Lucifer (Terrance Zdunich) reads the classic fable "The Scorpion and the Frog" as the slick and charming Scorpion (Marc Senter) croons "Trust Me" to his gullible frog gal, Tamara (Jessica Lowndes). Aided by the lovely Painted Doll (Emilie Autumn), The Scorpion uses a knife-thrower's deadly accuracy to strike love into Tamara's heart. But once she takes his bait, this Lothario can't help but reveal his true, venomous nature.
Director Darren Lynn Bousman and writer/actor Terrance Zdunich invite you to join them on an exclusive nationwide road tour featuring burlesque, special personality meet and greets, Q&A forums, sing-alongs, costume contests, and a whole lot of devilish behavior. Audiences will get to enjoy never-before-seen REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA behind-the-scenes footage and bonus features, and, most notably, an exclusive viewing of their new musical film, THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL.
After a triumphant collaboration on 2008's cult hit REPO! The Genetic Opera, Bousman and Zdunich had no where to go but down. ALL THE WAY DOWN TO HELL! Come experience their new musical endeavor, THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL.
THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL features twelve original songs, written by Zdunich and Saar Hendelman, directed by Bousman, produced by Sean E Demott and Joseph Bishara (Insidious), and stars Victoriandustrial rocker Emilie Autumn, Dayton Callie (Sons Of Anarchy, Deadwood), M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan (of the Grammy award winning, cult metal giants Slipknot), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), Maggie "Captain Maggots" Lally and The Blessed Contessa (of The Bloody Crumpets), J LaRose (Insidious), Jessica Lowndes (90210), Mighty Mike Murga (of Mini Kiss), internet star Hannah Minx, Ivan Moody (of the chart-topping heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), Ogre (of the legendary industrial band Skinny Puppy), Marc Senter (The Lost), Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), and Zdunich.

The lesson here: never trust someone with plastic hair.
Aubren Lewis repost
Szalay Tamás Huh?
Aubren Lewis lol trump.
+Cody Anderson best comment yet 😂
+Aubren Lewis This is the best reason ever
Don't trust a man who's lipstick smudge matches the sidechick
Sydney Bishop i was thinking the same thing😁
She's the side chick
She had actually just caught them making out, even though he's supposed to be with her (the frog).
That's kinda the point. The frog is autodistructive; she had just caught the Scorpion kissing the Painted Doll, but he said "trust me" and she followed him to her demise.
HOWLING IN LAUGHTER
I absolutely adored the Scorpion's acting! His facial expressions, his body language, the changes in his voice to depict different emotions. All of it was perfect.
I know right!?
Props to the editing, too. That last "Trust me, trust me", where it abruptly cuts from a death glare to a soothing smile is beautiful.
Ah shit- I broke the 666 likes T ^ T
Is it normal for me to have had a crush on the scorpion?
Kinda wanted him to like the ‘frog’ first time watching years ago. But mimics toxic relationships
A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The
frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion
says, "Because if I do, I will die too."
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"
Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."
Ceeve Blades Damn...that's kinda deep.
LunarChibi - This particular fable has appeared in other movies as well. Seen The Crying Game yet?
IMCassia one of my favorite movies was thinking the same thing
Ceeve Blades in another ending, the scorpion manages to get to land thus drowning the frog
That exact same analogy was given by Chakotahe in Star Trek Voyager a long time ago when it was a new show
I love how they gave him loads of cartoon affects in the film, like the ding sound when he winks
I wouldn't trust him with a bag of groceries.
"Rule no. 135 Don't release any animals from their cages. "
I actually never saw that rule before just looking it up. That is an actual rule. Shit.
That is so true!~
I'm pretty sure that's Robbie Rottens wig out of Lazy Town :) Makes me laugh
Lmao dead
Actually, that was his real hair (robbie).
Holly Goodman I like how you’re ignoring the fact that they worked so hard on this movie...
F
@alxymsp And whatever makes you think I don't appreciate this films artistic integrity?
Gee, you can't really blame her for falling for him. Scorpion is one enticing man..
Really? I just think he's really creepy looking. I mean, especially his hair, it's like, made of plastic or something.
tacoblocko yes, it is to make a point that what is seen and perceived is not always real
Nox Kore
Or it's just bad make up.
Twinkletoes Kat Nope; its to make the point of You *See* what I am, I've *told* You what I am, You've ignored my own warnings and your own eyes...I *warned* you, lied, warned you again, your fate is on your own hands now.
TheCrazyredheadaz
Or the wig is just plastic and it's bad make up. LOL. I'm not talking about the movie, I'm talking about how bad it looks on him.
when he sings trust me, I love how they make his face all serious in one scene, then joyful in another.
