    Listen as I test my new ‪@lotustrumpets6739‬ TurboWood 7M and 7L against my regular mouthpiece, the Lotus 7L2 (Gen2). I'm playing on a Rode NT1 microphone with a totally flat EQ for the whole video. No tricks. Which one sounds the best? Why? Let me know in the comments!

    Hey Adam thanks for this comparison video! I am considering a Lotus but I have to get the first one first. Still debating which size to try first. Did I hear you correctly that you are becoming a lotus artist and does that mean you’re hanging up your X-13?? I also play the X-13 and I love it! Never play the Lotus yet, but I want to try it.

      Hey! I’m still an Edwards artist. Really love my X-13. Lotus sends me stuff though, and I do enjoy playing it. There’s a guy at Lotus who keeps saying “we’re going to make you a Lotus artist!” But it hasn’t happened yet! 😂

      Ok I got you!!! Well I love that fact the you play the X. It gives me hope of what I could maybe sound like!! 😂 Nah man for real…great work not matter what you’re playing!! You’ve easily become of my favorite trumpet players to listen to. Keep pushing! 🎺💯🔥

    I appreciate how you added a little Stravinsky for us “straight” folk! 😂. If you are looking for feedback, I like the sound you are getting from the L2. I like the L but “something” feels like it is missing with the M. Thanks for sharing! I’ve been thinking about trying the lotus for my piccolo.

      That 7L turbowood mustve felt round enough to play some classical stuff because that just sort of came out. Ha!

    What was your favourite out of the two wood pieces? I think you sounded better on the L.

    • @AdamMeckler
      @AdamMeckler  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I agree, I think the 7L is more comparable to the 7L2, which is probably part of it. The 7M probably has some zip that the 7L doesn’t have. I think the 7L is rounder, a bit warmer sound.

      Would you think about playing wood on gigs or do you prefer the metal feel? I think would be easier on you chops on long shows

      @@stupoo I had a two setter last night. Both creative but energetic and demanding sets. I should have tried the wood. I was fighting the 7L2 a little, TBH. Next time and I’ll report back!

    • @AdamMeckler
      @AdamMeckler  Před 7 měsíci

      @@stupoo I’ll try it on a gig coming up. Anything where I have to play hard though, I don’t think wood would be a good fit. Maybe for a small group jazz thing, a chamber classical thing, or a solo classical thing it could work tho.

    • @stupoo
      @stupoo Před 6 měsíci

      I don’t no I think the wood would light up and be louder than the other materials, I can’t stop playing mine and when you push it it is fire

    Is this trumpet the Edwards?

    • @AdamMeckler
      @AdamMeckler  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yep Edwards X-13. I’m a sponsored artist through them. Great horn.

    I have a 7L TW and was wondering what the M cup would sound like next to the L. I will listen on headphones before I make a choice. Thank you

    Nice, man! I have a 2L brass coming in the mail (0-15 weeks wait time, so I'm still waiting! Haha), and can't wait to give it a test run. Are you also considering a Lotus trumpet? Saw your video of you playing them. Very fun!

    • @AdamMeckler
      @AdamMeckler  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Thanks man! Yeah I am considering a horn. Honestly, Lotus just sends me stuff. I did have a prototype horn in my possession for a bit but I sent it back. It wasn’t really the right fit for what I need. They tell me they’re waiting for a silver flare to become available so they can send it to me. As you said, there’s a lot of demand on their end right now, so the waits are long. Luckily, they’re prioritizing making me a lotus artist, so I’m getting some things before others do (also…sorry…haha)

      Ended up trading in the 2L in Brass for a 1L2 in Bronze. Love this thing. Gives me the upper register response that the regular L version didn't.

    The Turbowood 7M has a little bit less bite than the Lotus metal mouthpiece, probably good for combo work or solo where you want to sound a little more laid back. How does the upper register feel with the wooden mouthpieces?

    • @AdamMeckler
      @AdamMeckler  Před 7 měsíci

      Weird! But probably just needs some time and adjustment on my part. The wood feels a bit stickier against my chops, which definitely changes how playing in the upper register feels, even the mechanics of it.

    • @AdamMeckler
      @AdamMeckler  Před 7 měsíci

      I think anyone choosing to play wood would have to spend some real time dialing it in.

    Why is that all the things you are rendition so high pitched.
