Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel! This CZcams channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf equipment reviews, golf instruction & I play against some of the best golfers in the world!
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
Rick given your propensity to review clubs and claim that you might put them in your bag. Maybe as an intro to your break 75 you can give a "what's in the bag" preview. Thanks
You mean like!
This week I have Turnberry, St Andrews, Carnoustie, and Sunningdale and IMO they're all great!
Some of the comments re Guy are far too personal and unnecessary. He's a decent golfer, and more importantly, seems a decent bloke making his living a rather great way. Good luck to him
Couldn't agree more, give the bloke a break and just enjoy the video
Absolutely. Matter of choice I suppose. So many negative comments about him, he seems like he would be a nice guy to play a round with.
@@davegregory2809 makes me laugh. Rick slightly dry, slightly too annoyed at himself, Guy helps with both. I get some don't dig his excited vibes, but agree ppl need to grasp insults carry weight.
Guy is a genuinely good dude. Always respectful and cheerful. Never gets too down on himself. I could easily see myself enjoying playing golf rounds with him. He’s the closest thing that we get to see to just a “normal dude” playing CZcams golf.
Massive fan of Guy
Please can you show Guy’s full round with the scorecard again in future.
I appreciate he got some nasty comments after the last time but it really adds something to the video a bit of friendly competition and it’s a bit confusing just seeing random shots of his with no narrative to how his round is going.
Keep up the great content !
Having just played this today, 75 would be incredible. Had my arse kicked, I’m an 8 HCP shot 92 today. Brutal.
Still had to be a great experience!
My best score is 96…I’d need to bring an entire bag of range balls to get round this course 😅

Where's that Titleist fitting video? I was only halfway done watching it.
woburn if that’s what ur asking
He probably took it down because he came off really negative.
They took it down because he was an absolute turd
@@Longing4theWoods
It was taken down? LOL
Not surprised, Rick was Pretty bad and as a result made Titleist look bad.
My takeaway from watching it was.
You can't buy a golf game and fitting really only works for golfers that can hit the ball consistently so that the fitting corrects slight imperfections of their swing. Basically if you can't hit the thing in the first place fitting isn't going to help.
@@Longing4theWoodswhat did he do exactly
Great golf, amazed at all the hate every video gets. As someone already noted, people act like he should break par from the tips at very difficult courses. My clubs championships were held and I think it was won with two day score of +5. Rick would destroy our course.
Indeed,
I think Rick has a really nice looking swing. He clearly isn't consistent because of all the Duck hooks and Slices that creep in. But that I think that's more down to that often Rick is playing a tournament level course from the back tees and then trying to absolutely leather it to make any impression on the yardage. If Rick took 5-10% off his Driver from the Yellows at a club course he'd be pretty much level or under par at most club courses.
The local heath and woodland course I am hoping to join next year is a beautiful little Course with superbly kept Tees and Greens. If you could hit it as far as Rick it would be an easy course but like all courses it's designed to lure the over confident into making a hash of it. It's tight if you miss the fairway there isn't always 1st and 2nd cut rough sometimes it's Heather and Gorse or the woods and it's not going to be playable even if you find it.
I personally really like Guy on the podcast and channel. Enjoy his banter and golf game!
Nice try Guy’s alt account
@Mpw19 there are those of us who actually rate ol' ferretface. I appreciate Guy's overall personality

Must’ve been a lot of f bombs dropped on the first two holes
rick always will say 'i pulled mine a little' when he's basically duck hooked it 🤣
This is why I call my Banana slice an ‘Adult Fade’
"over drawn" lol
Rick, the movement in your swing is a contender for strictly come dancing. It's a good watch
Lucky that a hook and a pull are different thrn ey. He could deliberately hook it 75yrds, but he can still pull that shot.
Every time lol. His commentary is soooooo bad!

