I’ve bought a used F82 and F80 and the first thing I did was a pre purchase inspection - like you should with ANY car. They’re great cars provided you don’t get a trashed one

Don't feel too bad it could be way worse, I bought a 335i and got scammed completely, ended up having to do around 6000$ worth of maintenance work in just 4 months of ownership, and I did everything myself, I couldn't even imagine how expensive it would've been to have a shop do the work lmao

@@1Clean.E93 I just bought a 340 from them, the quality has gone down hill it needs struts for sure and has like 9 errors when you plug it in with various electronics like the sunroof, etc.
Yea I was looking at 335i but I feel the msport models are better maintained and I drove a 335i n54 07 4dr and the owner said he gets different codes every month so if u want an inline 6 you pretty much gotta go b58 or s series motors

Just got a used f82. Everything was fine till I took to the shop for spark plugs. Two of them were cross threaded, one broke when they tried to get it off. I have get to two cylinder heads now.

I just got a used F80 a couple months ago. It's getting out of the shop having a dinnan head exchanger, csf charge cooler are carbon exhaust. I'm getting a solid crankhub, and m performance suspension, cattles down pipes, mad max exhaust
Nice! Next plan for me is to get my suspension back and get new rear tires and then intakes and an exhaust! Tune will happen after I do my crank hub.
@@JakeSchnatter don't forget that crank hub. That's what mines in the shop for now. I get it back on the 19th. I've got a Gti and a jeep wrangler. The wrangler is my 13y.o. daughters it's going in to get suspension and off road. Stuff. I usually work on my F80 myself. No BMW dealer near me

I think it was still a decent buy imo. 3k off the car gets , you get fresh pair of jrz dampers is not bad. You got to rebuild them once in a while anyways. If you were to buy a new set of jrz for the f80 you be paying alot more then what you payin right now.
That’s what I’ve been telling people. I also got the CSF charge cooler which is like 2k that he threw in because they were bent. The coil overs also have swift springs and are the rs pro 3’s which brand new are over $8k
Though it sucks seeing the front lip broken on the s4 I think it sucks more seeing it without one you gotta put it back on!

Don’t buy a BMW PERIOD, the engine is made from plastic which will get brittle from the heat of the engine
it's all about maintenance, when you neglect them things go wrong. Buy a toyota if you want a reliable, cheap to run car
I definitely think you should replace front windshield cuz with if it breaks n you’re in the middle of a snow storm or something… although that would probably make some good content 🤔 still safety issue tho
That is a very true point. However I don't believe that will happen and I don't want to spend the money on something that could potentially happen again during this time of year if that makes sense. Also just found out a coil over rebuild is going to now cost $1,700 so adding something else to the cost sheet right now isn't really in the cards this month.
Jake you need to find yourself some bmw tech buddies. Had you been in Tampa we would've banged out all that work in a weekend. But don't feel bad, no matter how a clean a car is when you first buy it there will always be small stuff to get perfect.
The coil overs need to be rebuilt by JRZ I’m not letting someone else mess with them. Everything else has been done fast that’s not the issue it’s just turn around on shipping that’s gonna make the car be out for a while. INW is fast especially with BMW and Audi.
What was the exact issue? I’m pretty sure I have the same issue with my q50. Everyone keeps telling me it’s fine, it’s definitely not
Should have took it to beemer and got inspected and ecu check for tunes and launch control count.
I have only put 7k miles on my f82 and have had to replace injectors. Whole banks system which was 5k and a sensor above the trans that cost me 2k. I wish I had the problems ur having. That’s gravy work

I’m never buying a car without a ppi and one with an accident I bought a dodge charger scat pack that said it had a minor accident in the front and when I brought it for the first oil change the entire subframe was dented and really messed up along with the front suspension

It’s not the cars fault it’s just a matter of the previous owner not fixing what was broke the first time and passing it on to me. Sucks but hey life goes on.
I work at a Dealership...and HIGHLY suggest anyone buying a NEW or even USED car to do a PDI (required on new) or Safety Check on ANY car, regardless of Age and Miles. You never know how the previous owner maintenanced their vehicle, Tuned / FBO and then put everything back to stock, Accidents that weren't legally reported, etc. To many factors that can RUIN a brand new purchase :( - Beautiful ride man best of luck getting everything back together!

One thing is positive! Now you know you have proper rear axcles and a proper overhauled suspension. So nothing will happen again at the rear axles and no sounds.

Not necessarily true. Suspension work is very tricky and 90% of the time it never feels right afterwards. It will pull to the right, or the left or make a strange creaking or clunking sound afterwards. This is why the other guy sold the car to begin with. He knew it was never going to get back to the way it used to be.

Damn bro sorry to hear, I picked up a 19k mile M4 F82 and have no issues, full maintenance receipts and kept very well in garage also only drove on weekends.

@@JakeSchnatter Definitely man, buying used cars is one of those things, you never know how it's "Really" been treated. I picked up a 335i e90 last year and when I got it, it was great but after 2 months of really giving it the WOT, it started to show it's problems, even today I have no idea what's wrong with it.
Replaced Plugs, Coils, Full service - oil, filters etc, injectors, lpfp, cobb charge pipe, vrsf downpipes, 7.5" vrsf intercooler, replaced all vac lines, and it still misfires slightly on startup and performance is pretty lack luster (Using stage 1+ w/ XHP Stage 3)
Also no codes come up, so I am completely a loss of words and full of confusion of what's going on with it, hence why I purchased an M4 as I had enough. I still have the 335i but it's just a "project" car now and project meaning finding the issue with it 🤦♂ It does have serious WG rattle so that might have sometime to do with it maybe?

You didn’t hear these noises when test driving? That’s why you have to drive the car hard when doing a test drive. You want to make sure there’s nothing funky going on. Especially before spending $43k
Yes I did and he already told me about the coil over before I test drove so I figured it was just that not the wheel bearing or axle. The axle wasn’t making a noise the noise in the rear was because he had the setting wrong one rebound and compression for the coil overs.
I would never buy a sports car used. Ever. You can bet your ass it was driven hard and the owner is lying 90% of the time.

Instead of rebuilding them, why not go with completely different brand, and just go all out on something sick
