Storms have been doing the same for us out in Appalachia. The only positive side is I havent had to mow in over 2 weeks because the grass isnt growing. I'm over the heat the though. The tortoise likes it, I do not!
I loved the videos from your trip but, I missed seeing your animals so much. Especially Otis! They all look so great!! I do wish you would show your iguanas more. They are so amazing. Thank you for the great video ❤❤
i love how the radiated tortoises raise up on their legs to really enjoy the water! and the one that's not Otis came over to check out the camera up close lol. it's so cute! and yayyyy Otis is adorable with his strawberry! I wish animal con was closer- i'm in mass, not to far from NJ and would love to meet Otis, but FL is too far away!
Will be checking out that playlist out! Happy return, those iguanas were waiting for you eagerly by the gate wall ❤❤❤ Ottis has a fantastic personality 😊 🐢
Since you know you are going in water over the boot tops, why not try the water saddles. They give your toes protection, but then the boots might give your shins bit protection!
Wow, here in Michigan we have had torrential rains and flooding and rain is again forecast. My grass is growing like it is May. I hope you get some relief from the drought.
We are in Cedar Grove, NJ and it’s very dry here also. Barely any rain so I understand and pray for you guys cause I can’t imagine how does anyone care for so many animals in a drought situation.
We had a couple of days of extreme heat. I placed a bunch of large terracotta dishes with water in strategic places for the tortoise to get to if she needed, but she spent most of the time under bushes and under leaves. Yesterday, a huge storm just appeared out of nowhere, but today again is very sunny and hot.
It makes sense that the first set of eggs would be a practice set. Are there the other egg laying critters that do the same? Watching the reptiles eat flowers just tickles me…the tortoises are particularly cute. I do love a big ‘ole snapper; your adults look so so wonderful! So happy to see the Chief doing so well. Thank you for all his care. Health issues kept both hubby and myself inside so we missed this year’s breeding season, when they all come out of the river and marsh behind our neighborhood and wander the yards and sidewalks looking for love. We’ve had the opposite…a lot of thunderstorms. Our poor hurricane rescue, Boofy the Bassett Hound, has spent a lot of days stoned on either CBD or a heavy prescription depending on how bad the storm will be…still scared but not as badly unless it’s right over us. Wish I could send some rain your way.
Chris & Casey... So glad you made it home safely! What a wonderful vacation you had! Now is the time to get back to reality with no water. All the turtles, tortoises& all the gang are so happy your home.We have so much water and rain in Florida it's ridiculous. Wish I could send some your way. That's interesting you're going to be in Orlando hopefully we all can make it 🐢.. Thank you for what you do for the 🐢❤️
There's No Place Like Home! Welcome back Chris and Casey, and I have to say, you may be in a drought but the animals look well taken care of. Hope you got some rain from Hurricane Beryl, not sure you were it's path. Happy to see all is well, and thanks for the update!🐢🦎👍💕
you need gardening tool thats meant to loosen up the ground because of the intense heat the ground becomes so dry it acts more like a water resistant then absorbent loosening up the ground will help against that
I live in a hole and all the storms have been going around us this year. The yard is so very dry and crunchy. My favorite part of the video was watering the radiatied tortoises and those little tails just a waggin'....pure bliss! How can we help our yard turtles in this extreme heat and drought when I don't even know where they are? We have a lot of thicket around our backyard so I know they stay shaded, but I don't know if they are finding any water anywhere. I don't want to harm them trying to be helpful!
Same for us in San Antonio the tropical storm that rocked Houston just gave us sprinkles and over cast but other cities near us or past us got poured on. We are only 2-3 hours away and just got overcast haha it’s rough
I can’t finde half of your videos anymore, for example the spotted turtle pond you build a Long time ago. What happened? Can you reopload the pond build video?❤😊
Oh, hey, do you have any experience with Hermit's tortoises having one nail per back foot that is very "run down" and all others intact and if something should be done or can be done? It grows out a bit during brumation. And I was already wondering if some sort of nail extension with UV curable epoxy or sth. else (whatever is safe to use!) would make sense, for protection till the nail grows back to the same length as the rest? :-\ If you have knowledge on this topic, a video on it would be very very helpful.
Great video! The group of Testudo hermanni boettgeri I saw in the beginning of the video, is that your Macedonian group or a group from unknown/other locale?
Hey there ,I had a question I have an Indian star tortoise and I wanted to know that if his mate lay eggs what is the chance of survival of the hatchlings ?, if I keep the hatchlings in best conditions can all survive, and my tortoise has respiratory problems so would they come in the hatchlings too ? Please answer 🙏
Wow. You get the award for the rudest comment we’ve probably ever received. For your information, (and not that anyone owes someone like you a single explanation), we were flown out there and most of the trip was comped because of our work with these animals throughout the years. We were brought out there to give the keynote speech at a big conference and to film many aspects of the work that they’re doing in those countries. Next time, do a little research before making a comment like that. It could have saved you from looking like an utter fool. Take care. ✌🏻
I'm convinced Otis is obsessed with biting a human nose, 😆
Sometimes he is!
It also possible, given his intelligence, he thinks it’s funny.
My other comment keeps disappearing I think, but can you put up tarps over the ponds to reduce evaporation? @@GardenStateTortoise