This is my favourite kind of video. I like the dynamics between Guy and Rick ! ❤
I’m from Australia, so I can say I’m not involved with US politics, but some of these comments are just ridiculous.
I think the bottom line is that Rick and Guy are both out here to just enjoy a round of golf on what is, let’s be real, an absolutely outstanding course.
Also, I haven’t heard of the club review that *apparently* got deleted, but that shouldn’t have a bearing on this video surely? The dislike ratio is insane.
There was nothing wrong with the fitting video. People just jumped on the bitch bandwagon.
Some of the Americans seem to think Rick is trying to interfere in the US election just by playing a golf course 😂
@@jwilliamb89see that’s what I assumed, seems ridiculous to me and I’m not even in on the political stuff
As an American who is impacted by the political BS, I wouldn’t play this course personally. But not because of the political stuff, instead the way Trump has treated the Scottish people and government in a bid to get what he wants at Aberdeenshire.
Love Guy, adds so much to the channel! Much prefer you watching you go around with someone! Did find this video a struggle to follow though showing some of Guy’s shots and others not. I’d rather have everything or nothing in. Love the course, it looks a beaut!
Love that intro. Nearly as good as Grant’s version earlier in the week 😂

Gutted not to see Turnberry on the Open rota any longer having been at the Open in 09 there. Been waiting a long time for one of the CZcamsrs to do Turnberry - nice one Rick 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
An absolute travesty that Turnberry is not hosting the Open now, politics and golf at its worst play here. It’s a gem, enjoyed the viewing guys

What a stunning course! Definitely one for the bucket list! You guys are living the dream!
Love Guy, he adds so much to the channel!!
For the love of god, Rick, will you please just play one round of golf where you aim down the right on everything, down the right of fairways, right of greens … and just simply play with your natural shape of right to left !!!! instead of this infuriating need and obsession for a “baby fade” !?!
I feel like his drives are a little bit of both, and he definitely plays the draw on most of his iron shots. 76 from the championship tees here (240 yard par 3, etc) is a very good performance from someone not on the tour. What would your score be on this course from those tees?
100% I think that it would benefit the average golfer immensely to see a guy play within his means.
It’s difficult. I use to play a lot and had a low handicap. Kids, career, injuries I just don’t play much. My best rounds now come from playing within my skillset.
I don’t have the shots I use to.
Rick could shoot lower if he played his draw. 100% agree
Thank you for this comment lol. I’ve never understood people’s obsession with fighting their natural shot shape rather than playing it
I always get a kick when hacks who can't break 100 on their local 5800 yard muni give Rick advice on how to play.
Golf Sidekick is a much better channel. With lots of value. 😊
Hits a draw / hook off nearly every Tee.... Definitely worth approaching that Titleist fitting like he did 🤔
I don't understand all the hate for Guy. Seems like a cool dude.

This is an amazing golf course and golf experience. The people are so kind and helpful. But, Rick, you had it too easy. The day I played there was a 20 to 25 MPH wind the whole round and it was 45 degrees F. I wore a long sleeve golf shirt with a golf sweater but was so cold I wore my hooded sweatshirt over it all day. I bought a beautiful Turnberry golf hat but only had it on for half of the first hole, the wind kept blowing it off my head. Still it is the best golf experience I’ve ever had. I highly recommend it.

Hopefully not
Carter would be so deep in Rick's head after the 1st hole he would have a meltdown..😅😅😅😂😂... unless the did a break 50 while drinking Highnoons..
One of my absolute favorite things Rick always says, "This hole does this, this, and this, SO A GOOD DRIVE NEEDED." 😂
I don't think I have ever stood on a tee box and thought, "A terrible drive here would be absolutely perfect." Always makes me laugh. Great vid at a beautiful course! Don't listen to the haters, I love you guys.
Anyone else picked up that the score was incorrect? On the front nine he has that he scored 38 but actually the numbers add up to 37 and even on the graphics he had one double and three bogies (which equals +5) but then has an eagle and two birdies (which equals is -4) so actually only +1 at the turn. Then the back nine shows a score of 38 when it actually totals 39. So, 37 and 39 does actually equal 76 which is +5 but funny anyway. 👍🏻
After the third hole he has a double, a bogey, and a par and it says two over 😂
Actually there are 3 par 3s in the front so par is 35.