Oh Geez shows how she sees him compared to the audience
I love when he said "because my act is dead without you" xD
I was trying to figure out what he said for so long DX thank you!
at the end you can tell she was like, "aw crap, I messed up"
Plus did anyone notice the frogs on her dress?
Scorpion is like "YA DUN GOOFED!"
the consequences were never the same
Those are anchors though
Rue. L Ryuzaki They mean at the bottom of the dress :)
ohhhhh aha
Mark Lance I thought that she had that expression from 1:45 on wards.
I love how he turns it into a joke. “Cause my act is dead without you”.
Never trust anyone whose pale enough to be in a twilight movie
Funnily enough, he played Edward in the parody, Vampires Suck!! I love IMDb...
He looks like he's got white makeup/powder on
Erika Belliveau Well crap,apparently untrustworthy.
As someone who is that pale... I can confirm this statement to be true 😈
In pale enough to be in twilight (at least I think so) but you can trust me
Letting someone tie you up is something that needs to have trust. A deep level of trust as is being in love. She trusted him and then... Well you know. Anyway it is a great scene. She has a frog on the bottom of her skirt. And the guys hair is hard and black much like the shell of a scorpion.
Excellent observations. I totally miss them all the time so I always have to re-watch movies.
Anette Åsgård You should re-watch the movie. Actually don't, because you take things you see from face value.
Anette Åsgård LMAO!
Anette. ANETTE. Chill.
Anette Åsgård And bitch you need to go back to literature class or some shit, because you obviously don't understand the concept ambiguity or symbolism. 😂
Anette Åsgård Haha! Too late! I did that last night bitch.
You're a tough little tadpole to love
Naughty lilies and lures
Oh, I was knocked to the floor
Never tasted as sweet
A poison as you have
You're an urge that can never be cured
You're a bad little love
And I'm yours
So trust me, trust me
Darling dear
I'm so sincere
There's no need to tear
Trust me, trust me
Honey, do
Just like I trust you
Babe, you're a hard game to catch
You fight and refuse
Oh, you're a wild little bruise
Never tasted as sweet
A poison as you have
You know you never can hide
You're a bad little love
And you're mine
So trust me, trust me
Darling dear
I'm so sincere
There's no need to tear
Trust me, trust me
Darling, do . . .
Just like I trust you
So don't cry, crybaby
All dressed in green
How many kisses do you need?
One for your tummy
One for your cheek
One for the devil inside
Of me
damn his voice is sweet
Take note on how he binds her limbs: He left her one hand free for as long as possible. She could have stopped this at anytime.
"Trust me, trust me... Just like I trust you."
not to mention, in one of the songs it mentions how the frog knew the scorpion was deadly, but chose to stay with him despite how dangerous he actually was.
I wonder, maybe the frog wished it for a while.
Surely she wanted to die. Is that guilt, or is it just an alibi?
and that’s manipulation babey!
Two things
1) would u trust a greaser
2)would u trust a scorpion
Skully yes
Skully D. ÆDD dude I am a greaser
Yes
I love how articulated his words are as he sings. It's so clear and smooth. I've tried finding other songs sang by him but it seems to be impossible so far.
You gotta love the acting that miss Emilie Autumn put out for this motion picture. I think she did an amazing job of conveying body language for the painted doll character. For the small amount of lines she had (all being in song of course) you got an amazing amount of character from her body language and movement. She most certainly made the movie for me
I'm sorry, but every time I hear the 'DING' when he winks it sends me in fits of giggles.
moral of the story: TUNNEL SNAKES RULE
My dude! We're the Tunnel Snakes, that's us.
AND WE RULE!!
hahaha xD tunnel snakes rule! xD
+Hank Wimbleton don't make me brig the over seer down on you
You made me spit my freaking cereal out. You are amazing. You get a sub.
LostRoseSR2
Am i the only one who thinks this entire performance by Marc Senter is one of the fucking hottest ever enacted on the big screen? Jesus Christ its scorching. I need more of his character as the scorpion.
We found the frog
I'd trust the scorpion too, honestly
Seems to me, if David Lynch & Tim Burton had a baby, and Stanley Kubrick godfathered, it would turn out a lot like Mark Senter.
WORTH IT 😍🤩🥵🤤🔥🖤
I love his facial expressions, it all seems so perfectly constructed!
Man the budget was incredibly low but the singing was pretty damn good
A lot of people have said that it's unfair to paint "being too trusting" as a sin. What they forget is that this movie takes place in another world.
