  • Continuing my videos on mixing Nikon vintage lenses with more modern Nikon DSLR's and mirrorless Nikon Z bodies. 135mm lens is an odd length for me but when matched with the D500 cropped sensor, it becomes 202.5mm focal length. More useful in my opinion. What do you think? Do you own or use a 135mm lens?
    So, Nikon vintage AI 135mm f2 8 manual Lens on Nikon D500. Is 135mm more useful at 200mm? Review and enjoy.

    The smaller aperture numbers are ADR numbers. They were designed to be read through the view finders of the older film cameras. AIS lenses only color the smallest aperture reading, i.e. the largest number. There is also a scoop in the mount which communicates the focal length to some bodies. The 135 f/2.8 lenses are one of the Nikon gems. Very sharp with excellent contrast!
    ADR is an acronym for Aperture Direct Readout

      @@Adventure8 Just a little knowledge gained by an old Nikon user! My first Nikon camera was bought in 1974.

    This and the 105 2.5 are amazing. And the DC f2 versions are sublime.

    I have a 135 f3.5 and a D500. Might be useful when not wanting to carry the 70-200. That lens and the 300 f 2.8 are my sports shooting lenses on the D500. Never used the 135 much at all on my Nikon F3HP but may give it a go as the 70-200 a bit larger to carry such as on a hiking trip for those moments I need the reach.

    I've got one for about 100 bucks. Not sure whether it is a good deal. But after a few brief shots, I love this old one.

    I don't understand the title. How can you use a 135mm at 200mm?

    • @desotopete
      @desotopete Před rokem +1

      Ok. I guess the question is , is the 135mm more useful on a crop sensor.

    Reminds me a bit of the Asahi Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/3.5.

    I like the size and the optics of the 135 f2.8. Love the results!
    (on another note, wasn't that the Loch Ness monster on one of your shots?)
