  • We discuss the Rheem tank booster product that is made to "increase" the capacity of your tank water heater without having to buy a bigger heater or increase your electrical size to the water heater.

You can affect government, "IF" you contact your state representatives and voice your concerns. Tell all your friends & family to do the same. You are the boss of Congress.

You can get the same effect installing a thermostatic bypass valve on the output line of the water heater and setting the heater to a higher temperature. For instance, instead of 120° set the heater to 140 to 150°, then set the thermostatic bypass valve to 120°. The bypass valve mixes cold water with the hot water from the tank to achieve the desired temperature at the faucets, effectively resulting in more hot water at the faucets before the tank output falls below 120°. It's bound to be less expensive than this additional heater unit, and there are other benefits to running the heater hotter, like killing certain bacteria.

I have added a shower that is far away from the gas tank and tends to run out sooner or drop temps I’m guessing based on travel to that shower. I’m wondering if this would be good option to install in-line of the hot water headed to that bathroom to get about 10 degrees of temperature rise and help out the tank?

Can you use a mixing valve on top of the boost? Can you set your tank to 140. The boost would give you increased capacity at 140 and then use the mixing valve to mix back down to 120? Trying to eliminate the need for a second tank to accommodate limited high-use demand spikes. Also.. can you use a boost with a Rheem hybrid hot water tank?

Rheem customer service is backed up. But in the documentation, it indicates this is use for a gas or electric tank system, but why can't I use this for a tankless system? I have a need for a small heat boost for a basement shower that puts out a lot of water and my current eco 27 can't keep up with the temp I please. Without going to the eco 36 (as it says it is for use with a 200 amp service), why couldn't I pipe this in to boost my outgoing tankless water.10 degrees or more? I'm interested for two reasons, this will save me 10 amps in my breaker box and saves me having to buy an eco 36, saving me 300 bucks. I'm really trying to stay away from a 40amp breaker and buying an entire new system.

Will this work on a tiny home as a water heater by itself? I have only a shower only 4 feet away a close tiny sink and kitchen sink 15 feet away?

Would this work in a multi family situation where due to the distance from central boiler to residence and lack of recirculating system it often take 2 minutes to get hot water? Put this at the water inlet into the condo to bridge the gap between cold and hot water a couple minutes away?

Is there any model that works with 220-230 voltage single phases like in Europe?

  • @jeremeyellis16

So, the installation manual says it's required to have 14" of straight pipe between the water heater and the unit, but I don't have that. It sounds like you guys said you can mount this directly on the water heater??

Will this work with the Rheem heat pump water heater

Why can't we get ream in the UK?? You'd sell out so fast.

  • @user-zn9ii5ox7k

Ok so if I installed a Rheem 36 kw electric tankless water heater will it hert it if you only wired up one or two of the heating elements

  • @garrybeair5789

Does this booster need cleaning or descaled from time to time?