At the beginning, we see God working on a doll which he casts aside after a slight imperfection on the eyebrows. In this world, God isn't looking for those who are good, but those who are not flawed. Tamara is not a sinner for trusting too much, but it is an imperfection that lands her here, and which she is doomed to repeat.
Great film and song!
I always loved the twist that the devil was actually reasonably neutral… not good or evil but god was pretty nasty… in this and specially the sequel.
This song was stuck in my head all day! Just the way he's singing; that sweet gently seductive tone that just changes up a little at 1:56 >w
1:56
Wouldn't she think something's a little fishy with a female background dancer getting all up on everything?
I know right
I know right? Like what the hell? x'D
In the movie she actually sees the two of them kissing and was about to leave. That's why he sang the song
Damn i love at 1:29 we see what he truly is then it switches to the kind and trustworthy face that the frog likely sees
I don't know how I feel about Tamaras ending. On one hand I do get the symbolism- each of the characters are given the opportunity to escape their hell if they can overcome their personal flaws, but they can't/won't except for John. But on the other hand there are many complicated reasons why someone might get into and stay in a toxic relationship. Lots of people look for love in the wrong places when their parents don't treat them well, for example, or if they believe nobody could love them due to depression and low self esteem. Does Tamara really deserve to be punished for that?
It's not that she deserved to be punished, it is just what happened naturally in the chain of events. She didn't deserve her end but it was what happened.
Allow me to try this with a, frankly, cold and objective observation.
The idea of going to Hell is because you were the architect of your own destruction. Yes, there are nuances in the psychology of abusive partnerships, and staying when you shouldn't... but the same can be said about all 3. The trick is that silly thing Ole Satan gave our species, in the narrative: Choice. Despite our impulses and tugs, humans DO have the ability to change their own nature. It's a matter of will, strength, and self awareness.
The damnation isn't because they were immoral. The damnation is because, in the end, they were all weak to themselves.
If you watch the 2nd devil's carnival you find that the god in the movies universe is different from the real god in the way that if you have any flaws at all he sends you to hell. Whereas the real god had a son that died for everyone's sins so you don't have to be perfect.
Also there is someone that's like a son to God in the 2nd movie that God sends to hell. I'm curious if that guy that's like a son is suppose to represent Jesus.
Yeahhh, that was one reason I didn't like The Devil's Carnival. It's a brilliant movie but I felt so bad for Tamara. She did nothing wrong, just fell in love with the wrong dude.
The problem is that she doesn't even bother trying to learn about the person she gives her trust to. She never tries to learn about them, she falls for their appearance, for her own feelings towards them. Ultimately, is it love to trust someone when you've never truly know them? Is it a blessing to trust someone else without due reason?
its to represent the sin of sloth and lust
But can we really claim to know everyone that’s special in our lives, as deeply as we’d like to
You can't really get to know someone who is deceitful, narcicistic, or manipulative. That's the whole point. Every relationship requires trust, and trust is always a wager, and some don't have your best interest in mind, even if they claim to.
Ugh I'm in love with him. Does that mean I'm going to die in hell, too????? Worth it yes hello, Mr. Scorpion.
It's worth it...Trust me *wink*
I met a boy who acted just like this. I knew from the very first seconds what kind of guy he probably was, and I didn't come closer and I didn't trust a single word he was saying to me... but, he was so nice, so sweet, that eventually I started thinking "well, maybe I'm wrong, and he's really sincere after all"... no way. It turned out to be just like I thought he was from the very beginning. He played all nice and sweet on me, he pretended all the time, and it was just a damn sick joke. Just like Scorpion does here... The real funny thing is that, this guy was a SCORPIO. ..Guess some songs are just specially written for somobody....
Idk if Marc Senter (the actor of Scorpion) sang his own vocals for this or if someone else did as a voice over but omg their delivery of this entire song is done so beautifully. Easily my favorite song from the first film
I loved that his facial expressions goes from happy to mean during the song!
I think it's amazing. It's about three people who die and go to hell, where they find that hell is a carnival, The Devil's Carnival. The basis for the movie are three of Aesop's Fables: The Scorpion and the Frog, The Dog and Her Reflection, and Grief and His Due. Each character experiences events similar to those in their fable (Ex. This video is an adaptation of The Scorpion and the Frog). I won't give away too much more, but if you like Repo! The Genetic Opera I think you'll like this one too.
His voice just makes my voice suffer and everything but its one of the best songs every!
No one
Not a single soul
Me: liking 8 yr old comments
pretty much yep
same
this is probobaly one of the best forboding evil songs to exist
Ahhhh.... just another guy I find ridiculously attractive. Between Scorpion and Graverobber what is a girl to do?
Pick a guy whos not a walking red flag
Threesome.