I hear you on that!
I'm just West of Knoxville and haven't had to mow since mid-June. It's crunchy out there!
@@glowworm7575 dang! That's some dry grass!

Otis is so enamored with being photographed or filmed. He's the niftiest little guy.

Otis is so inquisitive! So cute 🥰🥰 The alligator snappers are super to watch❤❤❤❤❤
Otis is like…You left me!😢😊😂
I guess I forgive you..❤
Cameras and noses over strawberries. 😂

I'm glad you guys made it home safe! Your iguanas are so well behaved! And of course, Otis is such a Casanova! ❤❤❤
Thank you!!

You should do a crossover video with Garden Answer and have Aaron and Laura and their kids come put in irrigation and new plants!
Pretty cool idea!
Yip, just sitting and watching you favourite torti waddling around....the best therapy on earth 😂❤

We actually did right after we filmed this! 🙌🏻

I’m glad you guys had such an amazing time on your trip, but I’m also glad that you are home so we can see the critters that we know and love ❤
Us too!
Meanwhile it’s freezing in the UK. Very envious of your weather.
Yikes really??
I'm in Connecticut and it will rain for a bit and then be wicked hot and humid and then some storms and then back to the heat. I am over the heat

(If you travel again, and find yourselves in Austin Tx, I think a collab with Alveus Sanctuary and their tortoise would be awesome!)
My uromastyx loves hibiscus flowers and the leaves as well.
this is so educational we have bee in drought here too
Mickeyyyyyy LOVE HER 🥰🐢💚
🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ LUV ME SOME OTIS!!!😁😁😁
Please show us more from Mikey and Radiatas!! Best regards from Austria

I would do love to meet Otis!! Putting that on my bucket list ❤ awesome camera work Casey
The snapping turtles are huge!🎉
Hi
Howdy
Hello!
Tortoises are my favourite animals!!!
👇
This year is strange weather wise
@15:20 -- Otis wants to go to Universal Studios! He's TOO JEALOUS OF and would get in fights with the animals at Wild Kingdom/Disney!
OTIS LOVES CASEY, I I see❤❤❤
☺️❤️🐢
Otis loves the camera

Do you bring your ASTs inside for the winter? If so, how cold do you let them get before moving them indoors?
They hibernate outdoors here. Brody was only inside for the first winter to put weight on after we rescued him.
Hey, I really need your help. My hibiscus is growing flowers. I want to store some for my tortoise for autumn and winter. How can I preserve them?

How are you taking Otis to Florida? I thought airplanes do not allow tortoises on board..
Is the Otis Plushie going to be shipped any time soon?
Do you use city water, well or something else?
We use well water
Is it possible for you to get kinixy homeana tortoises ? They are hinged back tortoises and I’d like to get tutorials on how to take care of them
We have actually kept them in the past and did get eggs from them.
@@GardenStateTortoise do you still have them ? And can you make videos on how you care for them and everything please
Can people visit?
I think that's older than me.
🙌🏻
Welcome home!
Thank you!!
New Intro??
Plz comment
Why do they open their mouths that way? They're showing their weapons and offering to mess you up.