Would actually love to see that
5 tips for Rick...1.) Warm up properly before a round...hit a small basket of balls...2 per club. Play 3 holes on another course. Then heed Arnold Palmer's advice on the 1st 3 holes (Focus extra). 2.) Learn to hit a "Lee Tevino Power Fade" on holes where your good DRAW is NOT a "good idea". Ben Hogan used a fade on tighter driving holes too (ie. long holes where you still need to use the driver...use a low-loft 3-wood if you can give up some length for accuracy). 3.) Heavy lies in the rough...carry a Stan Thompson "Ginty" 7-wood (Guy could have used it on hole #1 as an example rather than 2 shots to get out of the rough). 4.) Spend more time on putts to get a better feel for the speed. Practice to get a teardrop pattern where almost all balls "get to the hole" using Dave Pelz's Stats that state the best general putt would finish 17-18" or roughly 1.5' past the hole. So "center" your 6' circle about 1.5' past the hole which is saying that your range of 2nd putts would be up to 4.5'' past but not more than 1.5' short (on lag putts). Nobody ever ENTIRELY eliminates leaving the odd putt an inch or 2 short "in the jaws, but you can minimize that to a RARE occurrence that happens maybe once in 18-36 holes and NOT every 9! 5.) In heavy rough or "grass bunkers" around a green, use a heavy-headed (high swing-weight) Sand Wedge to avoid a fluffed chip/pitch and to ensure a proper follow-through and acceleration through the ball at impact. ANYWAY, YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF THIS COURSE!
All those shots into the rough and I don’t recall a single lost ball “Right I found my ball” - I think I need a bunch a film crew and ball spotters to help lower my score in future its the simplest answer to lower my score without needing to improve
Didn’t you know it’s a Trump thing….? He makes sure his ball never gets lost😂

@TG-mt6ke He needs something different off the tee for sure. I'm not sure what that is, but fairways are the way to breaking 75.
@@DavidBrown-jt7yi he over-complicates his shots by trying to shape them when it’s not really necessary. that’s the real issue, honestly. he’ll be 150 yards out with a straightforward middle pin and still tries to get fancy with some unnecessary draw or fade. just hit it straight, and save the shot-shaping for when you actually need it
@DavidBrown-jt7yi agree. Although the fade is a safer shot in would mind him going back to his old routes off the tee and play with a draw
@TheVillest You can look back on all my comments on almost every video, and I've complained about this for some time. I've never seen someone draw a 9 iron 20 yards like he does. If he had hit the nice and easy straight shot, he would knock 5 strokes off his handicap.
Fortunate to have played this course in 2000. It was phenomenal then, looks even better now. Thank you for the video. Brought back some great memories. Of note, my buddy and I showed up for our early June, 8:30am tee time in shorts and short sleeves. Our caddies were in FULL RAIN SUITS. I said to my buddy "we are in real trouble!" Rick, I’m new-ish to the channel but love the videos. Gorgeous course, and a great round for you! One thing: in this and other videos, I keep seeing simple math and graphics errors on the scorecard. Here, par on the front was 35 (not 36), and 36 on the back (not 35). And you shot 37 on the front (not 38), and 39 on the back (not 38). Final scorecard at 42:31 is what I’m looking at.
Nitpicking aside, love seeing these courses and this game through your eyes.
not a big fan of the voice overs, lets see the real golf weve always seen. hate to be a complainer, love the content, will always watch, just appreciated the journey we go on, the voiceovers just make it so unpersonal and rushed
Disagree. I like the speed of the video this time and the voiceovers made sure that it wasn’t unnecessarily long.
Disagree. I think the voiceovers are covering for a poor start and some choice language in the filming - however I found them a refreshing change. Feels like the first couple of holes are always a bit ropey, warm up holes, and this enables us to speed through them and get into the better golf. We all want to see rick playing better golf.
you guys are aloud to feel that way, to me it removes us from the video, it to me, shows a level of not caring, thinking that he has to minimize a few bad holes, if any of us have golfed, weve been there, it happens, the opening double bogey isnt fun, but thats golf. do you sprint to your cart after a double and drive to the next tee as quickly ass possible? no. another day, another double. dont run from it.
I’ve enjoyed all your videos. I’m so glad I came across them on CZcams. It would be awesome to play a round someday with you guys

How can you ever be bored of links courses? Terrain and weather are essential components of our game. And I like a bit of roll over (maybe) better lies. Great we have some new ones (Kingsbarns, Dumbarnie, Trump Aberdeen) and some short eccentric ones too. Played some very good heathlands (Ganton, Moortown, Alwoodley, Rosemount) but grassy parklands are not for me and spare me please from those places with intrusive trees which have overgrown narrowing the fairways.

@@RickShielsPGAWhere is the fitting video ?
Would love to see a break 75 at Burnham & Berrow or Silloth on Solway
"YoU PLaYed A TrUmP CoURsE...I'm UnFoLLoWinG YoU." 🤣
started out watching vid thinking how much I would love to play this course then after watching the half way house footage I was starving😊
Same intro music as Grants Valhalla video...
16th hole and Guy running after the ball is priceless!
Rick is more like the titleist fitting video than people realise. I've been told thats the norm