@@emilydreskin8665 Between 3 movies Terrance wrote that leaves exactly 0 characters.
Brendon Urie as the Scorpion. Just saying
I would trust Brendon as the scorpion tbh
omg I love that
Oof and Ryan as Tamara-
Avan Sheridan i would go weak so quick
I'd be dead. End of story. Close the book. It's just--page one done.
Also notice how she doesn't do anything to get out of it, even when she realizes where that last blade is going. She doesn't struggle or try to get out or tell him to stop.
It's just as my dad always said, "Never trust anyone who says trust me. Trust me on this."
I'm playing this song over and over again as I work on one of my novels. It's a damn near perfect theme song for one of my characters.
Her sin was lust, disguised as “innocence and love”
Yep the scorpion cannot keep his sting under control. Its fun to watch others suffer especially to see how they react.
Yeah, It's wounderfull
I keep watching this mainly cause I love how Emilie acts as The Painted Doll. Her movements and all. ♥
Everyone talks about how she shouldn't trust him, but if you watch the movie, you can see she is not a good person either. She follows the boys with criminal tendencies because she thinks it's exciting and just stands by and watches as they hurt others.
Well that is true
It's 2017 and I still adore this musical
So I tried to listen to this with my eyes closed. Couldn't blame Tamara for trusting the scorpion. His voice though 😍
This is probably my second favorite song in the movie, next to Prick goes the scorpion's tail.
This woman moves like those nurses in Silent Hill :D
Because she is just a painted doll
You know...for someone who just got stabbed in the stomach she was pretty quite I'd be screaming bloody murder
Marc Senter and Emilie Autumn = Everything good and pure in this world 💖
Welp, another Devil's Carnival song to love for.
What I took away from this video: Dont let teenage boys kidnap you and tie you to a spinning wheel.
I always felt sorry for Tamara. Being too trusting to the point you die as a result is hardly evil. It's a flaw, sure, but does it really warrant eternal punishment in hell? Surely the life she'd been living was punishment enough... she doesn't belong in Hell. At least, I don't think so.
Have you ever heard the expression: "looking the other way"?
When I watched to movie, I questioned myself, why the hell Tamara is in Hell?
Well, as you see, she is trusting, right?
And giving the fact that her "love affairs"involve not so good people, don't you think they might have sent her off to do them "favors"? That could be, as I can imagine, illegal?
So... Being in love or not, it's out of her free will that Tamara chose to acomplished those favors, over looking any fact, in the name of her "love".
Thus, we conclude, she is guilty.
Well, it's because she's flawed that she was banished to hell.
In this movie, you don't get sent to hell because of sins, it's because of flaws.
God wants perfection, if you don't meet the perfection, you go to hell.
Her flaw is being to trusting, and putting her trust into the wrong people... and to some extent, playing the victim.
First couple of times, okay, but after a while, you'd think she'd learn her lesson.
XD most of the time he is isn't he? How far from the truth is it I wonder, if you read the old testament before Jesus came into play, God did some horrible things...
In the story, the frog is usually given more blame than the scorpion. The scorpion is just following it's nature, the frog should have known better than to trust a scorpion.
^You have a point!
Been listening to this for hours on end. I can't stop!
Great explanation. My interpretation is that Tamara doesn't trust her better judgment, which has gotten her into a fair bit of trouble in her life.
Oh great! Another song stuck in my head from a movie I've never seen!
Woe is me! Woe is me!
Gotta love that verbal irony. X3
The audio quality on this is incredible! Love the song.
this song comes to my mind randomly during class and i cannot resist listening
I don't really think "trusting bad boys" is a Hell worthy offense, but hey. God must be a jerk in this universe.
Steve Rudzinski Can;t resist that hair bro!
She went to hell because she was a liar. Also, she kept making the same mistake. She consciously chose men she knew were bad and wouldn't treat her right. There are only so many times God will forgive someone for doing the same thing over and over. So, eventually, she stopped being forgiven for making the same mistake over and over and was sent to hell when she died.
*****
So now she has to suffer for eternity for it?
Makes sense...
If there's a god he's a troll XD
***** Making mistakes isn't a sin. Sinning(hurting other people/engaging in depravity) is.
In this movie, God doesn't care about sin. He cares about imperfection. Tamara's imperfection is her gullibility.
The lesson is: Don't trust guys who look like Cronus Ampora.
NYEH.
It's DualScar man!
my fellow homestuckes
ooc: It's both. they are all the amporas. apart from eridan. eridan can't sing for shit.
