I think a large issue is that many people in the XDefiant community felt pretty strongly against the recent rumors of the game.
Ultimately hearing a game has a similar work ethic as Call of Duty AND that it's trying to replicate aspects of Call of Duty isn't a good look for a game that's supposed to be "different" than its competitors.
I'm aware that official statements have said these aren't true, but nobody is going to believe that over an insider leak, especially nowadays with how most people have seen studios run and turned their games into dumpster fires.
Combine that with it essentially falling off a cliff as far as releasing and news goes (from a transparent community manager) and its easy to see a lot of the community feel like they were swindled into believing something that wasn't true, that this will be a casual game for people who loved the old style of multiplayer shooters and where the people making the game are just as passionate as the people playing it.
We'll see what happens, I'll personally try to make time to try it out. I'm cautiously optimistic and expecting a disaster.
Where are you getting "supposed to be different" from? It's not supposed to be different, it's supposed to be the same but better... everyone wants this to be a spiritual successor to classic COD, not something new/different?!

Remember they said IF so it's possible that it wont release for summer. They dint even have a set release date all they're giving is strictly guesses on when they will be releasing the game. Not an official statement saying it will release just a major IF which means theres no set date once again

Almost every multiplayer game has some form of SBMM. But what’s weird is that people only seem to like this game because they think they get to take advantage of lower skilled players
I played the beta and it was fun. I didnt feel the bullshit hit reg and the rigged gunfights like COD has. Hopefully they dont change it and leave it the way it was in the beta. But If they add the bullshit Battle pass and EOMM, there is no point of playing.
I feel like Ubi should have gone the full game route on this one. Basically make a full Black Ops game, with a compelling campaign, charismatic characters, PvP and a PvE horde mode.
Then build on that formation for online content instead of releasing yearly sequel.
Otherwise I think it will be another case of a Warface type of game.
Yeah. So far the appeal to this game is “we are like the old cod”. But what’s going to happen is all of the cod try hards are going to play this game. Because casuals won’t know about it. So most lobbies even without SBMM are still going to be sweaty

If they want to build hype they need to take the lid off this game. Full transparency and show off the game and systems and give us a steady flow of info until launch

I'm still very excited to play this game... COD is very expensive in Brazil, I would have to refrain from buying games for months to save money for the game in the series (A little more than 1/4 of my minimum wage parents), with a discount they have a more acceptable price... But still very expensive (A little less than 1/4).
It seems that they are using the same price for games on consoles on Steam, which is a price that makes things much more complicated for people who live in poorer countries.
But if Xdefiant is f2p and has cool and cheap microtransactions, without being predatory, I intend to support the game...
*I'll wait a few months after launch to see if this is the case.

The constant delays really killed the momentum for this game. I will still play it but cant say I was as excited as before.
I don't really understand the thought process behind "They took too long, I don't even want to try it anymore". I am all for developers taking as much time as they need to put out the best product we can. The long wait doesn't bother me at all. I'm still excited for xDefiant, and while I don't have much free time this weekend, I'll try my best to fit in a game or two.

@@TheHonoredOne915 I'm not saying it always works out for the best, but it's much more likely to be more polished. At the very least, you'll probably avoid having a game as broken as Cyberpunk.
(For the record, I've never played or even seen anything about Skull and Bones, so if that game was similarly broken as Cyberpunk, then fair enough. If it's just bad because it's bad, well, that's just really unfortunate.)

Taking longer doesn’t mean the game will be better. Especially for multiplayer fps games. Because there will always be balancing and map issues at launch

@@ethanp1348 I’d rather have it in reverse. Bugs and imbalances can be fixed with patches and updates. If the core game loop is bad then that’s just a bad game. Cyberpunk and No Mans Sky come to mind. They didn’t release in great shape. But they improved. Now look at them. While a game like Skull and Bones took 8 years. They called it the first AAAA game. Hundreds of millions. And the core gameplay is not fun. Very few bugs. But the game is going to die

Games have been announced years in advance throughout gaming history. Lots of things even beyond gaming get announced many years in advance. I don't see a problem, I have patience. And I'd definitely rather wait to play the game in a better state.

@@toptiertech7291 Many things produced by the entertainment industry take many years, games included, to get released...seems fitting logic to me. Elder Scrolls 6 and GTA 6 are just two games I'm patiently waiting on...both will have been announced like 4-5 years before we get them, and development will be years longer. This is a COD channel, the COD devs are on a 3 year development cycle. Battlefield often takes around 3 years. Some early FPS games were around 2 years, some RPGs around 3-4.
I was hyped af last year. But since it has been so long and MWIII fixed a lot of the issues from MWII - I cant say that any hype remained 😅
And THIS right here is the big key. This game lost its hype because MW3 is a much better game than MW2 was

I really wanna enjoy this game but I absolutely hated the gameplay when I played the first beta
I was genuinely excited for this release but like you said, the delays have killed it. At this point it's like a an old game we get to replay again, as opposed to this new, exciting release.
