Finally! someone that shows how it should be done correctly. The most overlooked part of the effect is dropping the frames to 18fps. Great work
Haha it’s the heart of it all! Thanks my man! Appreciate it a ton
Except you should definitely shoot at 18fps in the camera, rather than changing 24 to 18.
@@C.I... Does it really matter if the camera drops some frames or premiere removes some frames at the exact same shutter speed. I dont think it would effect the image at all.
@@dimitrilayer It does if you export it at the correct frame rate. Exporting at 24, it's destructive either way you do it, but filming at 18 then rendering it at 18 means at some point someone might get to view it correctly because it's just a case of changing to the correct refresh rate on the monitor/projector - the frames are left intact and not blurred/interpolated together.
@@C.I... Yes thats correct. But you can also exporting the 24fps footage in 18fps after you changed the frame rate to 18 fps. And then its the same thing.
50 years from now people would be searching "how to get the snapchat look"
Hahaha probably
where is the lieeeeee
The snapchat look is cursed
Never thought about the 18fps! Made such a difference, looks sooo authentic. Thanks!
For sure the finishing touch!! Thanks for watching!!!
Hahha.. same here!! I never thought about it.. although i knew aboutt he frame rate is used in film videos!!!!
I thought what would he tell me that i didn't knew.... ,And then the 18 fps hit me hard!! Lol.....
Thank you for being straightforward, not annoying, and for providing quality content. Subscribed.
Haha i try my best not to be annoying. Lol thanks so much dude!
BRO! This is the best tutorial I've seen on CZcams that perfectly describes how to achieve the Super 8 look on digital cameras. Huge thank you!!!
Man thank you so much! Glad you liked it!
I love your storytelling man! Really! Your videos are not tutorials, just stories. I love them!
So glad you’ve enjoyed it that way! Definitely was going for that so happy it’s coming across. Thank you so much!!
Thanks Danny! Tutorial was awesome. I kind of love how unpolished your talking pieces are (the pauses and stuff). In the same way Super8 feels warm, nostalgic, etc. this way of talking feels like a conversation and makes the stuff you say feel authentic. Rather than really polished over the top editing galore on other youtube channels. Anyways keep up the good work - tutorials like the ones you put out give me hope I can make professional content some day lol. (Also made it to the tip so I raise my hand)
Hahaha i saw you raise your hand man! Thanks so much Alex. Glad you're enjoying my personality. Biggest compliment i could receive.
I just discovered your channel on youtube's frontpage and i'm in love with your style, it feels fresh and new to me which is something that i like.
New subscriber from France! :)
Thank you so much! So pumped you found the channel. I love France.
This is the most amazing tutorial of anything I've ever seen straight up
hahaha what an awesome comment. Glad you thoughts so Arie! Appreciate you!!
Man love the structure of this video and talking about why this effect would be used. Refreshingly good content 👏👏👏
So glad to hear that man! Thank you!
Thank youuu so much! Pls keep doing what you re doing! You're amazing!
For sure! Thanks so much!!!
You put a big smile on my face when you say "I love you". Thank you so much for your video and friendliness :)
Haha and I promise you I mean every bit of it. Thanks so much for watching sir! Appreciate you
Thanks man.
This video is amazing. This is the first time that I’ve actually had trouble differentiating digital footage from actual super 8 footage. I’ve watched lots of videos on how to get that Super 8 look but none of them come even close to this one. I was planning on actually shooting some Super 8 film for my next short film so I ordered a Kodak Vision 3 500T Super 8 cartridge about 1,5 months ago but it still hasn’t arrived because of the film shortage right now.
I just made a film with all the tips you have in this video and im super happy how it turned out just a short film with my son in the park but i love it, just wanted to let you know that i'm grateful! 🤟🏼
Pumped to hear that dude! Thanks!!
Great channel and this video is a home run! Thank you!