Holy shit I choked on my drink!!
i just love his voice. i wonder what else he plays in.i think he makes a perfect scorpion. he should play a villian more often. but i still cant get over how good his voice is. its just wow. and he is so cute too.green is diffently his color.
Lord, Lord, that greed it'll kill ya!
I love Beautiful Stranger.
I love the morals in the movie. It's marvellous.
"just like I trust you"
he never stated he trusted her and she never asked
This literally depicts me in relationships. :(
Everyone commented 5 years ago saying “there were red flags” meanwhile I am here yelling “I SAID I HOPE this doesn’t AWAKEN anything in me”
I'm oh so happy that Marc (Scorp) and Em (Doll) are together!! It adds another layer to this.
So this is the new song from grease

i always liked this fable, sometime people are cruel because it's their nature, and it doesn't matter if it benefit them.
The guys that made the films Repo and Devils carnival. Are geniuses.
So if when she caught him kissing the other woman and he accused her of being a liar because "you said you trusted me" she had said "I did, but I don't anymore, have fun with her" she could've gotten out of the carnival? Poor naive girl.....
Na she wouldve been beaten by the tamer for breaking a rule like #135 which states dont let animals out of cages. She wouldve rroeated this cycle every day for eternity, sometimes she would trust him sometimes not but would always suffer. John was only let go because he gave the devil his due not grief, he made lucifer resluze that God was the true monster punishing people like John etc. This triggered fury in lucifer to knock God off his high horse and start sending those who dont deserve the carnival to heaven regardless, effectively shutting God down and lucufer having full final say on who suffers and who doesnt
@@TheSlashTraxNetwork I can never tell if the devil's more interested in fixing the system or using people redemption as a means for himself to rise to power

@@TheSlashTraxNetwork oh ok - I just thought he was surprised he was able to break the cycle so soon
I loved the Scorpion, I mean, who wouldn't be attracted to him, but... I disliked the victim blaming involved with the Frog's character, :(
Her first boyfriend cheated on her, she was going to leave him but stopped to go back where he shot her. She caught the scorpion making out with the painted doll, and he lied his way into her trusting him. She's an idiot, she deserves the blame.
TheAntiPrep95 Ummmm, no, I'm pretty sure that if one person murders another it's the murderer who'd to blame. No amount of native deserves to be punished by death.
Andrea Greenwood She was punished because she couldn't keep it in her pants and never learned her lesson. She can still be blamed because she went back to Both men who were obviously bad for her.
TheAntiPrep95 I think this is what they meant by victim blaming..
Yes, antiprep is victim blaming. Apparently trusting people is deserving of being murdered...
That "huh" sound she made at the end, made it sound like a totally different kind of stabbing took place..
NO way. This man is absolutely perfect
I wouldn't even mind dying by his hand js. o,o
Anyone else think of Evan Peters as the Scorpion?
I'm thinking of brendon urie as the scorpion
Haha I thought I was alone there
I LOVE TERRENCE'S VOICE SO MUCH!!!
I think it's kinda sad how much focus is put on Emily Autumn's character throughout the whole movie. She shows up in nearly every scene, has the longest song, and though the character is lovely and her voice is BEAUTIFUL, I really feel they got too excited about having someone like her on set, and threw too much attention her way, and distracted from the other cast members. I adore her as well, but there are others on set that I have deep admiration for and would like, and hope, to see more from
And she is big reason we dont get a dc 3
For me it's not a matter of if this would seduce me, but when I would snap out of it
just everything about TDC, the music, the characters, the actors, the plot it's just all so genius.
The Scorpion's scene with Tamara and the Painted Doll especially. It's so intense and yet so lighthearted, I love it!
this is probably my favorite song from the devils carnival
The Scorpion reminds of JD from Heathers, who I don't like…and I love the Scorpion.
Ariella Kahan-Harth same
Same, they had the same crazy minde...que both if them seem so nice to me :v
Where are all the other songs though? This movie had so many good ones, but I can only find two of them here! There used to be more, why were they removed?
+KreeZafi I found plenty, but mostly audio only
Yeah, I can find the audio-only ones too. There used to be videos too though, but I assume they were uploaded by other channels and removed for copyright reasons...
My favorite song off of the soundtrack and from the show.
his moves at 2:00 just get me every time!! I'd fall for Scorpion any day

I CAN'T be the only person who thinks The Scorpion looks like Jared Leto's take on The Joker.
Your the only one
I just imagine 2p America singing this I can't be the only one who thinks this right or Sangwoo singing it.
Hatalia yes
The Scorpion is so perfectly charming. Its not surprising that Tamara fell for him. * o*
Was anyone saddened by her little whimper at the end? No? Just me? Cool
PLASTIC HAIR XD
