Zwischen Gilfklamm und Schloss Tirol: Wandersocken-Runde bei Meran

Bevor es am nächsten Tag auf einen Fernwanderweg von Meran zum Gardasee geht, gönnen sich die Wandersocken noch eine kleine Runde in und um Meran und erleben im Laufe der selbstgebastelten Tour u.a. viel wildes Wasser in der Passer, den Steinernen Steg (eine malerische zweibogige Brücke aus dem frühen 17. Jh.), tolle Blicke auf die halb alpine und halb mediterrane Meraner Umgebung, allerlei Apfelplantagen und Weinbau-Terrassen, das imposante Schloss Tirol (Stammburg der Grafen von Tirol, erbaut vor 1100) mit der vorgelagerten Brunnenburg (erbaut um 1250), die beide heute Museen beherbergen, die eindrucksvolle karolingische Kirche St. Peter mit kostbaren romanischen und gotischen Wandgemälden, einen etwas versteckten Pfad, der durch Obstgärten und einen schattigen Wald mit idyllischem Wasserfall führt, tolle Abschnitte am bekannten #Tappeinerweg (gestiftet im späten 19. Jh. vom Botaniker, Kurarzt und Anthropologen Dr. Franz Tappeiner) mit seinen vielen wunderbaren Panoramablicken, den über 20m hohen Pulverturm mit seiner sehenswerten Aussicht auf das Zentrum von Meran, die wildromantische #Gilfklamm an der Gilfpromenade, originelle Gartenkunst und das 1903 errichtete Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Denkmal (auch bekannt als Sissi-Denkmal) im Grün der Sommerpromenade, nahe der Postbrücke...

Before setting off on a long-distance hiking trail from Merano to Lake Garda the next day, the Wandersocken treat themselves to a short tour in and around Merano and experience e.g. lots of wild water in the Passer, the Stone Bridge (a picturesque double-arched bridge dating from the early 17th century), great views of the semi-alpine and semi-Mediterranean surroundings of Merano, all kinds of apple orchards and vineyard terraces, the imposing Tyrol Castle (ancestral castle of the Counts of Tyrol, built before 1100) with the Brunnenburg castle in front of it (built around 1250), both of which now house museums, the impressive Carolingian church of St. Peter with its precious Romanesque and Gothic wall paintings, a somewhat hidden path that leads through orchards and a shady forest with an idyllic waterfall, great sections of the famous Tappeinerweg (donated in the late 19th century by the botanist, spa physician and anthropologist Dr. Franz Tappeiner) with its many wonderful panoramic views, the over 20m high Powder Tower with its spectacular view of the center of Merano, the wildly romantic Gilfklamm gorge on the Gilf promenade, fancy garden art and the Empress Elisabeth Monument (also known as the Sissi Monument) erected in 1903 in the greenery of the summer promenade, near the Postbrücke bridge...