You're sooo underrated man...gj
Appreciate it David!! Haha I’m trying out here man. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting!!!
Nice video. Will definitely have to give it a try. I do have a super 8 camera so might shoot with both and see how close we can get. I will add one more thing which is that most super 8 cameras did not have sound.
Love that super 8 look! definably will try to create it. Thanks for the tips Danny.
Dude its so fun! You'll have a blast with it. thanks for checking it out homie!
Such a great channel man. There is a serious lack of real film makers on CZcams and I’m glad to see more like yourself getting videos out between actual jobs. Keep crushing it, you will go far
Dude thanks so much and happy you see it that way too. I appreciate you man I’m trying out here haha!
Danny Gevirtz my advice is don’t become a “CZcamsr” keep making films and sharing knowledge. That’s what this platform needs
Danny, my brother. You seem like a gem of a person. Here is my sub for you.
Seen a few of your videos now and followed you on IG thank you for all the videos you do ! Hope you keep on succeeding !

you are so cute, charismatic and talented! thanks for the help, here in Brazil filming with a Super8 is extremely expensive. but with this help, we who like this aesthetic can finally make our filming.

what a fun video and very helpful!
So awesome to hear that dude! Thanks for watching!
Really good content bro!
Thanks a ton Jake!!
killer stuff matey
My guy!! Appreciate you watching Sam. Love your stuff dude
Great video. So then in that case, in order to achieve this look or even 35mm look, shooting in 4k is not mandatory? Even we can shoot in 1080p and it should work?
great guy
Appreciate that man!
I love you too dude.
What is that handheld camera you used? Looks really nice!
just found this channel and i love it! i really want to go to film school but i'm really scared because my parents think i'll fail lol
Thanks so much glad you found the channel! I think you should totally ignore whatever your parents think if they have that sort of attitude! IMO
Next time you want grain in your video just let me know I have heaps of it in my super 8 movie films from the 70's I can send the grain to you lol Great video and great choice of music as always, really enjoyed it. LOL@ Danny a great name. Mate your nailing these with information and humour, loving it a great combination. LOL@to be taken seriously take the wedding films off your website, so true to be successful, you cant be everything to everyone, getting the right clients will take your business to where you want it go. Love the ending mate and love you and your work Danny, great stuff. :)
Always looking forward to a comment from Peter! Haha thank you so much man. Gotta keep the jokes flowing for you
"yeah we do mad love up in here" hahahah!
Hahaha I love that you subscribe to my CZcams channel. I think very few people I actually know do

You should have felt it! Because I meant it Gil. Hahaha thanks dude
Looks so good! Thanks for this man. Also, where did you get your backdrops from? digging the blue!
Appreciate that man! Lol it’s the same back drop I just changed the color of it in post
Danny Gevirtz haha that’s awesome thanks!

Haha thank you homie!!!
Why are people disliking such a nice tutorial.
Interesting! Thanks for posting :)
For sure dude! Thank you for watching!
Which focal length would you recommend for emulating that Super 8 look?
YES!!! Thank you
Hahaha I was waiting for you to see this!
Danny Gevirtz Didn’t even watched the video yet when I hit “like” and commented. I knew it’s gonna be awesome. Thanks buddy. Really appreciate it. (I’m sure a lot of you subscribers will live this) YOU ARE THE MAN!!! 👍
Haha for sure let me know when you’re done Watching !
@@DannyGevirtz outstanding as always. Always love the way you do tutorials. The small details like choosing a zoom lens or adjusting frame rates, you even covered the grain size . Most tutorials on super 8 look mainly focus on color grading, which is fine but it's more than that and you definitely showed us that. EXCELLENT WORK...Am I sounding like a "fanboy" hahaha cuz I Am
Love the channel! Like an unpretentious Peter McKinnon. It is awesome!
Haha thanks so much dude! glad you enjoying these
How about setting in camera itself, do i just flattening it or theres any other change for my camera..?
How are do you get those amazing fonts
not to sound weird but i like listening to your voice aside all the knowledge that you share
Haha that’s not weird. That honestly makes me really happy to hear. Thank you
You just gained a subscriber bro!
