Actually, the rotation could in theory simulate G-forces by orienting based on where the forces would be pulling, rather than based on the horizon. Granted, it'd never exceed 1g, but it would at least provide a sensation of G-forces.

For flying games a max of 10G with training a special suit that comes with it but even then your using it so you should know your limits of how much you can take before you black out over 10G is death but 10g for 5 secs before completely blacking out would make for a cool experience

First off, brilliant! Love the simple design. Question: Would it be possible (or practical) to align both axes of rotation with the user's upper torso or head? I feel like that might even further improve how real it feels since you won't feel the acceleration of the machine as it moves to a given position quite as much.
Still love the design though man, great work

This is a terrific start without resorting to one of those 7 million dollar Spar or Raytheon Motion Flight Simulator installations at a few USAF bases or NASA. A precision 20 ton robot arm is a pretty expensive piece of hardware plus you need a flight surgeon as a safety monitor for the motion simulator in case you red out and bust a blood vessel pulling high negative sustained Gs.

    • @JS-wk4oe
      @JS-wk4oe Před 7 lety +1

      >flight surgeon as a safety monitor for the motion simulator in case you red out and bust a blood vessel pulling high negative sustained GsThis is the important part. You can't "just get one of these" if you have the money. When people pay to go get taken up in a real fighter jet for some extreme thrills, there's a medical checkup by a flight surgeon beforehand. You have to get your blood pressure taken among other things.

needs a bit of smoothing to the motion but since its a 2015 video that may have been done. The real question is how loud are the drives, Would end any immsersion in a flight sim if you are hearing the whine of electric motors over the howl of jet engines.

nice idea but need some stability.
    1.its too light and wobbles.
2.also the cage is unbalanced. add more weight on toppart to even out the seat and players weight..
every axis need to be in balance.
reduce wear and give a smoother movement.
    3. that chain drive need tensioners.
going all in and use hydraulics would make it perfect i think. but also cost more.
try getting your hand on a used/broken roller coaster arcade machine..
theyre old now but then you can use the parts and inspiration from there to make it even better.
    keep on with the project.

A 20x20 degree range of motion makes more sense for a flight sim rig. Because of the lack of g forces its better for the gravity to be down. With VR goggles on, a 20x20 range of motion is incredibly immersive. Still not entirely realistic but better than this.

everybody saying this is a fake demonstration is right, but keep in mind that flight simulators tend to orient themselves according to the g-forces experienced rather than the plane's orientation, meaning that for example if you were to go full throttle while flying perpendicular to the ground the cockpit would still tilt upwards to simulate the g-force from your accelleration.
of course since it's a static simulator it uses gravity to do so meaning you can only experience one g in any direction, you need a multimillion centrifuge simulator to go above that

Right idea 正确的想法. Wrong execution 错误执行. It is not necessary to simulate more than 1 G of acceleration and lateral forces in 99% of car and aircraft simulations. This means you only require 180-degrees of range in both axis. Following this rule, you can reduce the platform size and weight (and cost) considerably. This will also reduce the moment arm 力矩臂 to eliminate 消除 much the jerkiness 抖. Instantaneous torque authority 转矩控制 is critical in gaming. I also suggest you consider beginning from a platform like the Playseat Evolution or similar.

This is cool but, not knowing much about this stuff, I have to wonder how well it would handle faster, more complicated motion like a snap roll or something?

The acceleration and cessation forces this thing exhibits would feel nothing like the real thing. In fact it looks like it'd give you whiplash if anything. And an open cage using just a five point harness with no head support or helmet? Stupidity incarnate. Close the cage, or install a proper seat, helmet, and helmet harness.

That looks inefficient. When you are on one of your sides it is impossible to simulate the motion you get when you pull down of up your joystick.
