What strikes me about him is his incredible, flawless precision. Both in "melody" and in "timing". He does warp speed licks, tasteful and melodically rich and complex, and you can hear every single note with such clarity that he doesn't even seem to play THAT fast, and he always ends "in the perfect place at the perfect time". Flawlessly. As if it was the easiest thing in the world.
I like his playing and his music.
    See you next time!

Matteo Mancuso is a bad boy. The thing that jumped out to me is how steeped he is in the Jazz, Bebop language. After watching videos of him I played some Charlie Parker, and he sounds just like him. Other times he reminds me of John Coltrane. He's able to translate the same fluidity that Bebop saxophonists have, to the guitar--which only few guitarists can accomplish. Amazing.

I'm italian and I've seen Matteo live last week not far from where I live. I have to say the whole concert was mind blowing, and even older people in the audience were in awe even though some sections of many songs are a lot on the heavy side, almost metalish. Seeing him (and his two bandmates) live is really and experience AT LEAST comparable to seeing Steve Vai or similar Gods of guitar, I can assure you that.

It's not just the incredible speed and perfect execution (and I mean PERFECT) but it's the composition work. he creates music my ears want to hear.. I can not say the same thing about most people who can play with this level of proficiency... People love to talk up Tim Henson for example, incredible player. His composition work is not bad. But it's not phenomenal. Same for people like Steve Vai or lesser known but incredibly technical player, Shaun Lane. These guys are/were amazing talent, but...The community of people who play guitar are always listening with biased ears, when they hear complex pieces they like the composition work. But it's the non-guitar players who want to keep pressing play that really make or break you as a musician history will remember. That's true of all genres, going back to the great composers.... Matteo is unbelievably good. His compositions delate the ears. He sets a new bar.

Matteo Mancuso's technique is a hybrid from his childhood training as a classical guitarist with great right hand technique, and later a love for jazz. His gear is primarily Yamaha, namely the Revstar guitar and Helix modeller. Another popular CZcams guitarist named R____ S_____ dissed the Revstar about a year ago and the reaction was swift. Up came the links to Mancuso vids dextrously shredding his Revstars and Pacificas. Yamaha supported him early and he is starting to pay them back with loyalty that perfectly illustrates playing at such incredibly talented levels demands an exemplary instrument. I bought a Revstar Pro, in part inspired by Mancuso and the top line Japanese custom shop quality (lots of great reviews out there) at an affordable price compared to the average Gibson Les Paul with sometimes questionable QC. I can see Mancuso having to eventually insure his hands. 😉

Bass player is not Ricardo Oliva neither (who I adore as Matteo) but Stefano India. Matteo has a hand for his bassists and drummers... I'm glad to see that Matteo still plays with Ricardo on bass also.

    Hello,
just a clarification: here the bassist is Stefano India, who typically plays with Giuseppe Bruno at the drums.
And, by the way, I had the pleasure to see them playing in my region 2 weeks ago; on stage they are even more incredible. I'm a fan of many guitar virtuosi, but I've never seen something like that. Astonishing!

I'm getting his album on vinyl and put it right next to the other guitar god albums I have. He is so damn good, as well as everybody he plays with. The Samba Party song has different lineup. That's a more jazzier piece than this and I like it a lot.
