie Gramham.
